Best time to leave for Las Vegas? -

I m going from LA on Friday and I need to know what would be the time that I should head on the road.

I used to leave about 10 a.m. a little behind traffic so I could get into town early enough to roam around a bit and get settled in the hotel. It s about a four to six hour drive give or take depending on traffic and where you are coming from in LA.

I will leave as early as possible. You will be going against traffic heading out of LA. 9am - 10am. LA -Vegas traffic starts building up around 1pmhttp://www.lasvegas-how-to.com

I would say if you leave about 11am you should get there about 3pm, if your stopping at Baker to get gas and eat which i usually do, then expect around 4pm..

I moved from southern CA to Las Vegas. If me I would leave right after the a.m. rush. About 10am.

As soon as possible as you ll miss all the fun.

Did New York live up to your expectations? -

A lot of people seem to have an opinion about New York.....But for those that have actually moved there.......did the city live up to your expectations or were you disappointed?

Actually no. We expected much more during our trip. It was not as exciting as they make it out to be. it was pretty grimy too. The skyline was not as big as I expected, in fact I have seen bigger in other cities. There is no nice waterfront of any kind there like you get in Miami, Chicago or California. And it is just way to noisy and crowded.

I don t know why in the world these people are even talking about NYC like this, I don t think they visited the right spots. I live here, yeh sometimes it gets annoying ( mostly because of all the tourists that are always freakin standing and moving like ants and make me late to school !!!) but when i just stop to look at it sometimes ( to really really look at it) then I realize how cool it is. If you come here, willing to walk and explore, and spend money, then you will enjoy it. But if you just come, stay at the hotel, then go outside and expect everything to be there, then NO. It s really big, and there are a lottttt of places, too much to do. SO there is no way that people didn t find something fun to do.and btw for those who answered.. Nyc is crowded and dirty because of tourists (honestly)! New Yorkers don t have time to leave their garbage or stand around. ehh I think they should cut down on some of this tourism stuff.

I visited and was disappointed. I thought they had taller buildings and lots of them, but they really don t. I also did not like how dirty it is there, and the crowds always rubbing against you where ever you go. I can go on all day. was not impressed at all. wish I had gone elsewherewow! I thought we had a bad time there until I saw these other responses from others as well, so i guess it was not just us

I do not see why anyone likes New York. It is really dirty, really crowded and the people there are the most DEMANDING, impatient, rude azzholes I have ever encountered in my life. Also the prices are extremely high.

I love the city; for those who do not, your loss!

Not happy, your losses.

What is the drive time from NYC to philly during rush hour? -

Is it possible to commute from NYC or Newark to a suburb of Philly daily? How long will it take by car? What time should a person start?

University of hawaii at manoa (several questions)? -

what s your opinion on it ?is it a fun school?what test scores do you need to get in?what is the average gpa?is it a good school in general?are the dorm rooms nice?-really just any info you have on it! I m a junior this year from colorado, and I am considering going there :)

University of Hawaii at Manoa (UH, for short), is a pretty good school I think, but classes have been cut because of the budget and all this financial stuff going on now. Because of this I will only be a part-time student next semester. :-( Anyway, UH does have some strong departments like music and English. And medicine. Here s the freshman admissions page:http://www.uhm.hawaii.edu/admissions/undThe freshmen dorms (ie. The Towers), aren t too nice. Small rooms. Personally I like Gateway House and Frear Hall (the newest dorm) I heard is pretty nice. Frear is the only dorm building that has AC I believe, the others don t.One thing I like about UH is the food, especially at Campus Center. :-)

http://manoa.hawaii.edu/Not as a college seeker, but I ve only been to the Hawaiian campus of Brigham Young University (L?ie, Oahu Island) and UH-Hilo (Hilo, Hawaii Big Island). Just check at UHM s website (see link above).

Anyone who lives in either Florida or Arizona? -

I am looking to go to college out of ny state, somewhere really really warm. What are the pros and cons of living in Florida and Arizona- and which would you prefer?

I don t live in either Florida or Arizona but all I can say is definitely not Arizona. My science teacher from high school moved to Arizona and he hates it!

well I dont have any teachers that moved there so not sure bout that but I went there for the summer and thought it was prety nice, dry heat, lots of stuff to do outdoors, mountains, but you have to like the heat which can go over 120 but little humidity which I prefer over 80-90% humidity in fl. Florida, much more diversityArizona, HELL (and they know it)

What park is the mad hatter at in disney world in florida? -

i m going to florida with my cheerleading team in two weeks and i want to propose to the mad hatter, it sounds stupid but you wouldn t get it. i just need to know what park he s at so i can find him! thank you!!!!

You will find Disney characters all over Disney World (as opposed to EPCOT, Disney-MGM Studios, etc.). The Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland might tend to hang out around the Fantasyland section of the park. PS: I hope he says yes.

The Mad Hatter isn t a very common character in the parks, but he is findable. He isn t out every single day though. The only park he makes appearances at is The Magic Kingdom. When you go into the park, first get a times guide and see if he s listed on there. Many characters are listed on there, along with times places where you can find them. They are not all listed there though. If he s not listed there, ask at City Hall if he ll be out for meet greets that day, and they may be able to help you.The one place he appears in the park is by The Tea Cups in Fantasyland. When you enter the Magic Kingdom, go straight through the castle and you ll be in Fantasyland. The Tea Cups often have characters from Alice in Wonderland out. I ve seen Mad Hatter, Alice, White Rabbit and Queen of Hearts there. The other place that Mad Hatter frequently makes appearances is not in the parks, but is at the Grand Floridian Resort. He appears at breakfasts at the restaurant 1900 Park Faire along with other characters. You would want to have reservations for this breakfast as far as 90 days in advance, as it books up very quickly. Call 1-407-WDW-DINE to make reservations. To get to the Grand Floridian from the Magic Kingdom, just hop on the resort monorail. It ll take you right there for free!Other than those two places, the Mad Hatter is not known for being anywhere else except during the Halloween party, which is over for the year. Check out this character site for any other Mad Hatter or character questions. It s very accurate!http://home.att.net/~disneysue/character

You can talk to him at the character breakfast at 99 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian! He is there with Mary Poppins.

How much would a general manager get paid at a resort like The Venetian in Las Vegas? -

Depends on the resort and how long the person has been employed. Average is around 80 for those with years and years experience. You don t just walk into the job you have to work your way up the line and that takes decades

A property the size of Venetian is not organized like a traditional hotel. There would not be one single person at the General Manager level like at a Sheraton or Hilton. There will be several people at the executive level each with a different area of responsibility (restaurants, hotel rooms, casino, entertainment, nightlife, marketing) that all have to work together to run the property.

Not as much as you think.....I would say between $60-75K.
