It s a long trip, and it ll quickly become expensive.Look for hotels in the other boroughs, especially some parts of Queens. Some places in New Jersey might be useful, especially if they have easy access to a bus to the Port Authority Bus Terminal or a train to New York Penn Station.
why don t you stay in new jersey instead? that way you could just go over to staten island and ride the ferry over to manhattan for free. plus, the ferry ride only takes about 30 minutes, which would save you a lot more time. not only would you be spending extra money on the train, but you would also be throwing away precious hours of time...time that you could be spending in manhattan.
Its not worth it. If you want to avoid high hotel prices than stay in another NY borrow, New Jersey, or CT. Also try the online hotel booking websites. I was in Manhattan last month and stayed in a room normally priced 800 dollars for 200 dollars. Price line, travelocity, kayak.com are all good places to start looking to get better hotel prices.
you could stay in Philly but your commute by train is gonna take you a few hours man Philly is about and hour and a half two hours driving from NYC no traffic. Im gonna say no its not worth it.
