How much are current Cell Phone Tickets in NY? -

Just got a cell phone ticket.. Bam ...caught ...can t say I was not asking for it to be honest. I was on speaker phone of all things but I was holding the phone and they saw me. Another expensive lesson learned. Well I was just asking what are current fines because with their crummy surcharges and other b.s. it came out to $220. Just checking if thats about right.. Thanks and be careful out there.

Well, the charge is $100 plus there is a $60 surcharge, not to mention other charges involved. However, you can might be able to get out of a ticket if you can prove to the judge that since getting the ticket, you have gone out and purchased a hand-free phone or cell phone devise, such as a Bluetooth ear plug for your phone. Now, if you where texting while driving, well that s another $100 plus a $60 surcharge. In New York State the law on texting while at the wheel took effect last month.I hope this information is very helpful.Good luck

Winter in LA/Anaheim..what is it like? -

I recently booked a vacation package for the Christmas week in Anaheim. What is the weather like in LA during this winter season? What should we pack to wear? ( We live in Toronto, so we just received our first snowfall now so we can tolerate SOME cold to a degree.) Are the beaches nice during this time? What else would you recommend?

Not too sure what planet that other person is living on, but Los Angeles does get quite chilly at times during winter. The beach will be too cold to enjoy for long.

Our cold and your cold are not the same thing (I ve worked at CTV in Toronto in Jan). But the difference is that our cold usually doesn t last. This week is very chilly for us mid-50sF and rain. But these spells usually don t last long. Daytime temps = It s not uncommon for it to be mid/upper 70sF for Christmas. A few years back it was in the high 90sF. Night time temps = are usually in the 50sF around this time of year. The beaches will be nice to walk around but it most likely will not be sunbathing weather. You asked in your other question about vegetarian restaurants. At the end of many of the locals piers is a restaurant called Ruby s. It is really a hamburger shake joint but they have garden burgers. A few months back, I eat at the one on the Huntington Beach Pier; we saw dolphins, porpoises, and some pelicans - not a normal day at a So Cal beach. You should also look into the Whale Watching tours. I think it might be Blue Whale migration period.

Cold? LOL. We have completely different definitions of cold. One of the games I love to play at Disneyland (I m an annual passholder, and go about 50 times per year) is called Spot the Canadian . It s really quite fun this time of year. High temps this week are in the 60 s. Locals are all bundled up with heavy jackets, hoods, etc. The Canadians are strolling down Main Street in cutoffs or shorts that haven t seen the light of day since the 1970 s. It s really quite funny. Conan O Brien said it best the other night: Temperatures in Los Angeles got to 40 degrees... the death toll has not been released yet. (People from LA won t really get it, but other areas will). That cracked me up.Keep an eye on weather.com. This week temps are in the 50 s and 60 s, but it s not unusual to have temps in the 70 s or 80 s if the Santa Ana winds blow. It rained yesterday, so the local mountains have some snow: Beautiful to look at. It s hard to tell this far in advance, so just keep an eye on the Internet for weather. We might have rain, but traditionally it s just cool and sunny. Bring clothing for cool weather, and a pair of shorts.Unfortunately, since we get our ocean currents from Alaska, the beaches aren t that nice this time of year. They re nice in that they are not crowded, perfect for biking or skateboarding, but not really for sunbathing or swimming.Email me or IM me if you need more info as the time approaches. I ran out of room on my other answer.

What is there to do in san antonio, texas? -

I ve lived here for almost all my life so but there s still stuff to do. Visit the alamo and then some of the places around it like Ripley s believe it or not and Guinness world records. when you re finished, try the tower of the americas. right now it s Christmas time so walk down the river walk and Look at the Christmas lights, go to some of the restaurants and shops around the river walk, you should even take the boats around. that s not all but that s all I m saying for now. when your finished, you ll easily find other stuff to do. have a great time here.

There s the typical tourist stuff such as visiting the Alamo, walking along the Riverwalk, visiting the art galleries in Southtown, shopping at La Cantera and North Star Mall. If you don t want to the typical San Antonio stuff, I suggest you find a crazy party. Get really wasted and I mean drink to black and make out with the hottest guy you see and just blame it on the a-a-a-alcohol. No, I m just kidding about that. I would suggest you also visit Alamo Quarry, The San Antonio Zoo (but I don t know if it s open during the winter months), the Japanese Tea Gardens (Sunken Gardens), visit Mission San Jose, eat at Rosario s and have their Enchiladas Suizas because they are the bomb, and go to the La Villita. O yeah, also go to Sam s Burger Joint because they have live music on weekends. Also, go to Pat O Briens or COCO Chocolate Lounge. Actually, I really hope that you go to COCO s because it always goes down at that place, I ve had some good times there and it s classy!

there are so many things to do go to the river walk, go to the missions, go to los maples when the leaves turned (oct) i mean there is octoberfest also. there are alot of things you can do each month there are things to do if you want to. parades to attend and basketball games and stuff like that. i mean there are school games to attend. you can swim in pools and you can just go to the museums. go to clubs if you drink. go to restraunts.

There is the alamo of course. There are some really cool museums I don t really like sports so idk if basketball is in season but I do know there team is the spurs. There is also a six flags. And there are alot of other really cool places too. :) oh! And the riverwalk!

i used to live there well you could go to the silverado 16 theater you could go to resturants and the alamo sea world fiesta texas. it is a great city.

Visit the Alamo, Fiesta Texas, Seaworld... The Riverwalk is great (take some money)

The RIVERWALK! It s awesome. Like Venice. Only cleaner. And with a big shopping mall.

look at mustangs. the place is infested with mustangs. i mean the cars. lol. i hate mustangs

ride aminals on the ranch and shoot things. or walk around in the heat.thats my opinion from a nova scotians POV. :)

punch people in the blood.

Mount rainier or olympia national park? -

i am visiting may 1st and would like to know which one is more interesting. Seems as if i would have to pay ferry to take my car to olympia from seattle anyone know how much?

Olympia!! Not even close. Olympia national park is one of the coolest parks that I have been to in the US. Yes, you will have to take a ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island but it s not that much. It is like $12 for you and your car each way. You should go south, however, after leaving Olympia and go to Lake Quinault and stay at the Forest Service Lodge. Get reservations ahead of time - it is very, very cool. Another great place is Kalaloch Lodge on the coast. Also Forest Service and very, very nice. Here are sites:http://www.visitkalaloch.com/index.cfmhttp://www.visitlakequinault.com/Have fun!!

tough choice but I would pick olympic nat l park--it has the mountains, rain forest and coast...mt rainier just has the mountains (which are amazing in their own right)...a ferry is not that expensive so dont let that persuade your decision

Can you tell me anything about San Francisco State University? -

If you go there, or know anything about it, what is it like? Is the business program good? I ll take any info I can get.

i personally like the campus a lot. but yeah budget cuts are screwing everyone over right now. i had to stand for the first 2 weeks because my classes were jammed full of people trying to add.

right now with the budget cuts, it really sucks because theres like a million people trying to get into a class that can only hold 100 people. but for business, its pretty much why people go to sfsu

Visiting Ground zero in NY? -

I am going to New York next year and I would like to visit Ground Zero. Do locals think it s offensive if you take a picture? seeing that it is not a sight, it is a grave.

I have visited the World Trade Center site a few times as I ve passed through the area. As others have said, it is a construction site - fences and wood boards are up. There are posters describing the construction and the events of that one terrible day in 2001. Take photos, but please, do so respectfully. Take photos simply to document to yourself the magnitude of what happened, and what the transition looks like. I have taken photos of the cranes, trucks, the PATH trains running through the new station, things like that, just as a reminder of just how massive this is.Taking photos is not offensive. It is a way to permanently keep memories. That said, do not take wide-smiling, posed group shots or otherwise make light of the site. That is what would be offensive.Treat it as you would a cemetery. Quietly and respectfully take photos of things that somehow have significance to you.I hope this is helpful. Enjoy your visit, and thank you for asking.

I lost my sister at Ground Zero and have visited it numerous times. It is something to see and I m glad that you feel the need to see it. Everyone should, but I hope your intention is to pay homage to the individuals that lost their lives that day and not to think of it as cool place to get pictures. Once again, I m glad you want to see it, but I just hope your intentions are good ones.

Brigitte, its a construction site at the moment, therefore, there is nothing much to see. However, you can check the Earthcam website for view the construction site in progress at the link below.http://www.earthcam.com/usa/newyork/grouThere is also a museum, located on Vesey Street between Church and Broadway, where you can view models of the complex when it is completed in about 3 to 4 years.http://nativenewyorker10454.blogspot.comI hope this information is very helpful.Good luck

It s a construction site. So if you want a picture of a construction site, go ahead. What s offensive is when tourists take a pictures of themselves, arm in arm, with a sh1teating grin on their faces in front of the chain linked fence.

More interesting would be to visit the church at the northeast corner of Ground Zero [St. Paul s, I think it is]. They have [or at least HAD] very moving info about the 9/11 attacks.

Well it won t be offensive, and there s nothing much to see their just to let u know. But it would be nice going to there. Good luck!

About how much would it cost to rent a car to drive from Detroit to Las Vegas (6,000 miles)? -

Can someone give me even a rough estimate price any car cheapest possible reliable car with air conditioning be putting about 6,000 miles on the car driving... would it be cheaper to just get a plane ticket and take a cab from where I want to go in Las Vegas ? (4,000 miles or so there and back and another 2,000 going somewhere else while there)

Round trip airfare can be less than 300, at the moment. I think your best bet would be to fly, then rent a car in Las Vegas to do the local traveling.Compact car rental rates for a month, with a pick up and drop off in Detroit, vary from $480 to $930. Intermediate size car rates for a month $550 to $1900. Larger cars are even more costly. Those charges do NOT include taxes and fees, which probably add at least another 100. Those rates also may not be for unlimited mileage. Plus gas, and lodging and food for several days on the road in each direction. Even with the cheapest care rental, I think the total trip cost could easily be in the area of 2000.Car rental companies have changed their practices a lot in the past 10 years or so, and sometimes, the cars are only allowed to be operated in the state in which they were rented, and the surrounding states - in other words, it would be a rental agreement violation to drive beyond Indiana. You would have to check out the rental terms very carefully to decide if they would work for you.

most car rental companies include free mileage so that is not the issue - it will be gas, and the time it will take to get you there. (I frequently rent a car to go several thousand miles rather than drive my own)Better option rent the car in Vegas. Their transport service in Vegas is pretty good anyway - Here is a link to the options:http://off2vegas.com/transit.html

Get a ticket. Renting a car for just a couple days would be as much as a ticket there. And then theres the mileage issue. Most renting companies give u a certain limit. and i know that 1000 is above that limit. so a ticket is the best way to go. U shouldnt waste ur time searching for a car. Just a waste of time.

it would be cheaper to fly because most companies will charge about .75 or more a mile after 2000
