Did Houston have measurable snow today (Dec. 4)? Early Network News programs expected snow plows? True? -

Today is Friday 12/4/2009 -- did the Houston area have snow this early in December? Was it more of a rain-snow mix? Thanks for posting -- 10 points for prompt and informative answers -- hope everyone is OK7:15 p.m.

It started snowing in south Montgomery County around 9 am and stopped 15 minutes later. It started again around 10 am and stopped after 3 pm. Large flakes were falling steadily for quite a while. But the ground was too warm and it wasn t sticking out here. It was building up on cars that were sitting in parking lots. The sky was rather pretty with all the snow that was falling. Parts of Houston had snow on the grass, but not on the roads. And I m doubt that Houston even has snow plows. It would be a total waste of money I would think. We ve never had enough snow to plow.

We had the earliest snowfall on record today. Tonight is supposed to set a record low temperature. There was an area stretching East-West of Houston that got 2-3 inches. To the North South got more rain than snow, ie. Galveston did not get any snow at all.We are all fine enjoying the rare Winter Wonderland quickly before it melts!

I live 1 hour north of Houston (Cleveland) and we had some snow fall. It was enough for the kids and I to play in and make snowballs and have snowball fights. As far as measurable I m really not sure.

Snowed actually really good Huffman but in the beginning and when it started/stopped it would melt. If it would ve all accumulated on the ground then we d probably have 4-5 inches.

it seems that the southern part of the city (as well as in Brazoria county, where I live) it snowed more than 2 inches.

It was rain snow not that hard just a little.

Not at all.

How much would a taxi from new york to new jersey cost? -

i d like to know how much a cab from new york to new jersey would cost because i wish to go there.

Try this web site to give you a rough idea:http://nyccabfare.com/You also have the option of taking the subway which would be a much cheaper option.

Well, that depends on where in NJ you re going. Taxi here in NYC don t charge by the meter rate outside of the city, therefore, you will need to negotiate a price.I would recommend taking public transit from NYC to NJ. Depending on where you re going, you can NJ Transit commuter trains from Penn Station or NJ Transit buses from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, located at 8th Avenue and 42nd Street.I hope this infomration is very helpful.Good luck

my mom took a cab from new york airport to (I forget the names) the airport in new jersey, the total was 108 dollars, she gave the cab driver a 10 dollar tip so 118. hope that gave you an idea.

what part of new york to what part of new jersey.for instance, in denver a cab is $1.75 to get in and $.50/mile...

A cab from Albany, NY to Atlantic City, NJ will run you around $700.

depends on traffic, but generally, alot.

D.C weather in late March? -

I am going to Washington D.C in late March, and I am wondering what clothes to bring. I live in Hawai i where it is rarely ever below 70 degrees, and I know I will have to go buy some things. I am attending a formal conference and I am not sure what to wear that will keep me warm as well as look chic and comfortable. I know I should buy a coat, but what do I wear for pants? Because it s formal I can t wear jeans. Thanks in advance!

Average temps are just that: averages. Like the other poster said, the day could be 40 degrees or 70 degrees.I suggest bringing a warm jacket and wearing short sleeves. If it s cooler, wear the jacket. If it s warmer, you ve got the short sleeves. For slacks, khakis or business casual slacks are fine -- you won t need wool for sure. The odds are that it s going to be around 55 give or take 10 degrees.

It tends to be a little cool in late March, but not as bitterly cold as it is in January-February. Dressy pants will work (if you re cold, wear stockings underneath), or you can wear heavier tights with a skirt. You probably won t need a heavy coat; a simple trench will probably work.

Rainy and chilly.Usuley around 50-60 degrees. I don t personally think it s cold, but my friend from hawaii complains about the weather from September to May. So.. I d go with just regular warm cloths like coats and hats and all that stuff? Imean, I don t know what your doing, but would they let you take your coat off at the door? Also, like I said it does rain a lot then.

in late march it can be anywhere from 40 to 70 degrees Farenheit... it really depends

Is there ANY way to get to the Rosemont Theater (chicago) by public transportation? -

I live close to Midway, which is the orange line.Is there an easy way to get to the rosemont theater by train and/or bus?thanks!

If I could walk it at -3 degrees one January, you can do it too! It wasn t that far. Now for the Allstate you need a cab, but Rosemont was easy.Just get out at the Rosemont station on the Blue Line, which is the end of the line. Go south 3 blocks.Rosemont Blue Line-5701 N River RdRosemont Theater-5400 N River Rd

Tichur is absolutely correct with his directions, just hop on the train and get off at clark and transfer to the blue line which is underground take the blue line to O Hare which is on the right-hand side when you re going down. Get off at rosemont and walk down Des Plaines River rd to the theater. The site that Tichur gave is a great site, and you can also use google maps

Yes, but you will have a 6 block walk:take the orange line to Clark/Lake transfer to the blue line northboundexit at the Rosemoont CTA stationwalk 0.7 miles south to the theater

orange line to blue line transfer, believe it is the Thompson center. there may be a bus but i don t recall and it s a 6-7 blk walk

Roadtripping BC to California - Need advice!? -

Im planning on roadtripping from Victoria, BC, to Los Angeles California with 2 girlfriends in february. We have 9-11 days to get there and back. We re looking to save as much money as possible,a nd are even wiling to work for a day somewhere along the way if it could earn us some gas money!Any suggestions for cheap travel?OR any suggestions of places to see/stop/stay?Thanks!!

You will literally spend half your time driving here and back. It s a nice trip, and you should enjoy yourselves. Can t help too much with suggestions. I m not really that knowledgeable about what young girls would like to do. Just be aware that you cannot legally work in the U.S. without a work visa. (and you can t get one when you re simply here on holiday).

FWIW that s a lot of driving. It s about 10-11 hours from Portland to San Francisco, and I think it s about 8 hours from Vancouver to Portland. Add another 5-6 hours if you want to visit the LA area. So minimum two days of driving to get to get to the big destinations in CA and two more to get back. If you can find cheap plane fare and rent a car I d recommend that...Personal recommendations:Head to San Francisco. Wander around the city, visit the Marin Headlands, Mt Tamalpais and Muir Woods. Walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. Go to Alcatraz (note get tickets in advance). Ride a cable car. Visit Golden Gate Park and the King Tut exhibit at the deYoung. From there you can head down to LA via the coast highway. Visit Santa Cruz (ride the Giant Dipper roller coaster at the boardwalk) go to Monterey and visit the Aquarium, Carmel and Pt Lobos. Drive through Big Sur and visit Hearst Castle (the fabulous mansion built by the guy Citizen Cane is based on). Go to Santa Barbara and then on to LA (wander around Malibu, Beverley Hills, Disneyland) then on to San Diego (Balboa Park, the SD Zoo, and the Gaslight District.) Wander across the border in Mexico. On the way back visit Yosemite national park.Just some suggestions--doing justice to that itinerary would probably take at least two weeks.Check out hostelworld.com or hostelbookers.com for youth hostels.

SoCal is my area of expertise, so I can t tell you much about anything north of San Francisco. These are fun places to check out: San FranciscoMonterey/CarmelHighway 1 through Big SurSan Simeon (Hearst Castle)Pismo BeachSolvangSanta BarbaraI-5 is MUCH faster than 101, but pretty boring. Kettleman City is the highlight of the drive (and yes, it s as boring as it sounds).

go via I-5 if its not snowing would be your best bet.. otherwise you ll be forced to take the coastal route via Oregon and Cali. it s a nice drive but because of the speed limits and encountered towns along the way it will take much longer
