Whats better on New Years...New Strip of Fremont? -

I am guessing New Year s but if people can provide some more detailed info about the two...that would help me alot to decide where I want to be on New Year s? I was told Fremont has the older crowd and Strip has the young partiers ? Is this true?

Those are two different ways of ringing in the New Year. The strip is an open party where anything goes. Fremont street is an open air concert on three different stages. Admission is free to NV residents but non-residents pay $20.If you are a non resident and don t mind paying, then go to Fremont street.

Since LV changed the way the fireworks go off on the strip, I would say go to fremont street. The strip is so packed you can t even move and for a large portion can t even see the fireworks.There s no truth to the notion that the old people go to fremont street and the young people do the strip. I was there last year on the strip and it was just crazy with all the people packed in like sardines. Paying a couple of hundred to do a casino s nye s party with open bar and free food is the way I m going, Won t have to deal with the crowds.

How do I get to white plains, NY from NY penn station? -

Try Metro North from Grand Central station. I m sure theres a White Plains stop on either the Hudson or Harlem line.

My bf is a marine that is being deployed then end of January. He is taking leave in a couple of weeks but then he will be back at cherry point for a month before he leaves for Iraq. I want to surprise him one weekend in January. I am coming from NY so i was thinking about taking Amtrak from Ny Penn Station but i wouldnt know what station to get off. Can anyone help me?

The closest Amtrak station to Cherry Point is Wilson, NC at 80 miles, then Rocky Mount at 88 miles, and Selma, NC at 90 miles. Greyhound goes to New Bern, which is 25 miles from Cherry Point. You might be able to do some combo of train and bus to New Bern (NYC to Richmond or Raleigh, for example.) Or try www.kayak.com for flights -- NYC to New Bern (EWN) looks amazingly cheap. (Around $200 RT, which is what Amtrak plus bus will cost, but faster.)

Any other solo travelers to NYC over Christmas? -

Have always been enamoured with the city and am excited to explore. Taking the trip solo to take it all in, but if there are other adventurers out there, it might be cool to meet up and grab a drink, etc.I m a 26y/o Asian, normal guy. Might be cool to meet new friends while on vacation. Also, I have a pretty full itinerary, but any suggestions for things to see/do/eat would be appreciated.

Can i get a visa to USA if i have a record for drug consumption.? -

It was a case of 0,5 grams of marijuana only. I was released and told to pass the medical exam and then if needed reablitation. There s a question in the US visa questionnaire: if i have ever been arrested. I have to answer yes cos i guess they have a great data and i cannot lie. So, might it be a reason for a visa refusal? what should i do in order to get the visa with this problem?
