What is the best city in US to live? -

i prefer one with good weather

haha seattle rains if you like rainy weather. NYC is polluted and not really good weather unless you travel outside that huge city. I live in Clearwater Florida and it has decent sunny weather but it s really humid and warm. Even today December 13 (winter) it is 80 F (26 C)!!!California is amazing!! south can be warm and north is cooler. There s desert in south and snowy mountains in winter up north. I say California. North has great weather. I went to Big Sur and Monterrey. Clear, cool, but still sunny. Rainy sometimes: http://www.sfbayimages.com/new_images/40sunny: http://fineartamerica.com/images-medium/ Monterey Bay (aquarium) http://fineartamerica.com/images-medium/Big Sur http://mongabay.org/images/big_sur/big_sBasically North California is cooler, cool blue water more relaxed and better for hikes, fishing, bike riding and relaxing in mountain-like areasSouthern is warmer and relaxing on the beach. Both north and south are good for surfing :DSoooo if you want to be more secluded: Big Surclose to cities: Montereyin a city: San Fransisco; really cool japanese gardesn, Chinatown, art galleries, shops Hope you find this useful

San Francisco, LA, or San Diego. Miami and Houston are other options. If you don t mind cold weather I suggest Chicago, Denver or Boston.

san deigo, has amazing weather it s just a beautiful place to be =) the beaches there are killer.

San Diego, seatle, Probably more of the west side. Somewhere in Wyoming be cause its very peaceful.

Phoenix has the best weather, always warm and sunny!

It all depends in how you live and adapt to your enviornment

well there are thousands of cities be easier if you said what state but i like madison in Wisconsin Great college town love it there haha and UWM most parties in all america haha

Seattle or New York City

Best Ways to Spend a Saturday in New York City with my Girlfriend? -

My girlfiend and are going to NYC for the day on saturday. We are going to take public trans from Philadelphia in the morning. I am 23 and my gf is 22 (been together for almost 2.5 years). I have never been to NYC but my girlfriend has a number of times. I would like a mix of touristy stuff and just all around nice things to do in NYC. -cool places go/see-nice lunch spots (not too expensive) How would you recommend we spend the day in NYC?The more ideas, suggestions and details the better

Congrats to you both!I am going to NYC this weekend as well. Taking public transportation is brutal, especially if you plan on taking Septa Regional Rail to Trenton, NJ to take their train into NYC Penn Station. I found a better way of getting to NYC with an hour to hour and a half drive and it costs me about 20 bucks round trip. I take Boltbus www.boltbus.com which is located right across the street from 30th street station, behind the old post office. It has free wi-fi and a bathroom. And its quiet and a nice ride to spend with someone. The seats are roomy, leather and have seat belts as well. I am going to see a broadway show which I got tickets off of broadwaybox.com - and I got the 6th row from the stage for 70 bucks. The seats originally cost $200! You get really good deals on that website and they have practically every show on there! I personally love Central Park- they have the biggest skating rink and its really nice and romantic! There s also ice skating at Rockefeller which is smaller but they have it all decked out in holiday decorations - with the biggest tree you will ever see. But what is even better is you can go up on the rockefeller building and see out into the city and eat. And you can go any time of the day or night! You cant go wrong with Times Square and 5th Ave shopping- but Bryant Park is a nice place to go and escape. Have a nice lunch and get away from the craziness of people. There is a lot to do but I do advise that you do not eat at the Hard Rock and Planet Hollywood-their way over priced and the food is terrible-and that goes for pretty much every restaurant in Times Square. There s lots of cool pizza shops and food places and restaurants along 5th and 6th Ave and they arent that expensive! Dylans candy bar on Park ave is really cool. You will have so much fun in there-theres candy everywhere and they have the best goodies you will ever find!Have a good time!!

What is the most southern state? -

Not litterally. When you think of a southern state, which one pops into your head first? Also which southern state has the most southern traditions

AlabamaTexas is more western than southern. And while Florida is literally the most southern, it s only southern in the northern part of the state.

I believe it is Georgia with its beautiful old southern mansions on plantations, pecan groves, southern hospitality, magnolia trees, refined southern accents, close family ties, etc. Who can think of Gone With the Wind without thinking of Georgia. Lovely state in the old south. They will defend the south until the day they die :)

I usually think of the Alamo , Texas as the most southern state. Not all of Texas has Southern traditions, like Austin for example, but I can t help but getting reminded of Bar-B-Q and the Dallas Cowboys. It really does get Southern in rural Texas.

The first one that pops up is Hawaii, then Florida , and Texas in that order.

Alabama and Mississippi.

What are there to do in San Francisco? -

going to be San Francisco as my flight has a 2 day stop over. What are the places/attractions/things to do while in San Francisco for only 2 days?

Looks like possible cold, rainy weather. It s overcast now a few drops on the car windshield this morning. So you would probably need to dress accordingly and plan to take public transit to see indoor things if you come and it is raining.Did you come to shop (or window shop)? Then go to Macy s or Westfield Mall.Did you want to ride the cable car and go to Pier 39, then you might need an umbrella so you don t get soaked when walking.Do you want to take the Metro or Market St. streetcar to the Ferry Building to look at the shops and eat there?Do you like art? Then go to the galleries: 49 Geary has many art galleries you can pick up a Gallery Guide at the desk of one of the art dealers. Looking is free. If you want to see a permanent collection, go to the SF Museum of Modern Art: you would need to pay an entrance fee.

You could take a cable car down to the Wharf and start on one end and walk to other end. Many attractions along the way to shop, eat, tour, mini harbor cruise, etc. Have dinner at the Franciscan in the middle of the Wharf on the bay for a wonderful sight of the bridge, Alcatraz, etc., plus the food is great. Try the calamari for an appetizer. Check out the vendors on the street corners. There is one near the Buena Vista (stop in here for an Irish Coffee) that has gemstone jewelry and is quite good and reasonably priced. Have one of the street artists do a caricature of you for a remembrance souvenir

Isabella,Take a look at our San Francisco Events Calendar. It s full of things to do in San Francisco. We maintain listings of all kinds of fun and interesting events going on in the San Francisco area. You can sort it by category and by date. New events are being added all the time so make sure you check back before your trip.Have fun!

*_~ So glad that you re considering San Francisco for your vacation.Try to stay in Union Square. http://www.unionsquareshop.com/ When you arrive at the airport, take the SFO air train that goes around the airport, then youll get off when you see Bart, take Bart to Powell Station (should be about $6-9 and it takes 20 mins ) thats Union Square. http://www.bart.gov/ for schedule..I just love the weather and the diverse culture here!! Traffic can be hectic but still bearable. Public transport is great! You can always take Bart, ferries, bus, taxi or cable car etc. However, if you dont have much time or want to travel beyond the city C I think a car would help a lot. Yes, you have to pay for parking, but save you time to go more places faster.. Try the City Sightseeing Open Top Bus Tour which is about $30. This unique open-topped bus tour of San Francisco includes four different routes, the Downtown Loop, the Golden Gate Loop, the Park Loop, and the Night Loop. You re free to hop on and off as often as you want on the downtown loop.Embarcadero is wicked nice, and it s not THAT far, so you could really just walk down it to the Ferry Building. http://www.ferrybuildingmarketplace.com/ On Saturdays they do a nice farmer s market and you can get lots of good stuff. Walk down to Pier 39.GET THE San Franciso POPOUT Maps I loves these POPOUT map- you get to see where you are- =) No Thinking required, especially on vacation. (Look at the pictures.)I have about 20 of these map of different cities.. It was so useful when I was in Europe! To Save money: get the Go San Francisco, http://www.smartdestinations.com/san-fra Cable Car (Union Sq to Ferry BuildingPier 39Alcatraz or Angel Island Japan townLombard StreetChinatownCoit TowerFishermen s Wharf Union Square for ShoppingGolden Gate Park C Walk across the bridgeAcademy of Science Union StreetOcean BeachExploratoriumPalace of Fine ArtsSan Francisco ZooWestfield Shopping CentreDeYoung MuseumYerba Buena GardensSF Giants Fair at AT T Park Take the ferry to Tiburon or SausalitoSegates is a great way to travel around the city.Gray Line s Yosemite in a day- Daily depart 7am San Francisco Giants- Baseball Game49ers- Football gamesWinchester Mystery House Mansion- overrated. Don t limit yourself to overcrowded SF. San Jose, Monterey and Santa Cruz are just a short drive south from San Francisco. Napa is just north if you enjoy wine tasting. Once you see alcatraz, the golden gate and lombard st in SF it s pretty uninteresting.

shopping at union square, fisherman s wharf, angel island, alcatraz, haight/ashbury, lots of things!

Fisherman s Wharf, Alcatraz Jail, eat..... Many things.

Trip to NY but...Can I stay in Philly and ride the train to NY to avoid insane hotel prices? -

Don t want to stay in a hostel or pay over $100 bucks a night. Thats why im asking.

Stay in Philly and take the train. The trip from Philly to NYC on Amtrak take about an hour each way and the one way fare ranges from $64 on the Regional to $208 on the Acela Express. If you take one of the Keystone Service from 30th Street - Philly to Penn Station in New York, the one way fare will cost you about $45.Alternatively, you can take the commuter train from Philly to New York via Trenton. From Philly, take SEPTA Regional Rail R7 from 30th Street - Philly to Trenton where a connection can be made to NJ Transit s Northeast Corridor Line to NYC. The trip take about an hour and a half to two hours each way, but its cheaper. The total one way fare is about $20 ($40 round trip).I hope this information is very helpful.Good luckNative New Yorker

But if you stay in Philadelphia, what you save on hotels is what you ll spend in transportation getting to and from New York. Then, there s the time it ll take to go back and forth. It s a long trip, and it ll quickly become expensive.Look for hotels in the other boroughs, especially some parts of Queens. Some places in New Jersey might be useful, especially if they have easy access to a bus to the Port Authority Bus Terminal or a train to New York Penn Station.

why don t you stay in new jersey instead? that way you could just go over to staten island and ride the ferry over to manhattan for free. plus, the ferry ride only takes about 30 minutes, which would save you a lot more time. not only would you be spending extra money on the train, but you would also be throwing away precious hours of time...time that you could be spending in manhattan.

Its not worth it. If you want to avoid high hotel prices than stay in another NY borrow, New Jersey, or CT. Also try the online hotel booking websites. I was in Manhattan last month and stayed in a room normally priced 800 dollars for 200 dollars. Price line, travelocity, kayak.com are all good places to start looking to get better hotel prices.

you could stay in Philly but your commute by train is gonna take you a few hours man Philly is about and hour and a half two hours driving from NYC no traffic. Im gonna say no its not worth it.

How is daily life in Hawaii? -

how is daily life in Hawaii?, how do hawaiians live their daily lives? (Honolulu, Specifically) u know, jobs, transport, etc.

People here live their day to day lives pretty much the way folks do anywhere else. More people here have to hold down more than one job in order to make ends meet there are more families that live with three generations under one roof because of the high cost of living. Traffic on Oahu is pretty bad. A large percentage of the jobs are in the hospitality industry.

We re not all classified as Hawaiians as everybody is of different ethnic groups. You call us locals. We live like everybody else in the US: parents/adults go to work, kids/students go to school, we pay bills, shop, hang with friends, watch movies, whatever.

don t stress. you don t need money in hawaii. that s why they call it paradise. because it s free. you can sleep at the beach for free, under the stars and the ocean breeze. it s very nice. just bring some blankets because it can get cold sometimes. or you can just build yourself a nice apartment, just find some cardboard boxes and some newspaper, and there you go, you got yourself your own beach front apartment with ocean side view! you re going to have a wonderful time! food is free too! like, outside some restaurants, if you look in the garbage cans, you can find some of the best most delicious foods! you won t believe the stuff they throw away! very delicious! You don t need to rent a car too, because it is a small island, so you can basically can walk anyways you please. but if you get tired walking, all you need to do is stick your thumb out at a car, and it will stop and give you a ride anywhere you wish! isn t that great!!no need money! hawaii is a paradise, free for all to enjoy!!

It s just fine thanks.I get up in the morning brush my teeth etc, go to work, pay bills, hang out with friends on weekends.Pretty much like anywhere else in America except we are warm all the time.

Pretty much like anywhere else.

fine..

I am in need of writing a letter to the highest person in charge of the Nassua County (in Long Island, NY)? -

I am in need of writing a letter to the highest person in charge of the Nassua County (in Long Island, NY) Police Department. I dont know his or her name and what to call the person. Please reply back to this Question with the following if you can.1. The first and last name of the person.2. What is more appropriate to put in the letter, Dear (first name) or Dear (last name) ?3. What are there ranked name (leuitenant, sargent, etc)Thank you, please respond back as soon as possible !

Sure. Here is the link to that department s Website:http://www.police.co.nassau.ny.us/index.This site will give you more information than you need, but it is all interesting and worthwhile.1. I would think the Commissioner (named on the site) is the top official. Go to the site, click on Commissioner in the left menu.2. Until you have established a more casual relationship, it is definitely best to refer to the commissioner and other officials with their title. Dear Commissioner (Last Name Here) would do just fine. Likewise, Dear Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Officer, etc would be appropriate. If there is any doubt about the exact rank or title, you may certainly use Mr., Mrs., or Ms, depending on the individual case.3. The ranks are also given on the site. The menu at the left is just full of good stuff.4. I added this one. Please, please, please, when you write to them spell their name correctly. This is not only for the individuals but also for the department. Notice that you have spelled the county as Nassua twice, but it is actually Nassau. Well, good luck on your project. It should be a good one for you.

1. Lawrence W. Mulvey 2. Dear Commissioner Mulvey:3. Commissioner of PoliceAlso, you should be careful to spell Nassau (a before the u, not after) correctly in your letter.

Is Milwaukee a city or state ? -

All of my friends are saying Milwaukee is a state but they would never believe me so i don t start a arguement

Milwaukee, Wisconsin Wisconsin is the stateMilwaukee is a cityhttp://www.mapquest.com for proof

You have to be kidding. What, these kids don t pay attention in Geography class... It just re-enforces my lack of faith in our public schools. It also re-enforces my belief that kids today are spending too much time on the Internet and that parents should be cracking down and making them study instead.

Da, don t you know the fifty states song. its not a state its a city. Please learn the state song. it will help.

Well here, I ll end the argument for you:Milwaukee is a city. Period.
