Will I get into Salisbury University (MD)? -

I have a GPA of 3.3 and my SAT score is 1710. I recently applied, so I won t know anytime soon. I just want to get someone else s opinion, other than my mom. I m pretty sure she HAS to say I ll be fun and that I have nothing to worry about :)Thanks for the help!

well you might need to bring you GPA up a little. for the best scholarships a GPA of 3.5 or above is good. but you should go to the university of Oklahoma here in Norman, Oklahoma. we have an Excellent academic program and there and great frats. and a nice campus. and getting an apartment is really cheap and you get great quality for the price.

I d say there is a 95% chance you will.

For a romantic date in Miami/Fort Lauderdale... ? -

Can you give me some ideas for a romantic date in Miami or Fort Lauderdale at night ? Like cruises, water taxis, or something like that... I don t really know what we can do there, and I would be pleased to receive suggestions. Thanks !

THE Florida everglades, fairchild botanic gardens, miami beach,

Water Taxi rides are awesome. Start off at Shooters for a nice dinner. It s off of Oakland Park and the intercoastal. Go down to Las Olas River Front where they have some night clubs to go dancing at or even a cinema. Or even have a starter drink at Shooters, head to Las Olas for some lovely dinner ideas there. You could even get off there for dinner, then head over to the Center of Performing Arts for a show. You are in a city of wonders. I didn t spend much time in Miami so can t suggest there.

Whould it be fair to say that chicago has many problems now because of its fast growth as a city? -

I am not sure now, but Chicago is or was one of the fastest growing cities in the world in the first sixty years or so. It went from roughly 4000 people to 1.7 million people in the first 60 years of existence! No other city has done that, at least around the 19th century, not even New york! Do you think that is why Chicago has corruption, crime, and political thugs?

You would enjoy the PBS Show American Experience. They did a 3 show series called Chicago: City of the Century about the very growth you are talking about, all of the problems you mention nd how Chicago was really a wild west city of a million people. Chicago had crime but the more notable and organized crime came after that period, notably the mafia and drug cartels. Both frankly came from restrictive laws. The mafias, originally Irish north siders and Italian south siders, were an issue but rose to prominence after the prohibition. Drugs were not really enforced until the 20th century and opium parties among the rich were not uncommon before that. Criminalizing them made criminals rich, and still does. I don t personally care for legalizing pot but is it really worth jailing someone for something so minor? Political thugs, yes those have always been around and always will be. They will evolve and societal morays on what they can get away with will change. Just human nature. New York had Tammany Hall, Indiana was run by the KKK in the 1920 s (the fine outstanding Christian Organization they sold themselves as) and Louisiana had Huey Long in the 30 s. Chicago is not alone.

Every big city has problems, the main problem is Daley, if the police could crack down on gangs or use different methods things would be better, all of the aldermen are afraid of Mayor Daley and agree with everything that he says. But against what you said about how Chicago is a fast growing city, in the last few years the population has actually been decreasing. Also Chicago doesn t have the dirtiest politics in the US, there are others, but just since it s a big city our politics are noticed more.

i think so too, but almost every growing city is like that but there is a lot of crime.there is also a lot of crime in beloit but only some parts. chicago is big, growing fast and full of crimes you are correct but it is still a great place to go.

that stuff is in every city. Chicago by far more than other cities though has it s assets far outweigh the little negatives. it keeps growing for a reason. people love it here

Do I need a photo I.D. to take a Greyhound bus? -

My wallet was stolen in New York, so it took forever to get back my S.S. card and birth certificate, but I am off by one point to get my I.D. And now, due to financial difficulties, I must move back to Wisconsin. Do I need an I.D. to get back? Someone I know took a bus from Arizona to New York and they didn t need an I.D. If I do need one, can someone tell me another bus station/company that I won t need an I.D. for?

you do for all buses.

i am sure you do but check out there website .http://www.greyhound.com/home/

Should i move to new york? -

Im 18 and currently live in Brisbane, Australia, which, for those of you who don t know is a fairly spread out and relaxed city on the Queensland Coast. I have just finished my last year of school and would like to move to a city where a bit more happens socially and culturally. I have never been to New York but am considering looking at moving there based on what i have heard so far: so i would like to know the pros and cons of living there (i would most likely looking at living in manhattan). The other option i was considering was moving to Melbourne, again any thoughts and advice or comparisons would be greatly appreciated.

What would you do for money? You can t work here legally, unless you get a work visa, which is highly unlikely for an uneducated 18 year old. I suggest that you stay in Australia till you have a marketable skill that might lead to a visa here in the U.S.

You will be neither mugged, carjacked nor murdered. This is one of the safest large cities in America. Nonetheless, it is also the city where housing is least affordable, so visit first, then make up your mind. You can subscribe to realtor.com to get an idea of what housing costs here. The unit size appropriate for a single man is Studio or 1 bedroom. Manhattan is out of the question unless you come from wealth because even outer borough apartments start at $1000/month. (American dollars)

Your best choice is to visit there or go to school there first. My son went to NYU, and when he graduated in Film and Television Production. I asked him if he wanted to stay there. He said New York is a wonderful place under two conditions: If you are a student, or if you are rich. Judging from your age, I would recommend looking at schools in New York. The fact that you are exotic will be in your favor with an admissions committee.

If you like the city life yes, but, i live in North Colonie, a town near albany new youk(wich is more economically stable and better looking than albany) If you want a quiet neighborhood with a peaceful neighborhood, i would suggest colonie (North Colonie that is)

New York City is a great city to live in if you are rich. There is theater, great shopping, and exciting nightlife. Real estate is extremely expensive, so don t expect to live in any place decent without a lot of money. Traffic and crime are terrible.

Nah fuc k it! Move to America, you only live once, you may as well get out there and experience as much as you can. If i had the money i would move to Whistler in Canada in a heart beat.

i think New York is a great option. You can go there for a month,or spend the summer there to see if you like it then you can move if u want:)good luck

if you want to get mugged, carjacked and murdered yes you should.

I d suggest moving to Melbourne. It is hard moving at 18 years old. I d suggest only moving to New York if you plan on living on dorm at a university. At least you can get a student loan and get home in the summer. I don t quite know what your situation is at home or with college aspirations though. Unless you come from money, Manhattan isn t the option. New York is cool, but it isn t as made out to be as it is. It basically is America s cultural capital. But what ever culture it is we have in our country is about as dry as your outback. We re not a very sophisticated people whom most lack basic intellect and have no ambition of acquiring it. I say move to a city like Paris. Or Tokyo. Try a new type of culture that you can learn something from. Or if you stay in the Anglosphere, London is a nice option. These are all very expensive cities though.Since you re 18, go for Paris. Why? Need I say? It ll be a lot harder getting women in New York. There are a few reasons why. One, just like all of America, we tend to have high obesity rates and NYC is no exclusion. You re talking about 35-40% of women and than another 30% who are 15-30 pounds over weight. Go to Paris or Rome and the first thing you ll notice is that is a lot less. I don t know if it is something about cultures with English heritage being a little overweight because while we are into looks, we just don t take the work to maintain it like Latin cultures like French, Italians or Spanish. You re young. Enjoy yourself. At least go to a city in America where there are lots of hotties like Miami or Honolulu. New York City is full of women who are in a rush and are so picky they d prefer hanging out with their gay male friends than dating straight men.

i live in new york and if you live in australia and move here you will be in for a wake up call. right now its 30 but it gets wayy colder actually it can get up to 60 degrees colder. (-30) and the summers can get hot too. we got 101 once but im sure your used to that.and also it all depends on where in ny you want to live. you def dont want to move to nyc the rents are really high there and you can barly make it down the sidewalk without squeezing through tons of shoppers. dont get me wrong its great for weekend shoping trips but not for livingcentral ny is more suburban exsept in the city of syracuse. it can get crazy thereup state gets alot of lake effect snow in the winter (central square area)and last would be the area around elmira its more country-ish. so thats what ny looks like and feels like. so do you want to move here? idk i wish i could move.

What is life like in Alaska? -

I am moving to Alaska in a year and I am scared. I have grown up in a city and i love life here the fast pace, traffic, and all the things there is to do.. shopping, nightlife, beach etc. Im moving because my boyfriend will be there and we are looking to start our life together there.. but im scared ill be living in a place w nothing to do...

Cold and expensive... men outnumber women 10 to 1

Really depends on what part of AK you are moving too. The big city here is Anchorage. Offers you all that a normal big city would. Cept its damn cold in the winters. Every city has something to offer, otherwise we would all have gone insane along time ago. you just gotta get out there and look around. look on community boards, take a class at the gym and meet new people. nothing to be scared of, Alaskan s have always been thought to be some pretty damn friendly people.

I love it here. If you move to Anchorage there s a fun bar scene, malls, and it s full of people. If you aren t a pessimist I m sure you ll find something to do. Why don t you befriend people on Myspace or Facebook from Alaska to get an idea of our everyday lifestyle?

i think you will not live like an Eskimo in Alaska, I think you can either survive in other country like in Antarctica.
