How safe would it be to visit New York alone as an 18 year old male? -

Statistically speaking at least, I ve heard many people say that New York these days is one of the safest cities in the Western world in regards to street crime such as random assualts, muggings, etc. However, this aside, do you think it would be safe to visit New York alone as an 18 year old? As I would only be going for a short time I would probably base myself primarily in Manhattan, and I have no intention of wondering around at 3am, nor in rough suburbs. So, providing you keep yourself to yourself, stick to busy areas and keep your valuables concealed how safe is New York? Is there much risk of any problems? Thanks

Depends on the level of naivety, and where you go and what you intend to do.If you are from another big city Chicago, LA, you should be fine. If not I would recommend going with someone more experienced. The city is safer that in the 80 s and 90 s but still I would recommend it.

New York is as safe as anywhere else provided you are sensible and don t make yourself a target. In the main streets of Manhattan you should be safe most of the time. The police and special tourist police have done a good job of cleaning up the tourist city. That said there are people everywhere who will look for opportunity to con you, steal from you and so forth. Provided you are careful and stick to what you said you should be fine. New York is a great place to visit.

I d say that just as long as you know where ur going, u know how 2 tackle big cities and ur pretty with it i see no reason y not - New York is easier than London 2 get around in my opinion because of the grid system and I d feel alot safer living in New York than London :)

My friend, that s the reason why nearly 50 million visitors visit this city every year, because its a very safe city to visit. Since you re going to be primarily in Manhattan, you ll be fine.Good luck

kid your gonna ******* get assaulted the first day. new yorkers hate immigrants and they love to rob your money. they did to me (the taxi cab driver)............go to Queens and you ll probably get shot just walking down. well good luck to u!

safe New York City is probably the safest large city on the planet, you are probably thinking of New York City during the 1970 s when it was a giant slum

Depends on where you go and what you do. It s generally quite safe, though. Just don t do anything you wouldn t do in your own town anyway.

Its extremely safe. Especially if you re in Manhattan, as opposed to hanging in the ghetto. Nothing to worry about.

It depends on if you plan on doing lots of drugs and or drinking and or driving while drinking and on drugs vs going to your aunts house and watching tv

yeah sure but stick to the tourist spots, you dont want to be in the bronx with your nice expensive camera and designer tops.

How safe? Very safe!!

Of course its safe. How many 18 year old males do you think live in NY? Are they in fear? Grow some balls!

It s about as safe as it would be for anybody else. Not really sure what point you re trying to make.

It completely depends on how you watch yourself and where you go. I m a 21yo female and I m going to Ireland alone for 5 months, and I d rather not have anyone with me. Some subway stations let off at odd locations that may be dark and un-peopled late at night, so tour most of where you re going and how you re getting back to your hotel during the day so you know what places to avoid at night, or just take a taxi. Wallet chains have a use, get one. Pick-pockets can be a problem anywhere, but the larger the city and the smaller your company, the more likely, so if people can t just grab and run, they probably won t take your stuff. Typical tourist rules, don t keep a lot of money in one spot so you don t lose everything if you do lose something. Keep an ID and a phone on you at all times, and when traveling in remote locations, make friends with someone on the subway or so, just so you aren t alone and out of hearing range of someone. I d say you should be fine.

Where is a good chill spot in austin? -

I want somewhere that isn t a business, somewhere outside of the downtown bussel.

The greenbelt is awesome this time of year - specifically, the twin falls area. The leaves are changing color, the water is flowing, and the trails are in good shape.I hope this helps; happy chilling!

The rear seat.My Grandfather had an Austin A30, it had no heating, so it was really good for getting not only cold in, but for chilling in too.Sash.
