Can visitors to the USA get a refund of taxes paid during vacations? -

Does anyone know if visitors to the USA can get a refund of the taxes they ve paid during their vacation - like reimbursement at the border as they leave the country or something? The UK and Australia have similar systems and I m wondering if the US do. I m planning to go for a 3-4 week holiday next year and am curious. I m not a US citizen (obviously).

Great question. Great idea.No once they get their hands on your money, you cant get it back.By next year they will have raised sales tax even more...as city states federal ..every one ! is low on money.Sales tax goes for upkeep of the state, and city .. parks-roads- police etc. Which you ll be using, so that would be their argument, Im sure. They have plans for all kinds of new taxes, too ! Its possible you ll have hotel tax too, if youre going to a tourist type area. Sigh.

No, if you buy anything here you need to pay the taxes on it. It s a sales tax, not a citizen tax.
