Portland oregon for college? -

I m planning on going to portland community college (pcc) after I graduate. I m still trying to decide what campus.. but I m pretty sure I m going to stick with the sylvania campus. my problem is trying to decide where I want to live.. I want to spend a lot of time downtown, but I don t want to live downtown. my friend and I will both be roomates and will both have about 350 each for rent. downtown would be too expensive and theres no parking, but I want to live somewhere that s just a small drive to get there.. where should we live?

I live in the Raleigh Hills area and pay $600 for my one bedroom. My neighbors with the two bedrooms pay $675. It s a quick ride to the Sylvania Campus (15-20 minutes) and quick to down town (another 15-20 minutes). There are also a lot of grocery stores, Target, and the Washington Square Mall near by, as well as Rt 26, I 5, and 217.The problem with Scapoose and St Helens is that the drive to the Sylvania campus will be a long one.

The neighborhoods around Mount Sylvania are reasonably pricedexcept Mountain Park to the east. There are a number of houses for rent with plenty of room for autos, yet it s all conveniently close to central Portland, even by bicycle.

Consider Vancouver (not B.C.), Washington (not D.C.). It is across the Columbia River and about 12 minutes from downtown Portland. Rent is less expensive too.

You should actually consider Scappoose or St Helens, (NOT ST JOHNS)It is cheaper out there, and you can take hwy 30 right into the city

What is a good excuse to go to Erie PA? -

I really need to get to Erie to see my girlfriend because I haven t seen her since the summer. My dad won t let me go just to see her so I need a better reason to travel in that direction. I m working on a college visit but is there anything else that would work, or at least keep me there for a little longer? I m near Philadelphia now. Any new ideas would be appreciated. Once I go to Pennstate-Erie campus I can t exactly go back for a second visit. I m 17 and I have a car. I d rather not just run out there cold (no excuse) but I can if it comes to that.

There s a number of colleges in both the Cleveland/Akron and Buffalo areas, which are conveniently close enough to Erie that you could reasonably drop through these cities before/after an extended stay in Erie. Certainly if you re driving all the way out to these cities, Erie can be worked into the route. Penn State main campus is on the way to Erie, so can be Lock Haven, Clarion, Indiana (PA), PSU Altoona, Juniata, Bloomsburg, Bucknell, and I m sure many more colleges. Pittsburgh with all its colleges can also make a slightly less convenient detour. These don t really bring you to Erie, but at least give you an excuse to head that general direction. Also, Erie was a major historic site from the 1700s when USA, England, and France were all fighting over the Great Lakes...just in case you re immensely into early American history.

what is your career goal? might help with an excuseas Erie area has several colleges and universities if you need an excuse to check out the other schoolsbesides --Penn State BehrandMercyhurst GannonEdinboro

What do people outsid eof Minnesota think of people from Minnesota? -

Just curious, don t lie telll me what you think of minnesota people!

Well im from mn but have travled, and they refer to us as minnesota nice they think we talk with a funny accent like in the movie fargo (WICH IS NOT EVEN IN MINNESOTA FARGO IS IN NORTH DAKOTA!!! (: please remember that) and no we don t talk with the eh you betcha, they do think we have some of the funniest accents saying pop insted of soda and hotdish, wich i thought all those were normal, they usually think of us as friendly, how you will just wave or say hi to someone in the groshery line or on a walk, but in other states they would think your weird for waving or smiling, i always thought it was just polite! but thats what i know of people thinking of minnesotans, o and they think its as cold as hell up here (: -20 really isn t that bad ;) neither is ice fishing!

Most people think that Minnesota is VERY cold in the Winter, just like most people think California is warm all the time (not true).. Many consider it a great vacation place in the Summer with it s 10,000 lakes. Been there MANY times. One of my routes was Los Angeles to Rochester delivering IBM machines. My first wife was a Minnesota farm girl. (should have kept her). I didn t mind the Lefsa , but the Lutefisk tasted like boiler sponge rubber to me. You guys can keep that.stuff.

I like MN people. They are something like Chicagoians and that s awesome. They are hardy, friendly people.

I used to travel frequently and though I visited Minnesota many, many times, I NEVER had a good meal there.

We think you speak funny.
