Can you avoid rats and mice by living in a high-rise (in NYC)? Like say... the 11th floor and above? -

I m moving to NYC soon (Manhattan, around Midtown or Chelsea) and I want to know if living at the top of a high-rise apartment complex will help me avoid rodents. I know cleanliness helps, but I also know that rodents don t know how clean your home is before they enter. To any NYC-inhabitants reading this, have you ever seen mice or rats in your (or anyone else s) high-rise apartment? Thanks in advance.

Rats and mice can go anywhere. And they hardly exist anyways in NYC. But if u saw one one time u can go buy a rat trap from a store and set it up for the rat/mice. Good luck!

It isn t so much that cleanliness helps. Cleanliness is everything. A rodent will do amazing things to find food. Climbing to the top of a high rise is nothing to them. What they cannot deal with is when you cut off the food supply. Dispose of trash in the proper manner and rodents vanish. Live like a pig and you are sending them an engraved invitation. That s all there is to it. Clean up after yourself and you won t see rodents.

Mice and rats travel through walls and pipes and will go anywhere there is food, even at the top of high-rise apartment complexes. They re just less likely to be there than on the lower floors.

What is the best suburb/neighborhood near/in Seattle? -

I am in the Army and will soon ETS (get out). I am stationed at Ft. Lewis and absolutely LOVE Washington as does my wife, so I am thinking of settling there when I get out. I really want to look into being a police office in Seattle, and I know living in Seattle proper is out of the question on a cop s salary, so I am looking or some thoughts on the best place to live near Seattle. My criteria are as follows: Decent commute to Seattle (don t laugh), good schools/daycare (I ll have a 6 year old, a 5 year old, and a 2.5 year old when I ETS), low crime rate, and manageable cost of living. I ve lived in the Bothell area all my life and I love it. It is right off of 405 which allows easy access to the freeway.. Bellevue is also a beautiful area now, it is truly up and coming.. Depending on your income, I d say Bothell, Bellevue, and Woodinville are your best options. Northshore School District is actually fairly good. Hope this helps..Take care!

My Daughter attended St Louis Job Corps. She liked it and recommend other young people to attend. There are always going to be a few bad apples, but they have basically zero tolerance there. You are not obligated to remain there if you don t want to.

Depends, if you like more of the scenic area and landscape... Big Island, Maui, Molokai, and Kauai would be a good place to move to. There aren t a lot of shopping malls and a lot of the island is preserved. It s quit breathtaking. However, Oahu is the most industrialized island. Lots of tourist attractions, malls, you name it. I was born and raised on Oahu, pretty good place to raise your kids.Oh, yeah, the crime rate on the islands are low. You don t hear too much about shootings, murders etc. Just thought I d throw that in, any island would be a good place to go!

Aloha!If i still needed to work and didnt have an internet only job I would have to live on Oahu - there are more jobs on this, the most populated island!Rents will depend on if you live in Honolulu or in a smaller community outside of the city, even then the cost of living is high, so do your research and be prepared! Compare it to living in NYC or LA

i d have to say the Big Island,born and raised here and its probably one of the best islands to be on in my opinion and experience.

Although, it is a construction site at the moment, it is worth going. There is a preview center on Vessey Street between Broadway and Church Street, where you can see how the complex will look like in about 4 to 5 years.Good luck

The Apex center at 72nd and Alkire in Arvada 80004. New rec center. Indoor pool with big slides, kid pool, lap pool, 2 hot tubs. A climbing wall, ice rink, all that stuff. Its not too cheap, About $8 for adults, $5 for kids. Food there is regular price. I d have better suggestions, but its to cold to go outside!

Apex also has ice rinks as does Westminster at the theater/rec/shopping complex at 104th and Boulder-Denver Turnpike (hw 36) Arvada has turned the Old Town into quaint shops and a coffee house/restaurant or two.The Arvada Playhouse always has something going on. Other than that you are kinda out of luck for nightlife. Someone correct me if I m wrong.

I think there are a lot of details you have left out...It is a pre-payment of travel and health expenses to a third party escrow agent (financial institution) supposedly paid by the employer, hiring over sea workers, to guarantee at the end of an employment contract that the hired person has the funds to return somewhere, (and also that the accepting nation doesn t get stuck with health and travel expenses when they kick someone out of their country)...This should have been arranged and planned with the employer, long before showing up at the airport. This is more of an issue but not exlusive to in some ummm, transits between third world countries....Most big international companies are exempt from this, but it should have been explained to the employee in any event.......Interesting question !!!!!!
