Can visitors to the USA get a refund of taxes paid during vacations? -

Does anyone know if visitors to the USA can get a refund of the taxes they ve paid during their vacation - like reimbursement at the border as they leave the country or something? The UK and Australia have similar systems and I m wondering if the US do. I m planning to go for a 3-4 week holiday next year and am curious. I m not a US citizen (obviously).

Great question. Great idea.No once they get their hands on your money, you cant get it back.By next year they will have raised sales tax even more...as city states federal ..every one ! is low on money.Sales tax goes for upkeep of the state, and city .. parks-roads- police etc. Which you ll be using, so that would be their argument, Im sure. They have plans for all kinds of new taxes, too ! Its possible you ll have hotel tax too, if youre going to a tourist type area. Sigh.

No, if you buy anything here you need to pay the taxes on it. It s a sales tax, not a citizen tax.

Halloween in the USA...is it a good experience for a tourist? -

im planning on going to the USA in 2011 (i need time to save and i want to be 21) and i would love to be there on halloween.so basically would it be a good experience for me?and correct me if im wrong, but its in autumn?(fall)thank you

It s definitely an interesting experience. You ll see a bunch of people dressed up (men s costumes will run the gamut of weird, trendy, or classic, while women generally choose something slutty) drunk, and acting like loons. It should be a good time if you can make it. It s my favorite holiday. And yes, it is in the autumn. (October 31)

Halloween is celebrated in almost everywhere here in the states. Depending on where you go, different things will happen. A lot of women dress in slutty versions of outfits but people will dress up as anything! It s kind of silly but a lot of fun!

Yes! There are a lot of little kids and teens running around, and a few adults. It s really fun and you get a lot of free candy! Why not go?
