Are you paranoid about visiting new york? -

For some reason i have always felt scared of visiting new york because one of these days its going to be destroyed. Am i paranoid for saying that? i mean its the social figure head of this country so many radical people want it gone. Perhaps i am paranoid.. Is there a medical word for this? like arachnophobia for spiders, etc etc. what if im right?

Don t be scared. I used to live in NY, I was in Manhattan on September 11th, and I still work in NY. I ve never met anyone who was paranoid about something bad happening, especially not 8 years after the fact. Security is great now. The police, FBI, and DHS all work vigilantly to keep us safe. It s the most populated city in the US - it wouldn t be that way if people were afraid of boogey men.

Actually NYC is safest big city in the nation, sleepless city with ever changing scenes. Many famous buildings, world class evens, museums, broadway music shows and stylish fashion and design. Many New Yorkers live in fast pace style, so they don t care others, you needn t paranoid at all.

If I have to be in San Jose by 6am, when should i leave from SF? -

I have to be in San Jose (McKee Rd exit) by 6am tomorrow and i live in San Francisco. How s the traffic going to be?

I don t know what part of SF your starting from so Id say be on Hwy 101 south bound no later than 5am. I ts about 40 miles and you ll start hitting the early San Jose commute about 5:30 - 5:45. give yourself some more time if weather is bad. You can also take HWY 280 south, It will take you about 60-75 min at freeway speeds and you ll need to go north on 101 when reach San Jose, but McKee is about a 1/2 mile north from the 280 / 101 interchange. Either way, you should make Mckee just ahead of the crunch.

A lot of that will depend on where you are leaving from in SF.Once you are on the 101-- I would allow an hour. Most of the traffic will get heavy after 7. Leaving at 5 at about 70mph should be a good bet barring any unforseen things like rain or accidents. the traffic coming from that direction isn t as bad as the northbound traffic.

Just take the bus!! trust me.If driving then need to leave home at 5:00 to be safe

you should leave an hour early.

Im planning on moving to CA and im considering burbank. im nervous about earthquakes any suggestions? -

Suggestions about moving or earthquakes? If the earthquake thing... don t worry about it... there are some but there aren t that many or really that bad... I have lived in SoCal all my life and have felt... MAYBE 4 ... it s really really exaggerated... and as for advice to moving to Burbank... I would really have to know the reason you are moving to suggest anything other than... MAKE SURE TO HAVE A CAR! And if it s for acting and you don t even have a job yet... don t do it...

Seriously, no one in California worries about earthquakes. I d be much more nervous to live in Florida or someplace in New England because those places have really severe weather that happens every year (hurricanes, snowstorms). Major earthquakes, the kind where buildings collapse and roads and bridges crumble to the ground, (probably the kind you re imagining) have only happened a few times in the past century. Small ones that hardly cause any damage and many people don t even feel happen more frequently, but still I ve lived in California my whole life (19 years:-) and can only remember three or four.Fear of earthquakes is really one of the silliest and most pointless reasons I ve ever heard for not wanting to live in California. It s a great state with lots of diversity and great weather. As everyone else here has already pointed out, your time would be much better spent finding a place you can afford than worrying about earthquakes.

Well, I wouldn t say that earthquakes are any more prevalent in Burbank than anywhere else in LA. If it makes you feel better I have lived here about 2 years and only experienced one that was a bit scary but not dangerous. I actually just wrote a blog about areas to live in LA for young people. You should check it out it might be helpful. Burbank its a cute area, I used to work there at Disney. Although its not a young/fun as some other areas. There is an Ikea there which is helpful! Whatever you decide, enjoy your move!link to guide: http://leadingladyla.blogspot.com/2009/12/tips-on-moving-to-los-angeles-location.html

lol, although we have quakes every single day in LA, the vast majority of them are way too small to even feel, and we have a sizable earthquake every 2 3 years, and a major one every 20 years or so. I would be worrying about getting carjacked, mugged, involved in a car accident, etc.BTW have you checked the rent prices in Burbank? it s one of the priciest places to live in!

Dude, Earthquakes happen. They aren t like Tornadoes or Hurriccanes where there is a ripe season for them. Hell, an earthquake could strike right as I type this. Besides, a 5.0 will toss your place up a bit, and probably break some stuff, but it isn t until in goes past 6.0 where you have to worry. I was 4 when the 1994 Northridge quake struck. That was almost 16 years ago. The Big One will strike one day, but until that day comes, sleep soundly. Earthquakes are just that mysterious thing we have. Like cowlicks and 99 cent stores.

You should be more nervous about paying the monthly rent or getting in an accident on the freeway. Those are real issues. The last major quake was in 1994. It s just something you deal with. If you can t handle that, stay home.

dont worry i have lived in CA for about 15 years ive only came across a few earthquakes and they werent really strong .

Nervous about Earthquakes? you can get killed in a car wreck going to the store for milk. If earthquakes bother you, three words come to mind : DON T MOVE HERE!!!!

Did you even check the monthly rent to live in Los Angeles? That should put you in a state of shock!

What would you like us to suggest? There s two options;a. stay where you are.b. earthquake proof your home.

How much money is it to be homeschooled in new york? -

Home schooling means your parent is teaching you instead of you going to school, so it s free.

What to wear to washington dc? -

I am going to washington dc with chorus. i dont know what to bring. should i bring pants or shorts, or both. I am going in december. whats your weather normally like then? should i wear flip flops, or sneakers? We are going to sing at the pentagon, how formal is it there? PLEASE HELP ME!

The temperature will be in the 30s or 40s, and windy. Forget about bringing shorts and flip-flops--it will be too cold for them. You ll want long pants and a heavy coat plus gloves. The teenage girls tend to wear Ugg boots, which are warm and pretty comfortable. As for what to wear while actually at the Pentagon, your chorus director should tell you what the outfit will be. In general, performances in Washington tend to be more formal, like wearing white shirts and dark pants.

Well the pentagon is usually very formal so nice clothes is a must, it does get quite cold in December but it doesn t tend to snow, so just bring what your comfortable in and also back-ups in case it does get cold.

The pentagon usually requires more formal dress. It s usually quite cold in december, but snow is rare... if you re going to be walking around the city, sightseeing, etc. then sneakers are a must.

Which is further, Carpinteria to LA or Ojai to LA? -

Which is further, Carpinteria to LA or Ojai to LA? And how long does it take to travel from these places to L.A by:1/ train?2/ car? Thanks.

Wow, it isn t often I get to correct the Jedi Master of Transit, TravelMaster. The distance from Ojai to LA is just about the same distance from Carpinteria to LA. From Ojai, you have to take highway 33 out of the mountains to Ventura, then you take 101 into LA. From Carpinteria, you just take 101. Carp is 84 miles, Ojai is 83 miles. So they re basically the same distance, but you can get to Carp faster because you don t have to do any mountain driving. It s about 90 minutes to Carp, about 105 minutes to Ojai by car.I m very surprised that TM doesn t know that the Amtrak train stops in Carpinteria, just steps from the beach and the campground there. We ve used the train quite a few times to get family members up there. Trip time is about 2.5 hours from LA (due to the stops at the stations, and the fact that you go via Chatsworth and Simi Valley). There s no train service to Ojai, you have to take a Ventura bus from the Ventura train station.

well no train service ojai (you would have to board at ventura)_same with carpinerta (no train stops there again having to board at either ventura or santa barbaraby car since capintera is closer to Santa Barbara and Ojai is closer to venturathat means Capinterria would be further from Los Angeleshow long by train maybe 90 minsby car maybe a hour (depending on traifffic of course)

ojai is definetly farther by car because of the little bitty lame roads you have to take to get there.
