I would try the Disney web site and if you are military or retired military try Shades of Green.
It is actually busy that time of year. That is when the Disney World marathon is going on and it always packed that week. There are also many people who just come for New Years and stay a few days after. The last two weeks of January are usually dead.
You need to book directly with Disney. It is likely that the specific package with your airline has sold out, that doesnt mean the hotels are full, only that specfic package. I recommend you check online at www.disneyworld.com or call Disney directly at 407-W-DISNEY.
WDW is running a buy 4 get 7 special on packages for Moderate and Deluxe resorts and buy 5 get 7 on the value resorts.Your best deal it to directly through the disney website.
usually around that time of the month is the WDW marathon . that draws lots of runners.
Call disney reservation line direct or go on their web site. don t use a vacation agent.
