Things to do or see alone on a weeknight in nyc? -

I will be visiting NYC for a day to visit Columbia and NYU law schools. I will be staying in midtown near central park (west). I have been to nyc before but not since I was a teenager. What places can I go to between 6-11 pm safely (while being a female in my 20s, alone).I would be interested in shopping/areas around the 2 universities I mentioned.I am not interested in clubbing but more low key activities. Any nice areas just to wander? That are safe?

Go to visit some museums. There are so many, that listing directions to all of them would be a waste of your time and my time, so instead, I will give you a list where there is a list of all the museums of New York City. You can pick some that sound interesting, and then you can find directions to that place, either from the website, or from Google, simply by typing in directions to and insert the museum you would like to go to beside it. Since it is around Christmas time, definitely stop by Rockefeller Center around night time when the lights are up. There are many shopping areas around there, although they are a little on the high end. Of course, wander around Times Square, Chinatown and Union Square. You ll find various shops all over.Have fun in NY!

How do I get from Phoenix AZ, to Great Bend KS? -

I m wondering how to travel to Great Bend, Kansas from Phoenix, Arizona. Can I take a plane there or does a train pass through or a bus? How much would it cost?

This place is in the sticks. I did my best for you though. Without driving yourself the best way to get you close is to take a Greyhound bus to Salina and then either rent a car or have someone pick you up. Salina is about 2 hours away (96 miles) from Great Bend. If you book on line the Greyhound ticket price one-way is $175.95 and will take about 34 hours. They do have a scheduled stop at a Burger King in Gallup, NM.The only thing close if you go by train is Dodge City, but you have to catch that out of Flagstaff and you will still be the same distance from Great Bend as the bus was. The price is $160. but the travel time is only 17 hours. You can check the airlines, but it will cost for a rental car because the closest larger airports are 3-4 hours away. Each site asked for a travel date so I plugged in Dec.18, 2009.Checkout the sites.http://www.greyhound.com/home/ticketcenthttp://tickets.amtrak.com/itd/amtrakGood luck with your travels.
