Munhall, PA: Who can tell me about neighborhoods? -

My wife and I would like to move within a few miles of downtown Pittsburgh. Every so often, I ll go to Pittsburgh for house hunting. It s a day s drive and I can only stay a couple days at a time. Flying or driving, the total cost to me is not far from a thousand bucks each time. I have a realtor, but for a whole lot of reasons there is only so much she can say when I ask her about neigborhoods. I m interested in looking at some places that are on East 9th St near St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church. From aerial shots and photos I ve seen, the area right around the church looks pretty nice, but I m not so sure about the surrounding area, especially what I think is a little further east. Anyone familar with the area that can tell me a little about the street and immediate neighborhood? I d be really appreciative. Thanks!

munhall is OKwest mifflin, is starting to decline due to schools merging with neighboring Duquesne (bad area)also stay away from McKeesport!!

Free Street Parking in NYC (MSG vicinity) on Sunday morning? -

I hear there is no parking meters on Sundays. Were going to the knicks game, which starts at 12noon. Where would be a good place to park free? The spot Doesnt have to be right near MSG. Were entering NYC from the Midtown tunnel and looking to park free. Dont mind walking a few blocks. Just need free parking.thanks

From the Tunnel, turn down Lexington and look for parking there. Continue until about 27th stret or so then look on Park. Circle around, but grab the first spot that you see. The Garden is within a half mile or so.

I happened to drive through the tunnel at 10:30 this morning and saw a lot of spaces around there . Hope you enjoyed the game. Report Abuse

It s true that parking isn t all that difficult to find on a Sunday morning. Remember, though, that many midtown streets are no parking at any time. When you get closer to the rivers, the parking restrictions are lighter, and you re more likely to find a spot.Be aware, though, that while crime is way down in New York, cars are still commonly stolen off of city streets. If you have any sort of desirable car, you probably want to use an anti-theft bar or similar device to make your car less attractive to theft.

My friend, ever heard of public transit. Parking in and around the Garden on a Sunday, in December will be difficult to find. Please leave the car at home and take public transit.Good luck

Take the train.Parking in Midtown is extremely limited and hard to come by.

Why does everyone tell me to stay below the 405 in California?!? -

Am, moving to Cali in February, and every time I say it, people say STAY BELOW THE 405. Why is that?!

Considering the 405 runs north/south, that doesn t make much sense. They obviously don t know what they re talking about, so I wouldn t listen to them if I were you. There are nice places both west and east of the 405 and north and south of the 101 and 110.

The everyone that is telling you that must be living there in Maine, because that phrase is not familiar to people in southern California. Be aware that if you do move here you will be coming to one of the MOST expensive cities in the country with one of the HIGHEST unemployment rates in the country. Be prepared for the price of almost every thing you need or use to be roughly 50% more than it is in Maine. You will also find it nearly impossible to find work here unless your present employer is transferring you here with a guaranteed position.By the way, most Californians consider the term Cali insulting. It compares our state and it s residents to a drug city in South America. People from other states, and a few ignorant Californians too young to understand that that word is intended as a put down are the ONLY one that use it. It instantly marks you as an tourist . We call our state Cal .

I don t even know what that means. Which side of the 405 is considered below ? Do they mean to stay west of the 405 as in this is safer then living east of it?I really don t see what all the hype is about any freeway. The 405, in the city of LA is a major route from one part of LA to another, therefore it will be heavily congested during peak hours. But once these hours have past, it s just another freeway. It all comes down to what time you travel, and where you travel to. Careful planning can avoid you a lot of headaches. But unfortunately out here many people expect to jump in their cars and to have the roads free of traffic, as if they are the only ones out here.

As in staying away from it?Because it s TORTURE I kid you not! It s probably one of the WORST freeways of LA.____________To live below it: Why would you want to live below it? That s stupid! They re either jealous or they re just kidding.

They mean to stay west and south of the 405 freeway when choosing a place to live. The part of LA bounded by the 405, 10 and 605 freeways is the worst part of LA and is to be avoided at all costs.
