Why do people come to detroit? -

One good reason is to visit friends and family.

Not all of Detroit is run down and crime ridden. There are many charming, historic districts throughout the city and nice restaurants. Also, nearby cities such as Ann Arbor also have charm and many things to do.

If your question was Why do people go anywhere but Downtown Detroit, then it would make sense. Come to Downtown Detroit, great place, great Casinos, Good Food, and cops 24/7.

They don t. More people are moving out than in. I have no idea why someone would want to live in the city. Although there are some nice cities nearby (Ann Arbor and Novi).

To see the abandoned buildings , the crime and the good parts of Detroit

Drugs and casinos.

to get a stab wound in their chest and a bullet in their a**.

Atleast you people are not in denial like Chicagoans are!!

To see if the rumors are true.

Why was Hawaii important to the United States? -

Please answer with supporting details and examples, thank you (:

Over the last 113 or so years, the emphasis has changed for the US government. The land was stolen from the Kingdom of Hawaii, and although many US citizens do not know that fact, many local Hawaiians are still very emotional and upset about this. Around the turn of the 20th century (1900s), Hawaii was the center of the Pacific whaling commerce. Thousands of whales met there peril and eventually turned into oil for lamps, perfumes, and other products. Soon, large sugar cane and pineapple plantations were the big. As Hawaii grew, many wealthy US visitors came in great clipper ships to vacation on the famous, and beautiful Waikiki beach. Some made there homes here, and grew businesses. Recognizing the ideal location for trade with the East, Japan, China, Indonesia, and India, ports were built on the West shores. Along with that came the protection of the US Navy at Pearl Harbor, and Air Force at Hickam, as well as numerous Army and Marine bases. As the US was forced into WWII, it was very evident Hawaii was hugely significant as a forward out post, refueling station, medical facility (Trippler Army Hospital), and R R area for the troups. Maui was a huge stagging and training area as well. From WWII on ward, Hawaii, especially O ahu has been very significant as the trading capital of the Pacific, importing, financial, military, and great commerce between the Orient, and India/ Africa, and the USA. Millions and Billions of dollars are spent, or traded through Hawaii on daily basis.

Im going to New yourk for new years but i have to tell my parents something else i live in MI..? -

i was thinking of telling them im going to frakenmuth....any other ideas?

Speaking as a parent, I d advise you to not lie to your parents. You DO want them to trust you, don t you? You earn trust by being responsible, honest and trustworthy. And, remember that things have a way of getting back to your parents.... What happens if something goes wrong in your trip? You never know. And, if you re young enough [and immature enough] that you have to sneak around and lie, then you re probably not old enough to be going out-of-state with other adults, or, god forbid, other kids.Do you know how much of a madhouse Times Square is on New Year s Eve? Do you know your way around NYC? How are you going to get there and back?Just don t do it.

How old are you? If you are a minor and an adult is taking you then they can be charged with kidnapping if they don t have your parents permission.

Are we going to get snow in MD this year before Jan? -

We never get snow here on Christmas!

The average snow fall in Washington, DC since 1888 for the month of December (Yes 122 years) has been 2.9 inches.Sorry, but you probably will not see it. But if you really want to hope fore it, please remember that in 1962 we received 16.2 inches. It will probably be cold, but we will have some warmish days, do not know about Christmas yet). This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America. Please pick an answer as the best answer, even if it is not mine.

i live in potomac (montgomery county) and my friends and i are still able to wear flip flops and shorts to school, so i m going to say no to that question :) My family usually just goes skiing in aspen, CO every winter break so we actually have snow at christmas :P

I used to live in Maryland and man i miss the snow!!now i live in houston Texas and the last time it snowed here was in.. 94?right now its still in the 80 s.*sigh*it s so weird to have a hot christmas.

Haha...you may see some flurries but no accumulation. Forget about having a white Christmas.

Omg, I know. Lol. I live in Delaware, not far from you, I want more snow...lol. But I hope so.

No. This has been another mild early winter. Look for the snow to start in January.

Bob Ryan seems to think December 5th. Let s hope it is just flakes but not much accumulation.

We will get snow, I promise.

Are Minnesotans happy with their November weather? -

In Minnesota, the fine State of 10,000 Lakes, where winters can reach temperatures of -40 and you have to plug in your car or it won t start, a state with cold-blooded people and Swedes,HOW are Minnesotans coping with these temperatures in the mid 50s in November where you can still farm the land? Are the people of Minnesota happy with the weather they have been getting this November?

The only Minnesotans I know personally don t mind as they moved to NW Florida 20 years ago. They go back to visit Minnesota in July.
