Every year, between Christmas and New Years, it is completely drained by opening a huge gate near Nueva St. and only a trickle of water is left. Then they walk over the bottom and pick up tables, chairs, cell phones, purses, wallets, salt and pepper shakers, bottlles, cans, baby buggies (no babies), strollers, hub caps, platters, ash trays, money, credit cards, sun glasses,.....well, a whole array of items dropping in by some of the 6 million visitors every year. One year they even found a car engine! It very interesting to watch. They do not dig or pick up any Alamo or historical relics....even though a cannon has been spotted ....that can only be done wih a permit from the state and they don t go to the trouble.
During the Mud Festival in January after the holidays. It would make no sense to drain it during the most active tourist time of the entire year which is the Christmas season with all of our beautiful Christmas lights. We even choose a mud King and Queen. It takes a week to clean. This year, as we have added to the Riverwalk both buildings and sculptures, we will probably find new things when it is drained.
i believe its once a year
If you don t have a car and will work in Warren, you better live in Warren and walking distance from your place of work.
No way! It costs a fortune to park a car in the city - if you can find a garage with space. Use the subway and bus system. Get a guidebook that has the maps or go to the transit authority website and familiarize yourself with the various lines before you go. For Atlantic City you d need to get a bus, probably at the Port Authority. Save yourself some time on the Statue of Liberty and just take the [free] Staten Island Ferry that sails near it. It s a time-consuming trip to go to the statue itself and you ll need tickets in advance.
If you rent a car you wont be able to park anywhere in Manhattan unless you use a garage. You will find it difficult keeping up with the cab drivers, they are pretty sharp drivers, and the one way streets and no available street parking will make you crazy. If you drive around to look and sight see you can get a good lay of the land outside Manhattan and parking wont be such a problem. I live in the bay area and lived in New York city years ago.I suggest car rental only for sightseeing to Long Island and New Jersey just for a day or so. Car rentals are very expensive in Manhattan.
You re kidding right? My friend, this is NYC not Cali, a car is not need here. You can get anywhere are the city by public transit. Now, if you re going to AC, you can either take the bus from Port Authority Bus Terminal or a weekend express train service from Penn Station. You can also drive down to AC from NYC.Good luck
HELL NO!! Subway is the best!! NYV driver are so aggresive and scary... We are from San Francisco and didn t drive until the last few days, because we needed to go to Washington, getting out of the city was so scary! If you have too, rent the car from the airport and make sure you have lots of quaters ( at least $5-7) for the road tolls.. Yes, you think San francisco is expensive for parking?? NYC is crazy, you have to be rich to park at the parking lot- $8 per 20 mins.. (Street parking is hard to find.)You have to go to ALantic City, it s so cool.. Lots of shopping and casino- we won money there.. There are Bus that goes to Atlantic city from NYC Chinatown or Downtown area for about $20-40.We just got back from NYC about 3 months ago and I m definitely going back! We were there for 3 days, but I think 5 days should be enough. Get the 3+ day NewYorkPass, it will save you a lot of money! http://www.newyorkpass.com/ Also, buy your NYC T-shirt ( 5 for 10.99) at Times SQ.Around Empire State building, they have a lot of cheap NYc sounviers. Hotel wise, book early. We stayed in Chinatown (Hotel 91) but it s clean and fairly cheap- though you can heard the subway at night, it didn;t bother us. Becareful of big and cheap hotel, I heard it s not clean,, The last thing you want is to bring home some bed bugs.Broadway Show: If Wicked was too expensive ( it was for us), so we went to see Fuerza Bruta , we got a coupon online and pay half price =) so check online! .. Let put it this way, we will never forget this show.. we had a blast!http://www.broadwaybox.com/ ? for cheap shows! Ps. We finally watched Wicked In San Francisco, it was great!
No. Use the subway. Parking in NYC is a nightmare...and SUPER expensive. The trains are inexpensive and convenient to 99% of the sights. Also consider taking the Mega bus or Bolt Bus. They have great fares from NYC.
Don t even think of renting a car, as parking is very hard to find and expensive. Use the subway or take taxis. New York is also very walkable, as it s not particularly hilly.
No. I cannot imagine a bigger waste of money. We actually WALK to places here in NYC. If it s over a mile Subway, bus or taxi.
where would you park it? just use public transportation.
Do you mean a ROOM at a hotel in Cottonwood? You d need to find out what the room rates are for every hotel, add it up and divide it by the number of rooms you added up - that s how you find an average. If you want to know how much rooms go for in Cottonwood, go to one of the usual travel websites and look it up. Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, etc. all have that info.
there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it s very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
Here you go :) In December 1836 Austin was in the new capital of Columbia (now known as West Columbia) where he caught a severe cold; his condition worsened. Doctors were called in, but could not help him. Austin died of pneumonia at noon on December 27, 1836, at the home of George B. McKinstry right outside of what is now West Columbia, Texas. Austin s last words were The independence of Texas is recognized! Don t you see it in the papers?... Upon hearing of Austin s death, Houston ordered an official statement proclaiming: The Father of Texas is no more; the first pioneer of the wilderness has departed. Austin s body was re-interred in 1910 in the Texas State Cemetery in Austin, Texas.
He did not die in Austin, Texas.
Texas is in the southwestern part of the US, and Dallas is in the north central part of Texas.
I agree with Prairie Girl. Texas is considered part of the Southwest portion of the United States.Dallas is in the North Central Texas area. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Sohttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Texas
Its just Texas, which covers a lot of area. SW Midwest South http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=DallasYou might have to use the zoom tool to go out to the country level view Its to the left of the map.It is south but not considered part of the deep south states
The Census Bureau defines Texas as part of the South Central United States, along with Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. I know this isn t a commonly used definition, but I thought it deserved a mention.
It is considered south .
WOWlook it up in a map
