We get more questions from people in the U.K. wanting to immigrate to the United States than from ALL other countries in the world combined. What is wrong with living in England that makes so many of you want to leave? Just curious. To legally immigrate here you will have to get permission from the nearest U.S. Embassy. Brits cannot take part in the Green Card lottery. To qualify you MUST either prove that you have sufficient money available to support yourself, or have a relative living here that will sponsor you. We are a compassionate country, but we do not admit people who will become burdens on the American taxpayers. There are a couple other obscure ways like having the funds to start a business in the U.S that will employ at least 5 Americans, etc.To legally work here you will need a work visa, and those are nearly impossible to get. An American company MUST sponsor you because you have a job skill that is in demand in the U.S., and with the U.S. in a recession (and 1 in 9 Americans out of work) the ONLY careers to qualify are in Advanced Medicine, Engineering, and Advanced Computer Sciences. Ordinary trades people will not even be considered. If you do find a way to qualify to immigrate your name goes on a waiting list, and it can take up to 5 years to process your request. Good luck.

Start researching more because moving to another country can be shocking. Even the things you read may be different when you actually come. Find a particular area you want to move to because US states are almost like different countries of their own! Also, learn the US s money/cash system so when you come over shopping won t be a hassle. This website may sound difficult(or atleast to me it is) but it explains the Visa system since you ll need one moving abroad. --

I m sure a lot of people do exactly what you want to do. You might want to look for something like expat brits , or expats in the US or some variation on that, to find web sites that have information from former UK residents now living in the US (or various other places). On of the very first issues to address is a visa.In order to work here and earn money - legally - you must have a suitable visa. In order to become a legal resident also requires a visa (might be the same one - I don t know). Unfortunately, those visas may take years to acquire unless you have a special skill that is in demand. There may be much more specific information on the expat sites about the best way to go about getting that visa. The official US site for immigration is:http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscisCheck it out.Persistence will be the key to making your goal come true.

Is $2,500 enough to go on vacation for a week to Washington D.C and NYC? -

My partner and I are going on vacation with our two young girls for about a week 3 days in D.C and 3 days in NYC. Is 2,500 enough for food, hotel, car and gas?

I m not so sure. It depends on where you plan to stay. The major hotels in New York are approximately $300 and not cheap in D.C. However, if you do your research ahead of time, you might be able to bring those figures down significantly, esp. if you are flexible about where you re going to stay. Check out Hotels.com, Priceline, etc. Don t forget to add in all of the hotel taxes that will be lumped on top of the rate. And don t forget to add in the parking, too.As for the rest, it all depends on what you plan to do in those cities. You can do a lot in both cities and not spend a lot of money, but if you want to do theater and things such as that, the price can jack up quickly.Do you research and if you have Triple A, be sure to see what discounts it can get you. It might be do-able, but it could really add up fast.Have a great trip.

When going to DC it is less expensive to stay the night outside of town, though that is not inexpensive. Also it can be hard to get a room for 3 days around DC at the same hotel especially during the week days, due to so many people coming in from out of town to work, they fill up a lot of rooms quickly and make it hard to find rooms for more than 1 night. So call ahead. If you stayed in Woodbridge, VA you would save about 30% on hotel rooms vs. staying in downtown DC. and it is about an hours drive into DC from there, anything between DC and Baltimore is very expensive as well. Plan ahead and make reservations especially in DC. While in DC try to be in your room or out of town by 9 pm it can get pretty dangerous at night. The DC cops are good but the criminals are good at not getting caught too.

Can 17 year olds rent hotel rooms? -

me and my friend want to spend a week down in grand haven, and we re just going to drive there, but we dont want to have to stay in some crappy motel. so, can 17 year olds rent a room? or could like our moms rent the room, and say its okay that there not their and stuff with us?and no were not going to do anything naughty, and thats not why im asking about this. we just want to go on a little road trip and are wondering if you can or not.

The best thing to do is call the motel or hotel in advance, to ask what the rules are on that. As far as I know you have to be 18 or older. However your parents may be able to rent it for you.

Hotels generally refuse to rent rooms to underage people to stay without a parent/guardian.

Whats a good place to go on vacation in Arkansas ? -

Want to take a trip down south, I live in Ohio. I want to hit Tennessee but I have never been to Arkansas, always been intrigued by it for some weird reason.

Hot Springs

Renting a house or a condo would be a great idea, and there are a lot of choices for rentals in the Arkansas area. It s best to do your homework and use online research to find available places to stay that fit within your budget.Rather than give you a specific property name and location, I would suggest that you do some research on the available houses/condos, the prices and the locations. I have used justvr.com in the past and it was quite helpful for narrowing down my choices and booking a few nights stay.

New Years Eve is a big money time for all of South Lake Tahoe. Most places will charge a premium for a room and have at least a 2 night minimum.I have been going there since the mid 80 s. It has been that way since before then.If you are just starting to look for a room now, good luck.
