Is Connecticut really New England? -

I dont think Connecticut should be considered New England anymore. I live in Westport and it just doesnt feel like I live in New England or am a New Englander in any way.I dont commute to Boston, root for Boston sports teams (as you can tell by my screename. haha.), I dont tahk like this or enjoy chowdah every night for dinnah! Plus nobody around me does any of those things. So is Connecticut REALLY New England? It doesnt feel like it at all. I have friends upstate that say they re coming home to New England but I ve never said that or anything like that. I think we should be considered Mid-Atlantic if anything. Who agrees?

Connecticut isn t really a state. Half is part of NY, the other half is part of MA. (Hartford is sort of an anomaly.) Consider: 1. It has no national sports teams. 2. There are no real cities. Cities have downtowns where people want to visit and to live. (Bridgeport? New Haven? Get real. Hartford? Maybe.) 3. People don t go TO Connecticut for vacations, they go through it. 4. There aren t any real newspapers. People either get the Times or the Globe. And no one needs to say the city. (Hartford Courant, you say? Hasn t been real for years.) 5. It s the only NE state that has to put NE in front of chowder so people know which kind it is. 6. All the fun stuff to do is in another state.

Yes, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut are part of New England Colony. If you read this article, you will understand why it is called New England.

Yes, Connecticut is part of New England. However, parts of the state do have a New York City orientation What makes you think New Englanders are racist. Most of us aren t

sounds like a lot of hurt Mass people replying to this. Especially butt hurt Kman who obviously is a boston fan.

Yes, it s still New England, whether YOU think it feels like it or not. And who cares about your radio presets or how you talk?

yes, it is.not everyone is new england is racist. you generalize too much.

Western Connecticut is metro NYC, it s not really New England as far as we re concerned. The eastern half of the state identifies more with Boston. The Connecticut river seems to be the dividing line.I don t tahk like this - do you tawk like this ? The exaggerated tri-state accents are just as bad as the Boston ones, and most people in both places don t have them.Boston had some racial tension in the 50 s and the busing integration in the early 70 s caused a bit of a stir - but the assertion that it s now a racist city is absurd. Boston is a major technology hub, filled with international students, and home of the ultra-leftist PC politicians. It s orders of magnitude more diverse and tolerant than Connecticut - the home of white, yuppie, New York bankers who moved to the rich suburbs because they don t want to live near black people.

What is the best small town to live in, in the US? -

I am looking for a place to move with my family. Small town or rural. Low crime rate. Good weather (no tornadoes, no hurricanes, not too hot, not too cold or short winter). Reasonable cost of living. Safe place for children.

I m sure there are tons...one that I know about is Round Rock, Texas...Goggle it, you ll find many good things about it...there are lots of job opportunities, safety, reasonable prices, and alot of friendly people

the towns of Quitman, Alba, Emory, and Yantis, Texas. However, I don t know how you are going to avoid the chance of tornadoes anywhere. Check with your Witness Protection Agency Officer, and just go with his suggestion.

Woodbury Mnnesota...

Catalina Island

It depends on what you re looking for, but my favorite small towns are in New England!

Where is there good and affordable parking in or near downtown Philadelphia? -

for a visit..

Do not drive in or near downtown Philadelphia !!! Take a cab or subway. Do you know what a grid-lock is ?That when all sides of a city block gets stuck in rush hour traffic and can t move until a cop comes over to direct traffic. All it takes is something like the following: slow-moving senior s walking across the street, fire s/police shootings, people double-parked for some stupid reason, fight s between two cars over dumb stuff etc-etc.

No.. There are ample parking lots garages (most are secure, but expensive). On street parking is a RARE commodity, and almost all metered. Outside of center City, parking is at a premium even in many residential neighborhoods (if you get a chance, check out the double parking all through south Philadelphia ?excuse me - Sou Philly). Philadelphia has excellent and fairly safe mass transit. SEPTA does work (no matter what the critics say). Center city is a walking/public transportation destination.

further than nearer

How is the security at the Fox theater in Detroit? -

Is it tight?Like with standing and being in the aisles during concerts?

That is an excellent question - I hope someone answers this!

In my opinion, and from my experience with being at several concerts/performances there, the Fox theatre is not the type of venue that is conducive to being in the aisles (if you mean standing in the aisles during concerts)....as far as standing, at your seat, during a particular number, I don t think this is a problem. The Fox is not an arena venue but a smaller more subdued atmosphere. I have never been to any really crazy concerts there (so maybe it s different in those circumstances) but when I ve been there to see Sheryl Crow, Dido, etc., people have mostly stayed in their seats, or standing by their seats. As far as security, there is security there but I have never seen them be too aggressive; again, with the concerts I ve been at most people were respectful of the venue and the atmosphere.

It depends on what kind of performer it is..I went for a older artist and the security didn t care at all but then I went for the Jonas Brothers a few years ago and I kept getting in trouble for having a inch, literally a inch, of my foot in the isle.

I saw Godsmack there and everone stayed in front of their seats. Due to the atmosphere and how beautiful the Fox is, is it generally a tamer show.

How much is a taxicab ride from John Wayne Orange County airport (SNA) to Disneyland? -

Or, actually, to a hotel on Harbour Blvd near Disneyland.

It s 14.5 miles and about 21 minutes. According to the Yellow Cab Fare Calculator it will cost $52.85.http://www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?c

Probably about $60.There are Disneyland shuttle buses at the airport. Just take that.

the disneyland express resort buses will be cheaper (about $19.00)and most them will also stop at certain hotels by request

probably half as much as the cost for the plane fare

Camping places near dallas texas and fort worth area? -

im new to this dfw area and im looking for a place to go camping near here maybe a lake or a park or something if anyone can help me that would be cool.

We like to camp at Loyd Park on Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie. Take 360 South - - turn left at Ragland Road - - turn right at Park Road 1.The campgrounds at Loyd Park are well maintained and the park is a nice place to camp. With 221 sites there are a wide variety of sites to choose from. There are sites that are right on the shore of Joe Pool Lake, others that are away from the water, some in nicely shaded alcoves of vegetation, and a few sites that are relatively unshaded and out in the open. Sites are $15 per night, which is in addition to the per vehicle entry fee. Reservations can be made by calling the park at 817-467-2104. It s a good idea to make reservations during the busy summer season, especially on weekends. Camping reservations are required on holidays. Each site has water, electricity, a covered picnic table, and a concrete parking pad. Up to eight people and two vehicles are allowed at a campsite. There is also a limit of 2 tents or 1 camper and 1 tent per site. Fire rings are provided at many sites and bundles of firewood can be purchased at the park entrance. Check out time is 2 p.m. and quiet hours begin at 10 p.m. The restrooms have showers with hot waterThere are 8 cabins for rent in a public park on Joe Pool Lake in Loyd Park. The cabins are a great option for anyone who does not have an RV or a tent but does want to stay overnight at Joe Pool Lake. Loyd Park s cabins are found near the park s swimming beach, are relatively new, and have a lot of nice features. One cabin is ADA accessible and sleeps four people. The remaining cabins sleep 6 people. Four one bedroom cabins have a queen size bed, a bunk-bed niche and a pull out couch. Three cabins have two bedrooms. Prices range from $100 to $150 dollars a night, plus tax. The fee depends on what cabin is being rented and the date you want to stay. The entry fee for one vehicle is waived with each cabin rental. You can call 817-467-2104 to make a reservation or to ask questions you may have about staying in a cabin. All of the cabins have electricity, running water, central heat/air conditioning, a bathroom with shower, a stove, an oven, a refrigerator, a sink, satellite TV, kitchen utensils, a dinette, linens, and towels. There is also an outdoor barbeque grill, a fire ring (the park sells bundles of wood at the entry gate), and a covered picnic table.

I need to have my dog shipped by air from oklahoma to washington state. what companies do this? -

Try the airlines with direct flights between the cities.

I used to work for United Airlines and they did it. But I have to tell you that any animal that has to ride in the baggage compartment of an airplane gets very stressed out. I would see if Amtrak will do it.

Most airlines will do it and there are also pet transport services that do it. See list below.

UPS.
