Port Authority of New York and New Jersey tunnels and bridges toll? -

for the port authority Lincoln tunnel, Holland Tunnel and George Washington Bridge why is there only a toll heading west into new york city why isn t there a toll heading east into new jersey?

It s essentially a toll for a round trip. If you head into NJ, you ve probably either already paid a toll coming into NY, or you ll return to pay a toll coming into NY at some point. These tolls are often higher than tolls on roadways that charge the tolls in both directions, so it s as if you re paying the toll for both directions at the same time.In addition, charging tolls on outbound traffic would cause severe backups leaving the city, forcing the backups to affect already-congested city traffic. Imagine the already-messy Holland Tunnel plaza charging outbound tolls, and having traffic backed up through the tunnel, back into downtown Manhattan, worse than it already is? Or, on the GWB, backing traffic up onto the Cross Bronx...I shudder at the thought. It s already a parking lot - they d need to make it a two-tiered parking lot to fit everybody!

That because outbound traffic, heading for NJ is free, while traffic heading for the city have to pay a toll of between $6 to $8.I hope this information is very helpful.Good luck

you head east into nyc and west into new jersey. geography is a good thing, my friend.

Is JFK airport nearer to Yale University than La Guardia airport? -

Neither airport is particularly close to Yale University, but distance wise as the crow flies, LGA is closer. Have you taken a look at flying into New Haven itself or into Hartford? Both of those airports are in CT, and are much closer than the NYC airports. Even White Plains is closer to New Haven then LGA or JFK.

Neither is particularly close. Either one would require you to get to Manhattan to connect to the train for New Haven. You could probably get there from LaG a little quicker, but it is close. I think that the ride is easier from JFK, alsoo.

It is about the same but the good news is you can use Primetime Connecticut Shuttle which provides door to door service.http://www.2theairport.com

La Guardia is closer, but the two are only by about 10 miles apart, which, considering New Haven is 70 miles away, is a small diffrence.

La Guardia is closer to Yale but not by much.
