University of California Santa Barbara/ Los Angeles etc? -

I was wondering the likelihood of them admitting out of state people. for example, i have average SAT scores, a 3.8, and im in the top 10 of my class and do a lot of extracurriculars. it says that like 90% of their students are from in state. does that mean i wont get in ??

While it s tough to be admitted from out of state, it s tough to be admitted from in state! UCLA is especially a crap shoot! I know many kids who get into the Ivies but not UCLA. For non-residents, the expenses will be close to the same as a private college. They re raising the basic fee about 30% soon. Beyond the academic requirements, they will also consider your what you bring to the campus, such as diversity, overcoming life challenges, etc.Average SAT scores may be a problem, 2009 Freshmen Admits stats: UCLA - 2001 average SAT, 4.35 weighted/3.86 unweighted avg GPA, 27% of out of state applicants admitted!UCSB - 1876 mean SAT, 4.01 avg GPA, 4% of admits were non-residents (foreign out of state) - doesn t say what percentage of non-resident applicants are admitted.UCLA http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/UCSB http://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/QuickFacthttp://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/SelectionIf you can afford / get aid for the costs, apply!

They re barely letting in California students right now due to budget cuts so the chances of out-of-state students coming in is very slim. That s how crazy California is right now.Plus, even if you got in, keep in mind that your tuition rates are going to go through the roof (about $15,000+) only because your an out-of-state student.

Never hurts to apply, you never know what will happen. And don t forget to check off Berkeley on your UC app! (#1 public school in the nation...)You d be surprised... it seems like they re starting to take in more out of staters because they get more tuition.

Most of the UC campuses are difficult to get into. You should try one of the others in less popular towns. UCLA and UCSB and UCSC are hard to get in.http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/ca

As an out of state student it will be expensive, but give it a shot......If you are from some unrepresented area (Like say Montana or New Hampshire) you will have a better shot...
