What do you think of ppl hiking places like Mt. Hood? Should it be allowed (considering the huge cost? -

of rescue)

I think it should be allowed, but I also think that this time of year you should have to post some kind of bond that would pay for your rescue if you need it, and you should also be REQUIRED to carry beacon locators, which the people who are lost on the mountain right now are NOT carrying.

Yes. People should be allowed to hike anywhere in the Pacific Northwest. Sometimes things happen and people get in trouble. They could have been boating off the coast or they could have been hunting in Eastern Washington. There is a search and rescue going on now in Whitman County. Should we ban hunting or hiking in this area as well?

well first off 90% of people who attempt hiking it dont require a rescue--with that rationale there are hundreds of things people shouldnt be allowed to do becasue of a risk of needing a costly rescue

They should be allowed, but there should be some kind of trip insurance they need to buy before attempting it, so that it is not the taxpayers bailing them out if they get in trouble.

Im going to Seattle for Winter Break. What to bring? amp;what to do there? -

Hi, I have a month off from college. I m in Texas now, and I will be going to Seattle for Christmas. I know it will be very cold.. What do I need to bring? and What do you recommend in Seattle? What are the must-do s/see s? Thank you!! Happy holidays!

Hello!Considering this year s weather (It was about 18 degrees in Seattle today...) I would bring a warm winter jacket, a rain jacket, and some warm long-sleeve shirts, a sweatshirt...etc. The temperatures between Seattle and Texas will be different... :)Some very good tourist attractions are:Space Needle: A must see, but it is kind of pricey..Pike Place Market: Home of the Flying Fish , and the first ever Starbucks. A must see if you enjoy coffee. If you go downtown, there are many shopping malls and stores. The Museum of Flight EMP (Experience Music Project) If you like music, this Museum is dedicated to it. A must see for any type of music fan. (It s really close to the Space Needle too!)Visit the observation tower at the Columbia Tower, it s the tallest building in Seattle. Plus it s cheaper and you don t have to wait in a huge line. :) There are many parks, where you could walk, bike, jog, etc. (but you might not want to do that if it s raining or snowing. :) )The Pacific Northwest Ballet (I think that s what it s called..) is doing a annual Nutcracker preformance. You might want to reaserch more about that, because I m not sure where it s at, etc.I hope I gave you some good ideas!Have fun in Seattle, and Happy Holidays! :)

bring rain coats and all that but i still hope it snows, go to the ferry, space middle, china town, and there are pretty good parks to visit

Excess funds must be saved on the beneficiary s behalf. Also, periodic accounting reports that shows where the benefits went - how it was spent or were it has been saved - must be filed with the Social Security Administration. Did the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant ever go into operation? -

When I was at Fort Ord in 1981-82, I used to hear a lot of news about protests at the Diablo Canyon plant near San Luis Obispo, trying to stop the place from operating. Did anything ever come of that?

No, it s still operating. I have a bunch of family/friends that work there. I live 15 miles from here.

I remember the protests being all over the news as well. The only things that came of it was they (PG E) improved the structure of the plant to be more earthquake resistant and we got a rate increase to pay for the 5 or 6 years of litigation the protesters caused. The plant had both reactors operating by the mid 80 s.

It is still in operation to this day. Not sure where you heard that it was no longer in service.I went to school at Cal Poly in nearby SLO and I never remember seeing picket lines there.EDIT: PGE is in negitions for a 20 year extension on the contract at Diablo Canyon.
