Emmigrating to the USA? -

My mum her partner [he will soon be fianc as he s going to propose to my mum this visit as he s told me] are very close and have had long talks about whether it s best for us, work, family, and my education to move to the USA, or for him to move here. He lives in Washington, just outside of Frederick in Maryland, and we live in the North East of England. So far we re at the conclusion it s best for me and mum to move there. She s looked extensively into visas and I have also looked and we believe we d need K Visas as David is going to sponsor us and as theyll marry, and I am under 21 and the daughter of the emigrant, I will either file onto her K Visa, or I will go under a K2 Visa. I know there are a lot of forms, but where would I begin if I were to help. David is arriving here next week, so we re going to discuss things and maybe even begin t make trips to embassies etc. He s also contacted an attorney in Frederick who is helping him free as they re friends. I d be attempting to get a job and I am 17, if we re successful, after 9-10 months I will be nearly 18, but still a minor and under 21, so that shouldn t affect me too much ?My mum is 45 and David is 44. My mum s divorced and David is waiting for his ex wife to file divorce. He lives with his adoptive brother in a large house by the Appalachian Mountains. By the time we d applied for a visa and gone through filing and paper work, he d hopefully be able to have a small apartment for us. My mum is being made redundant in March as far as we know [her work is messing about] and David is unemployed but job seeking. I do not atten college or school, I am also looking for a job.The other thing is, we have two pets, one cat and on dog. Our cat will be seven and our dog will be just under 2 years old. We know we need rabies shots for both, but what else would we need?Is that enough info? Thanks

Well I don t know about the visa part, I think you need to ask vets if your pets would be in quarantine for 6 months or not. I am not sure on that. David doesn t have to wait for his wife to file for divorce, he can do that himself. I am concerned as to how he can get a visa for your Mum if he is still married. A divorce in America can take years if children are involved. If the divorce is uncontested, it can still take months to process, depending on how many court cases are being heard in the county they file in. So even if they file an uncontested divorce today, the divorce may not be final for several months. Also, he has to consider that there may be issues, like property and such, that may be contested, and that can draw the case even longer. I think David is putting the cart before the horse. He needs to file for divorce, not wait on his wife to do it, and then when his divorce is final and he has papers to prove that, then he can worry about getting engaged to your Mum. It is very expensive to live in the area you are talking about, and unlikely that an apartment will allow pets in that area also. I think you and your Mum need to try and look up web sites in that area and look for jobs and rental properties and maybe contact some chamber of commerce in the area. We have a web site called usnpl.com and you can click on states and then cities and read newspapers in those areas. The classified ads will list apartments and houses for rent and have a section for jobs also. Do your homework before you uproot yourselves. It sounds like David is full of a lot of promises he can t keep. I think you and your Mum need to be careful here. Your Mum needs to learn the prove it word, so she doesn t get herself into a big mess. Peace be with you.

Does any one know any good cheap places to go near San Fransisco for Christmas? East bay side? -

My boyfreind s 16 year old daughter is coming down from out of town. Just wanting to show her a good time without him being homeless. Know any good places to go for Christmas break?

Not sure if you are asking about a destination for an outing or a place to stay.Regarding activities, there are several wonderful places where someone can walk for blocks and see a rich mix of specialty shops, restaurants, coffee shops/bakeries, theaters, bookstores and so on. One of these is College Avenue, which runs between Broadway (originating in Oakland at California College of Art) and ends about 2 miles north of that on Bancroft Street (University of California, Berkeley campus). One of the principal nodes along this stretch of mixed use is Rockridge. There is a BART station there. Some people take the BART train from San Francisco to the Rockridge station and hoof it in that area along College Avenue for a few hours. You might find something very interesting there. Afternoon to early evening is the best time.

Union Sq- walking around or ice skating there.. Here s a site.. Hope it helps..http://www.bayareaonthecheap.com/

check with the hotels near your home for a local s discount . this is prime travel season rates go up exponentially.

Renting a house in America while using a tourist visa, is this possible? -

Is this possible if I use a 6 month tourist visa. I don t want to work but I have enough money to last me the six months. I also want to live in the state of Rhode Island. Thanks

Yes, you may. Many people do. You may have an easier time finding a furnished condo or town house than a house, but you certainly may rent .

Whats a good church to attend around the Seattle, WA area? -

I m somewhat new to Seattle and am currently looking for a friendly church to attend. I m non-denominational, and am just primarily interested in finding a welcoming and warm Christian community. I m 21, and would really like it if I could find a church with some residents around my age! Anywhere around Seattle or the surrounding areas is great!!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!

I m 20 and go to The INN at University Presbyterian Church in the U District. It s on Tuesday nights at the corner of 16th 47th. It s a great time of worship, a message and fellowship for college students from all over the city--mostly UW because of proximity, but even SPU, SU, and various community colleges. I also go to UPC on Sunday nights (their 7pm service is a lot more laid back and low-key), but The INN is a great place to start. I m not Presbyterian, but that totally doesn t matter at The Inn.

Definitely check out Mars Hill church. Its Seattle s biggest church with multiple locations and is fun, non-compromising, non-denominational and mostly filled with young people and young families. I loved it when I lived in Seattle.

I go to a church called BOLCCIS. It stands for Bread Of Lfe Christian Church in Seattle. It is really good, and there s youth program which is 6th grade-12th grade. But they go to a different place then the adults and the children. Then, they come back in a bus.

I would suggest you try a different one each week in the University District until you feel comfortable. You will be among University of Washington students... The Fremont Area is high on the Funky Scale.

if you are a liberal/progressive/open-minded person, I would say Bethany UCC, corner of Beacon Graham.

How can I get some Cheap Tickets to Stockton, CA? -

How can I get some cheap tickets to Stockton, CA from Los Angeles? I don t want to spend no more than $100. I want to leave the last weekend in January.

You can t. Stockton Municipal Airport is served by only one commercial airline, Las Vegas based Allegient Airlines. They do NOT offer direct flights to Stockton from Los Angeles, and do NOT offer flights from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. To make this trip by air you would have to fly to Las Vegas on a different airline then transfer to Allegient from Las Vegas to Stockton. It won t be cheap.Consider making this trip by train on the Amtrak San Joaquin , or by bus on Greyhound

Go to southalltravel.co.uk and kayak.com to find cheap tickets.
