What type of clothing should I pack to my trip to Seattle in January? -

I am female and from Australia. I do not know what a true winter is and I have never been overseas before. I am going on an exchange program to seattle and I will be going to school there for a couple of days (I m 15) as well as going on some tours. I want to look fashionable but also stay warm- I m not sure what to do? The trip is in January so I m guessing that would be the middle of your winter...... I also want to pack kind of light in case I might buy things over there and need room in my luggage.Thank you!

Fashion in Seattle is pretty weird some people are really trendy but it s pretty diverse, you can easily get by with sweatpants and a sweat shirt. If you wear a hoodie jacket, skinny jeans and rubber boots like these: http://www.target.com/Merona-Zabrina-DotYou ll fit in just fine and stay warm enough and your feet will stay dry (Plus you can get some really fun patterns with those boots) You may want a water proof jacket but usually a sweatshirt or just plain jacket works good enoughIf your only staying a few days you could actually just get by with this outfit and maybe another so youll be packing extra light.Have lots of fun! Be prepared for gray skies and rain, I forgot to mention if your going to the mountains pack an extra warm jacket! There will be snow! The rubber boots would work okay if you can layer on a couple pairs of socks and wear a big thick hat!

From what I understand, winter in New Zealand is quite comparable to winter in Seattle, London would be another similar climate. Seattle winters are usually quite mild 40 to 50 Fahrenheit, or so (5 to 10 C.) It can however dip as low as 10 F (-10C,) or potentially hit 60 (15C.) Likewise, it could be rainy, snowy, or just plain cold. It also depends on how far out of town you ll be traveling. It can be decent in Seattle, but cold in the hills and mountains.

I live in Washington (and I visit Seattle about every other weekend). I d say you should bring some warm clothes and jackets, and definitely have something for the ridiculous rain we have here. Just 2 days it snowed where I live (and in Seattle). Seattle is never too horrible, but you definitely want some warm clothes considering the season and that you re right by the water.

Warm clothes....something to walk in puddles because it s gonna be raining. :)Don t worry too much about that, most people in Seattle wear Northface jackets and boots, that kind of stuff. Also some peacoats etc if you want to look a bit more trendy. But mainly The Northface, i don t know, but Washington people have a thing for that.

You will undoubtedly be flying into Sea Tac International Airport. I would arrive wearing a sweater with a light waterproof jacket. Since it sometimes doesn t snow for a whole year, the chances of snowing while you are here are doubtful. However, if you wish the experience of playing in the white stuff or skiing, snow is an hour away to the East.Since you want to buy some clothes, take the rail transit at the Airport into Dowtown Seattle. (About 15 miles = 30 minutes.) Shop downtown....or, take a cab two miles from the airport to Westfield Southcenter to shop.Us natives would gladly help more if we had a better idea of what points you wish to see and where you will be staying.Enjoy!

Christmas eve dinner at Disneyland ? -

My fiance and I will be at Disneyland park over Christmas week, and I m looking for a restaurant to stay at for dinner. The Napa Rose is all booked for the Holiday, and we ve eaten at the Blue Bayou. (That ll be our backup probably.) Any suggestions? Thanks!

Back when we first got our annual passes, we decided to eat at every restaurant in the resort. If Napa Rose is booked (you should have called on October 24), then the Blue Bayou is a good second choice. But there are some EXCELLENT restaurants in the Downtown Disney area. We love going to Naples. The wood fired pizza is excellent. Other great choices include Catal or Jazz Kitchen for fine dining, and Tortilla Jo s, Rainforest Cafe, or House of Blues for casual dining. We also like the menu at Storyteller Cafe in the Grand Californian, but we usually just go for the buffet.Have fun!PS. If you really want Napa Rose, keep calling the dine line to see if someone canceled. It happens.

I always eat at the Blue Bayou. My trick is to eat about 330 pm. By the time you get done, its after 430 .. and the dinner crowd is starting to get thick then. Youre done !

Perhaps the Storytellers Cafe in the Grand Californian. I went there for breakfast and it was really nice. Packed with people, but a very nice atmosphere.

Looking for something to do in New York City? -

So I m a freshman in college going to school in Manhattan and am planning on bringing three girls from home up for the first weekend in December. I m looking for ideas for something to do that Saturday night. Also none of us are 21+ and we re all working on a college students budget so inexpensive would be good.

May I recommend the following.-Empire State Building-Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island-Times Square (no trip is complete without a visit to the Crossroads of the World )-United Nations-Central Park-Brooklyn Bridge (you can walk across it too)-Grand Central Terminal (largest railroad terminal in the world)-A Ride on the Staten Island Ferry (its free and you can see the Statue of Liberty as the ferry crosses the harbor)-The Pond at Bryant Park, which is free. However, the price to rent a pair of skates will cost you $12 a person.Good luck

Native New Yorker gives excellent suggestions! We maintain a New York Events Calendar on our site with listings for events like concerts, theater, fairs and festivals, etc.Have fun!
