Besides gambling, what is there to do in vegas? -

thanks.

Penn and Teller is the best thing that ever happened to Vegas- go see their show, it s amazing. There are also tons of other shows and if you go out walking during the day you can find people handing out discount vouchers. Also, go to the old Vegas strip Freemont Street. It s all the Vegas cliches in one place plus a giant overhead, tunnel-shaped TV screen that plays a show every hour. You can get deep fried cookies, $6 Prime Rib dinners, beer in a giant plastic cup that you have to drink with a crazy straw and see the best Prince Impersonator anywhere. Back near the big hotels, you can go shopping- there s even an actual mall, but all the hotels have shops and the shopping areas have the theme of the hotel--especially visit The Venetian Hotel to see the replica indoor Venice Italy complete with canals. There are art exhibits sometimes and other events going on in the hotels all the time. There is a wax museum, among other museums that range from kitsch to fine art. There are night clubs and lounges, coffee bars, strip clubs. Check out the Beatles Revolution Cafe/night club--it has this incredible interactive video wall.Visit the desert nearby if you have time.

Shows - there is a show for everyone in Vegas. Some good ones include the Cirque shows, Penn Teller, Lance Burton, Blue Man Group, Jersey Boys, Phantom....but there are many more.Shopping - there are high end shops at the Grand Canal Shops in Venetian and the Forum Shops at Caesars, a mix of high end and more typical mall stores at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, and a big typical mall near Treasure Island (Fashion Show Mall).Rides - there is a great roller coaster at NYNY and some crazy rides on top of StratosphereStratosphere - the restaurant at Stratosphere is a bit pricey, but pretty neat. It is at the top and it revolves. The view from the top is also amazing, and it s fun to watch people on the rides.Maddam Tussaud s Wax Museum at Venetian is really coolThere are clubs everywhere, and some fun bars too. Carnaval Court, Toby Keith s Bar Grille, and Piano Bar are worth checking out at Harrah s, and NYNY has Coyote Ugly and another piano bar.Check out the sights on the strip. All of the hotels have something unique about them, and I like wandering around and looking at everything.Free shows on the strip - Bellagio Fountains, Mirage volcanoes, Pirate show at Treasure IslandOther attractions include the Conservatory inside Bellagio, the lion exhibit at MGM, Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, and the Secret Garden Dolphin Habitat at Mirage.

Prospecting; horseback riding; off-road racing; sight-seeing; dining in world class restaurants; greatest shows in the business; all the great comedians, singers dancers; animal acts; like a circus every night. There is hiking and back-packing in the desert.Use you imagination. What do you want to do? You can find it in Vegas. You can bet on it.

Away from the tourist area of Strip is a regular city but on Strip there is lots (see www.lasvegasnow.com which is TV8 web)Madame Tussauds Wax MuseumShark ReefHordes of shows like 6 cirque, Phantom of the Opera, Jersey Boys, LeReve, Tournament of Kings dinner show, Lance Burton, Blue Man Group, Terry Fator, and moreLas Vegas Springs Preserve101 story ride to top of Stratosphere to see entire valley (esp sunset) and 3 scarey ridesForum Shops with 2 free anatronic statute showsSigfried Roys Secret Garden

There are tons of things to do while visiting Vegas, all sorts of great restaurants and attractions! Check out http://www.VegasMadeEasy.com for a full guide of all there is to do in Vegas!

There are lots to do in Vegas besides gambling. Here are a few fun things to do in Vegashttp://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/things-to

I could care less about gambling. I go there to see the shows - Penn Teller, broadway shows, and musicians that I like.

EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRY!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to strip clubs, see Cirque du Soleil, get drunk, murder a prostitute, etc.

See a show.Eat at a celebrity chef s restaurant.Go to Hoover Dam.

see the shows, go to hoover dam, take a bus tour of the city, and eat at thewonderful buffets.

Go to Red Rock Canyon, tour the Dam, visit lake Mead, see shows, ride the rides

there are a wide range of things to see and do while in vegas...for me though, the top two are;GOLF EAT!

Um, work? live? love? What does anybody else do in a town that they live in?

You could get arrested...that Vince, always coming up with new ideas!

Great shows with top notch entertainers.

Get married

Need advice on visiting Maui, Hawaii? -

While researching about Maui, some say stay at Kaanapali and others say stay at Kihei/Wailea. Now, I am a bit confused on how I should plan my trip. I have about 4 full days to spend apart from all the travel. The plan is to visit sometime during the last 2 weeks of March. This will be the first time me and my wife will be visiting any island in Hawaii. My ultimate goal is to make sure this trip will be one of the best experiences visiting an island. I have the following questions:(1) Which part of Maui do you recommend staying? Kaanappali or Kihei/Wailea or any other side? And what hotels do you recommend staying?(2) Within 4 days, is it possible to cover more than one side of the Maui island and still have time left to relax and enjoy the island? OR Do you recommend staying at just one side to enjoy the trip?(3) What do you recommend as far as visiting and in which order? I am sure there are a lot of places to visit. But given the limited time, how should one go about on the list of places to see and in which priority and still have time left to relax and enjoy the island?(4) Any other gotchas you recommend based on your travel experience?(5) Any places to avoid where there could be trouble for tourists?

Maui is for kicking back on perfect resorts at perfect beaches, and there are less sites to visit here, but those that ARE here are amazing. Both Ka anapali and Wailea are seamless planned resort communities, and the decision is frequently made on cost: The resorts are more luxurious and much more expensive on Wailea which is considered the upscale resort community. Ka anapali is the original resort area on Maui, is larger and less expensive. The other factor is if you like to shop: Ka anapali is next to the historic whaler s town of Lahaina where much of the shopping is, and Ka anapali itself has a nice shopping center. Wailea has an upscale shopping center but that s about it.Kihei is in a different category: It is the town adjacent to Wailea and many of the privately-owned condos are here. You can probably stay for less money here, but are not going to get the seamless service and resort experience you will in the actul resort areas. You can enjoy the best that Maui has to offer in four days. What you see depends on whether or not you are going to any of the other islands or if this is it. What I would recommend:* The highway to Hana will be one of your top highlights. It takes a few hours over a winding road along a sea cliff through the rain forest on the windward side of Maui, to the secluded town of Hana (Hana means flower in Japanese). You pass bamboo forests, one-land bridges and tropical waterfalls at every turn in some places. There are small farmers who sell fresh banana bread on stands along the way, each one has a different (and secret) recipe. This is an all-day excursion, and theoretically you can t go all the way around the island here (you can, but it is a dirt road and you will void your car rental agreement). Some visitors check out and overnight it in Hana at the internationally famous Hotel Hana Maui (very $$$$$) or the Hana Kai condotel (less $$$), and if you want to do jungle-hiking this may be worth it. It depends how active you are, but with only 4 nights you may want to stay in one resort and drive back from Hana without overnighting it. Also, some resort discounts require 3 or 4 consecutive nights for an additional discount if you are trying to watch costs.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hana_Highwahttp://hanakaimaui.com/http://hotelhanamaui.com/* There is a famous area to see sea turtles called Turtle Town near Makena Beach (near the Makena Prince, adjacent to Wailea). Alternately, you can take a cruise to the submerged caldera filled with coral called Molokini, a few miles off shore. Each of these will take a half day.http://www.hawaiisnorkelingguide.com/turhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molokini* I don t think it is worth getting up at 2AM to see it, but many do the drive to the summit to see the sunrise over Haleakala Crater. This is a LIVE volcano (currently dormant). It is worth seeing the crater, bring a sweatshirt or sweater!! There are multiple companies that will give you a bus ride up to see the sunrise, and then give you a bike so can ride all the way downhill to Kula. It looks a bit dangerous to me, I have never done it. This is a half-day excursion.* You should plan on spending a day (and possible short tour) of Lahaina, it is a quaint and historic city. Will take a half day. Those are the highlights. Other things to do based on your interests are: Iao Needle, a beautiful, lush tropical park that focuses on Polynesian plants, great hiking; A zipline tour where you hike up into the jungle and then jump off cliffs hooked onto a line...they start you off on easy jumps, then get progressively higher (zipline tours started on Maui!); and more good snorkeling around Napili and Kapalua. Maui is also famous for some of the best windsurfing in the world.http://www.zipline.com/HOTELS=======Because you are only here for four days, the resort community of Kapalua will probably be too far for you, even though the Ritz Carlton resort here is less expensive than other 5-star resorts on Maui (the inconvenience of its location is the reason for the good price).I already mentioned the hotels in Hana, but the other hotels to consider are:* Hyatt Ka anapali - the best resort in Ka anapali* The Sheraton and Westin are similar (next to each other and the Hyatt), so if you don t stay at the Hyatt choose one of the others based on availability and price* Four Seasons Maui (Wailea) - Best resort on Maui, but the highest price* The Grand Wailea - This is the local s traditional favorite hotel on MauiNote: Some local Hawaiians own private property adjacent to tourist areas, such as on the way to Hana and do not particularly like tourists. You will see many KAPU (taboo) signs...HEED THEM and do not trespass.

What are the following Festivals in Seattle for? -

Bumbershoot, Fremont Fair, Bite of Seattle, North West Flower Garden Show.I m just curious, I ve heard about all of them and was interested. As I am thinking of moving to Seattle and wanted to see what events were big. TIA

Bumbershoot Cis an annual international music and arts festival held in Seattle, Washington. One of North America s largest such festivals, it takes place every Labor Day weekend at the 74-acre (299,000 m2) Seattle Center, which was built for the 1962 World s Fair. Seattle Center includes indoor theaters, outdoor stages, McCaw Hall, and Memorial Stadium. The name of the festival was taken from bumbershoot, a colloquial term for umbrella, probably coined in the 19th century as a portmanteau of umbrella and parachute. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BumbershootSummer Solstice Parade and Pageant- is an annual event sponsored and produced by the Fremont Arts Council (FAC), an organization that supports the arts and artists in and around the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Started in 1989 by Barbara Luecke and Peter Toms, the parade quickly grew to thousands of spectators and hundreds of participants. The parade kicks off the Fremont Fair, a benefit for the Fremont Public Association. The pageant, a large-scale community play using over a hundred dancers, musicians and giant puppets, follows the parade at the end of the parade route at Gas Works Park. Admission to the fair is free but donations (advertised to end poverty, and donated to the Fremont Public Association) are encouraged. The parade is famous for its wild and creative floats and ensembles and for the Solstice Cyclists who strip down before the parade and paint their bodies unofficially start the parade every year.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fremont_FaiBite of Seattle is an annual food festival that takes place over three days in July at Seattle, Washington, USA s Seattle Center.Founded by Alan Silverman, the president of Festivals, Inc., the first festival was held in 1982 at Green Lake, with 25 restaurants participating and 75,000 in attendance. In 2003, there were 60 restaurants participating with over 450,000 visitors.http://www.biteofseattle.com/home/defaulNorthwest Flower Garden Show is an annual exhibition of horticulture held in Seattle, USA, for one week each February. It is the largest garden show west of Philadelphia. It is held inside the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. The show features display gardens, awards, seminars, and a marketplace for plants and gardening supplies.http://www.gardenshow.com/Google is your friend ;)Also a list of fairs festivals in Seattle- http://www.seattle.gov/html/VISITOR/fest

Instead of a Wikipedia answer, I ll tell you from a local s POV.Bumpershoot: Hundreds of bands over the span of Labor Day weekend. Lots of food, pot, festival type stuff. Lots of famous artists in the stadium and local bands. Huge attendance (I don t go anymore because it costs so much).Fremont Fair: Awesome parade where naked people bike and paint themselves, there are cool floats, and all the hippies come out. You can buy lots of cool souvinery things.Bite of Seattle: It has music, not on the scale of Bumbershoot, but good enough. Its basically just tons of food stands from all over the world. Go if you re hungry, but it s gotten expensiveYou should move here, it rocks!!!

Yeah every season during the year and every year the Downtown Association does those events to bring color to the city and make it mor attractive for the visitors and also for the residents to enjoy. Here is thier link http://www.downtownseattle.com/

Bumbershoot is definitely worth checking out. We attended the Bite of Seattle this year and were really disappointed.

Why do so many people in Southern Calif. travel to Palm springs every weekend? -

They buy real expensive vacation homes,But What is it about Palm springs? What do they do and all?

I really don t understand either, it s a small, BORING place to go toand like 80% of the people there are gay, which there is nothing wrong with, but I don t know, maybe the warm weather helps their arthritis problems?

Things are not that expensive if you are wealthy.People go out to the Palm Springs area to get away from the city life. The desert environment is very relaxing for many people and the weather out there is preferred by some.Palm Springs is not that far away, which is why many love to go out there. They do whatever people do on vacations. Golfing, relaxing, hiking, and shopping, are all great things to do out there.

it s basically a smaller version of vegas and is only about half the distance. many movie stars have homes there. it s a celebrity get-away, althogh not as much as it used to be. bob hope used to live there. there are some casinos/hotels as well.

It is a bit warmer in the winter and people enjoy the heat. I enjoy hiking up in the springs up in ht hills. But other than that I don t see why there is a need for every weekend.

It s a Gaycation Everybody needs time to get away and relax. I m currently in Phoenix. Not that there s anything wrong with Phoenix.
