What are some fun, inexpensive things to do in New York City? -

I am going to go to New York City next month to see the big Christmas tree and we just want to go. It s going to be my mom, my brother, my mom s friend, and me. I want to go to M M s World again. What are some other fun things to do?thanks.

there s Macy s if you want to go shopping, and many other stores, You can go ice skating, see the Empire State Building, If you don t mind taking a walk (not even that long) then walk to 42nd street times square, there s ESPN zOne there, the Wax Museum, Toys R us, There s a record store also. Ripley s Believe It Or Not, Restaurants, movie theaters, gift stores, and so much more, you will see while you re there and you can choose what you guys like.

There are a ton of cool things to do. These are not in any specific order and I am not listing them best to worst or worst to best. It is simply a list of fun things to do. And I don t know if you live near the city and you are just going there for the day of if you are going there and staying in a hotel. These are just things you should consider.1) Madame Tussauds2) The Museum of Natural History3) Empire State Building4) Metropolitan Museum of Art (I have never been there but everyone I know who has says its cool)5) Museum of Modern Art (I have never been there but everyone I know who has says its cool)6) Guggenheim Museum7) Times Square8) Brooklyn Bridge (Take the subway into Brooklyn and walk into Manhattan that is the best way to do it)9) South Street Seaport10) Empire State Building11) United Nations Building (I think there is a tour and it might be interesting to see you should look into it)12) Central ParkDon t go to the Statue of Liberty it is a complete waste of time.

Brittany,Take a look at our New York Events Calendar. It s full of things to do in New York. We maintain listings of all kinds of fun and interesting events going on in the New York area. You can sort it by category and by date. New events are being added all the time so make sure you check back before your trip.

one favorite thing for me is bartering liquor from the bums! Like, I get sandwich from Vito s, bring it to a bum in exchange for whatever alcohol they have in their hands. Just trying to do my part in keeping them off the hooch. Just don t, I know it s tempting, to drink the newly acquired hooch. You don t know where their mouth has been!!Ever notice you never see a bum drinking Gatorade? Just an observation.Rockefeller Plaza, Times Square, Central Park...all are interesting things to see. Try to ice skate at Rockefeller Plaza, you will love the experience!

Here are a couple of articles for you including how to use our transportation system, a complete run-down of Christmas in New York ideas and the days when museums are least expensive:http://www.associatedcontent.com/articlehttp://www.associatedcontent.com/articlehttp://www.associatedcontent.com/article

Central Park is free and beautiful. Walking the Brooklyn Bridge from Brooklyn to Manhattan is free. Hanging out in Washington Square Park is free and makes for great people watching. Eating in an all night diner is cheap. Get thee out of Times Square and discover the REAL New York. Just being there is priceless!

walk around midtown in the early evening and look for paparazzi standing outside the ritz or the waldorf, or some of the top restaurants. chances are there s a celebrity in there if you see a paparazzi.

The links below can help u. Good luck!

Do some research here for your Momhttp://newyork.timeout.com/and some here for your brother and you.http://newyorkkids.timeout.com/Best of luck.

Umm i forget is the tree by the water? Well if it is you should go see the water. or you could go ice skating or to central park:)

How expensive is florida compared to california? -

cali is pretty expensive. I lived there. Is florida a bit less pricey. I d like to move to miami but im guessing cost of living is a bit high unless i want a crime infested area? Where is a good place to live(preferably coastal) for a younger person(early 20 s) You know, a party scene, maybe some concerts and fun outdoor activities. Also, where is a good place to find jobs(city)? And where might be a good place to work(company etc.)? Any tips for a newcomer would be much appreciated. P.S. Im kinda doing this on a whim so Im not bringing much money with me at all. 3 g s maybe. So for a cheapa** like I, what would be some good suggestions? Thanks for any reasonable efforts!

To clarify: One mistake people make is thinking that Florida is like the state of New York in that most of it is the same, having to do with the way it looks, the way the people are, act, etc, and the way of life. Every place in Florida is the same except for Miami and the county Miami is in, Miami-Dade County. Miami-Dade County is 100% completely different than every place in Florida in every single way, from the people to the way of life to the the nightlife to everything. Also to clarify: West Palm Beach does not have almost the same beachy atmosphere as any place in California and West Palm Beach is suburbs only not as suburbs as the rest of the county it s in. Vero Beach is even more suburbs. They just like every place in Florida for the excemptions of certain parts of Orlando and Tampa, are great places to live if you want nothing city (I mean city like big cities NYC, etc.), slow, quiet, slow paced, no mass transit (but that falls under city things), boring, nothing going on, no arts, no shows, no nightlife, the most outside activity is walking youe dog or jogging, everything is over with early, and everything that is not city. Even what that woman said proves that even she knows this as she said she lives in one city, goes to work in another, and has doctors in others, who wants that? Having to drive miles and miles just for anything. In cities like Miami and NYC everything is right around the corner, you can take a less than 5 minute walk to get to everything. So yes, it s true what that girl said about you being bored to death, BUT no Ft. Lauderdale and Las Olas are not fun, well they re fun for old people and I mean seniors and suburb people that just go to restaurants for fun and suburbs gay males (the Broward/Ft. Lauderdale area is number one for gay males, I m not homophobic I m just pointing it out in case you didn t know, and there s nothing hectic(city life) about it, and it does not have a lot of clubs or bar scenes, compared to the rest of Broward it does, but in general it doesn t and compared to Miami or any place in Miami-Dade County even less. And it doesn t have any high rises and I mean real high rises as in city high rises, it just has beach residences that are condo like. And Broward/Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Beach/West Palm Beach are extremely expensive compared to Miami/Miami-Dade County. AND to finish off with this, that spanish comment has got to be the most ignorant and incorrect statement I ve heard in a while. You do not need to know spanish to live in Miami. Pitiful that someone would put that. Most the latinos that live in Miami and Miami-Dade County speak perfect english, and most importantly the latinos you will interact with in any way or form speak perfect english, you don t have anything to worry about. Now that that s cleared I can answer your question completely. Cost of living in Miami and Miami-Dade County is not high in non crime infested areas, it just all depends where and what you want to live in, like what city and in a house or condo, etc. We have really inexpensive beautiful places to live, in nice and no crime areas, as well as expensive beautiful no crime areas. Like I said it really just matter what you want and you just pick and choose after that. You can choose to live in the city (Miami) or if you don t want city or like city, you can live just outside Miami in any of the suburbs or what ever it is you like and want, and whenever you want go to the city, enjoy the city, etc etc, you can just walk there which is really close (everything in Miami is really close less than 10 minutes walking) or take any of the mass transit, cab, train, bus, etc (some are even free like the metromover) or if you want to drive yourself you can do that as well. Before I moved to Miami I thought it was expensive as well and I thought Miami Beach was expensive too, but that s not the case at all. I was amazed how cheap places in Miami Beach are, and they re right next to the beach, it was unbelievable. Miami, Miami Beach and other cities in Miami-Dade County are made for young people, nighlife, concerts, shows, arts , outside activity, etc etc (but of course there s also areas for the non young and for the people that just want to live a quiet life). For jobs, well there s always an unlimit amount of jobs available in the restaurant business in Miami and Miami-Dade County, as you can already imagine. I seriously mean always from normal just get something to eat to celebrity status (which you do see a lot of celebrities on a daily basis), there s so much that Miami has and that happens in Miami that there is every type of jobs and there s always jobs available. Honestly I would recommend just walking around and you re going to see jobs available on every block, or of course you can pick up a copy of The Miami Herald, or even a little googling around. I would go into more detail but I m a little tired right now lol. But I have never had any problem with jobs here in Miami, and

I lived in West Palm Beach, FL. It s a lot cheaper than California, and has almost the same beachy atmosphere (if that s what you like). The nearby suburb of Vero Beach, FL would be a great place to live!

Don t listen to the guy below me...If you want to be bored to death, live in West Palm or Vero Beach.lol(though they are great places if you like a very low key, relaxing area)My friends in California pay over 1500 for a 1 bedroom apartment, but I pay 900...so I think Florida is a bit cheaper. If you want to save money, I d recommend living in North Miami Beach(it s a little cheaper, but still by the water and pretty)..Also, Ft.Lauderdale and Las Olas are really fun too, and a little less hectic than Miami. If you don t speak spanish, I d recommend Ft.Lauderdale over Miami. Good luck!

I have lived in San Diego. I currently live in Palm Beach County, FL. I mention the county because I live in one city, work in another, and have doctors on others...all in the same county.I will eventually move back to CA even though it is more expensive. FT Lauderdale has a lot of clubs and bar scenes. There are plenty of beach residences and high-rises. Delray is mored geared towards the 30s and older age range. Wesp Palm Beach has some clubs but its surrounding entertainment is more geared towards families or older crowd- 30-40s and up.My suggestion is if you live near a college you know you will get to be around your age group. There are places in Miami that you can live at that are not in crime infested areas.Would you consider a room mate? That can obviously cut down your expenses and it might be safer for you. Again, stick to people your age who are in school or can prove they have been in the same job for at least 2yrs- they are more likely to be more responsible and dependable. Perhaps a family that has a guest house for rent? Maybe a separate garage? I am not talking in a bad neighborhood- I am talking in a nice neighborhood. Florida is cheaper but the scenery (besides the beach) is not as beautiful as CA
