Ride the train... most scenic route is Anchorage to Seward, you can do that trip round trip same day and take a day cruise out of Seward to see marine life such as whales, otters, and seals and glaciers. Also there are a number of other places the train goes www.alaskarailroad.com. In Anchorage, there is the Alaska Native Heritage Center, there you can learn about Native cultures and see how they live in bush Alaska today, also there is a place called the Bear and Raven Theater. They have an excellent movie about the Iditarod. And take a walk around downtown Anchorage. The Town Square is really beautiful in the summer with flowers and a fountain, and near by is the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. Right on the water.. very very beautiful. There is also a City Trolley tour that starts on 4th Ave. I think the cost is about $10 per person and it is about an hour. It takes you around Anchorage to learn a little bit about the history. Let me know if you have any questions... Feel free to email me!
