Wheres a cheap place to camp in California? -

I m looking for someplace cheap to camp in California (preferably southern California, but anywhere really). Hiking isn t too big a problem, but I m not looking for a backpacking adventure. Anyone have any suggestions?

You can t get cheaper than free so try either a national forest or Mojave National Preserve.http://www.nps.gov/moja/planyourvisit/ca

Backyard, garage, bathtub, closet, homeless shelter, cemetery.Edit: X the cemetery, that one isn t so cheap if the cops find you.

The sidewalk. Card board box. Sleeping bag. Yoga mat.

Anaheim Vacation- what to do, where to shop/eat? -

We re planning to go to Anaheim this Christmas with the family (kids 13 and 18) What are some great shopping areas (malls) preferably offering good deals? Are there any nearby beaches? Also, I was looking up tours of LA offered from Anaheim ( as I thought it would be better than driving through the traffic personally) what agencies or tours are well known? In Anaheim, what are some affordable places to eat at? ( I wouldn t mind chain restaurants or even local restaurants) as long as their good and preferably offer a good selection of vegetarian items.

There are literally hundreds of things to do here in LA. Here is my list of must sees. Visit as many as you have time for.:Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth. Half a billion visitors cant be wrong. #1 Destination. Universal Studios: A theme park that grew out of a studio tour. #2 Destination.Even if you dont visit Disneyland or Universal Studios Tour, Downtown Disney District and Universal City Walk are very fun places to visit for shopping and eating. And theyre free to visit. Hollywood: Enjoy the Walk of Fame, Entertainment Museum, Chinese Theatre and more. You can see a lot for free. The Hollywood Highland complex has lots of shops and restaurants, and the Kodak Theater. The El Capitan theater, right across the street, is where Disney shows their movies. And the Hollywood Bowl is a GREAT place to listen to concerts outdoors. Olvera Street/Union Station: Olvera Street is the birthplace of LA, and it emphasizes our Mexican heritage. In addition to the Avila Adobe (oldest building in LA), you can eat at some pretty good Mexican Restaurants, do a little shopping, and taste a churro. If you dont want to go to Tijuana, this is as close as it gets without going there. Union Station has great architecture from a bygone age. Also, you are 2 blocks from Phillippes (see below).Rodeo Drive, 90210: Packed with exclusive shops, full of gawkers. They all came to enjoy the excess. Free, unless you intend to buy something.Venice Beach: Los Angeles kitsch and over-the-top culture at its best. Here you ll find Muscle Beach, street performers and tacky shops galore. Fun, VERY interesting, but I avoid it after dark, when it gets a little TOO interesting for my taste. Santa Monica: Beach and Pier: Great beach scene and a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that has been in a lot of TV and movies. After visiting the pier, you can ride a bike south a couple miles to Venice Beach. Newport/Huntington: Since you re in Anaheim, the closest beaches would be Newport and Huntington. Both are excellent. Just take I-5 south to the 55 south, and follow Newport Blvd south to PCH. Turn right at PCH, and you can go to Huntington. Newport is right there. In Anaheim, the restaurants in Downtown Disney District are very good. There s also a Claim Jumper nearby in Buena Park or one in Brea. Email me or IM me if you need any more infoSunset Boulevard began as a route between the stars posh neighborhoods and the Hollywood studios. It runs from downtown to the ocean, passing through the Sunset Strip on its way.Farmers Market and The Grove - A new shopping complex right next to a Los Angeles landmark, It is right next to CBS, so walk across the lot to see if they are taping The Price is Right . You might even get in.Griffith Park - Home of the Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory, Travel Town, the Greek Theatre, and Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage.Getty Museum - The Getty s architecture is so beautiful that it keeps me fascinated. No matter whether you like their art, architecture, or view better, the Getty is sure to please. Free.Attend a TV taping - You can get free tickets at audiencesunlimited.com, tvtix.com, or see the booth at Universal City walk. It s very interesting to see a show being taped. The most popular, by far, is the Tonight show. Check the NBC web site for all the details there.Places to eat:In-N-Out Burger: Multiple locations, best burger in LA, ask anyone.Pinks Hot Dogs: 709 N. La Brea, just north of Melrose. You might even see a celebrity. Maybe.Tommys Chili Burgers: Look for the shack, an LA tradition. The original location is at Beverly Rampart, a couple miles west of downtown.Canters Deli: 419 N. Fairfax, between Beverly Melrose. Near CBS, you might spot a celebrity.Phillippes: 1001 N. Alameda. Great roast beef sandwiches. Near Union Station and Olvera Street. Watch the mustard, its hot.Titos Tacos: Voted best tacos in LA, even though its in Culver City. The Pantry: Corner of Figueroa and 9th, downtown. Huge portions, they never close, GREAT steak and eggs.Places to Stay:In Anaheim, I recommend the Howard Johnson (HoJo) Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. Places to Shop:Third Street Promenade, Santa MonicaThe Grove, Los AngelesAmericana @ Brand, GlendaleBeverly Center, Los AngelesCitadel Outlets, CommerceBrea Mall, BreaThe Block at Orange, OrangeSouth Coast Plaza, Costa MesaFashion Island, Newport BeachSantee Alley, Los AngelesDeals come and go at the malls right now. The best places to get deals are at Santee Alley or the Citadel Outlets.Tours: http://www.starlinetours.com/anaheim-tou

Anaheim is really pretty small. Besides Disneyland, Downtown Disney, and the new Anaheim CityWalk there is not a lot to do. You are most likely going to want a car to talk you places in Orange County = Huntington Beach, Balboa Island, Long Beach, etc.Driving in LA is really not bad compared to other cities - much easier to get around then say Washington DC or Atlanta. Your hotel will have the best options for tours, if you decide you want to take it. If you end up getting a car, be sure to check out the Los Angeles Water Power Lights display in Griffiths Park. It s Cheesy. It s totally LA at Christmas time :-)I m mostly a vegetarian too. At DownTown Disney there are many options, in the quick service places. They aren t inexperience but they are good.In Costa Mesa, near South Coast Plaza shopping mall, there is a eco-mall called The Camp. It s not very big but it s a neat place. There is a vegetarian restaurant there called, Native Foods. All the non-Veggies I ve taken there have enjoyed it!! Across the street, is another little shopping area called The Lab. There is a veggie-centric restaurant there also.Have Fun!!

Use California permit in Pennsylvania? -

Hey, if someone gets a driver s permit in CA, and moves to PA, halfway through the permit term, can she still use the permit? In this case, the applicant would be 15 1/2 when applying in CA, but would be 4 months short of being 16 when arriving in PA. Would the applicant still be able to drive in PA?

Nope.Pennsylvania doesn t allow permit holders from other states to drive in Pennsylvania. Also no one under the age of 16 is permitted to drive in PA.

The other guy is right. 16 to drive.Period.

Package stuck in USPS ICS New York for 2 weeks - help!? -

Now I know it s the Holiday season, and they can t take any chances with imported goods, but this is rediculous. It arrived on the 19th, and it still hasn t been cleared or sent. How long does it usually take? Is there any way to actually get in contact with the USPS?

That can happen fairly often as far as I can tell. I once sent a USPS package to Europe, and its tracking info showed it leaving the US TWICE. It eventually got there after a couple of weeks in proper condition, but it got me to raise my eyebrows a bit. In short, this is probably normal, or at least not entirely unheard of.

Didn t understand from the question - did you send or are you expecting the package?Try to ask at your post office if there is any way to do anything. But to give you a little hope - my package left NYC on 13th and info didn t change after that for almost 2 weeks. Even when my parents received the package... So hopefully the package is on its way. They are just too busy to update the information. But during holiday season you should be very-y-y-y-y patient. good luck!

Is a weekend trip enough time to visit New York? -

I plan on buying plane tickets and a hotel stay for my boyfriend for Christmas. The trip would be on Valentine s Day weekend, departing on Friday the 12th and returning on Monday the 15th. Do you guys think that is enough for New York?? I have never been so I wouldn t know!

I guess Im different. I have been twice and still have not got to do everything. It was lots of fun. I found it amazing to see what man kind is able to produce(all the buildings and all). I was sitting on the plane, and a guy was next to me, he said he has lived there for 5 years and still hasnt done everything. I would love to go back. Statue of Liberty takes a while apprx (3-4hrs) depends how long the line is. Central park is huge. you can spend 2-3 hrs there pretty easy. Times square you can spend like alot of time there too. Just alot of neat stuff.

yes, it is plenty of time to see the main attractions, time square, Broadway, Museums, nightlife, restaurants, toys r us, fao schwartz, etc. Just plan it out, and you will be able to see the main attractions. Bundle up and enjoy!

Yeah I think if you want to see like Time Square and Broadway shows and all that. I think the best time is to go in the summer because there is so much to do and I think it s more fun in the summer.

I have had great one day visits to New York City, but I do have a little knowledge of it.Do some research here for things to do in the city that might interest you.http://newyork.timeout.com/Best of luck.

Yes, I think that would be enough to visit most of the city. But be careful it s going to be freezing. Good luck!

What day is exactly 180 days after november 26 2009? -

Who cares, why don t you figure it out?

New yorkers, which city would you consider living in San Francisco or Los Angeles? -

None. I have lived in NYC my entire life and this is my real hometown.I love New York a lot and I get homesick when I am out of NYC for more than a day.Besides, L.A. is a dump and I am not fond of San Fran.

Well, of the two, San Francisco is the more urban city, with buildings and streets very much like parts of New York City, while LA is more like New Jersey, being all suburban, with strip malls and highways and all, so, if I HAD to choose, I d definitely choose San Francisco by a mile!!

San Francisco is a great food town. Some of the best Chinese, Italian and seafood anywhere. Then there is the Farmer s Market by el Embarcadero. Check out the nut Vendors there.Plus SF is a better cultural city

When I was living/working in NYC, I had the chance to be transferred to LA and turned it down. Now, if it had been San Francisco, I d have been there in a NY minute !!

Well I prefer staying in the East Coast, but since the weather in L.A is better than the weather in S.F then I would go to L.A.

Los Angeles is my favorite place to visit.
