Alabama.............................? -

Ever been? What s it like

I live here. It s ...........spacious

I ve visited Alabama on vacation and I enjoyed my trip. I visited the Birmingham area. There are many great attractions in Birmingham, including the Birmingham Zoo, Civil Rights Institute, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, and Vulcan Park (has the best view of the city). I went in the springtime, which was a good time to visit. Weather was perfect. It gets very hot and humid there in the summer. The people were very nice. They have plenty of southern hospitality.

yes. it was brown at the time.

How can i work in NYC? -

i would really like to move to New York city in the near future, but iam unknown how i can do this. i might start a career in nursing but would there be opportunities for British people to work there? also could i be able to maybe volunteer at a medical centre first?

Do you have a degree from the UK. I ll be honest without a university degree already it will be difficult. It will be difficult anyway because of educational inflation in the US (practically everyone has a bachelors degree). If you do have a degree, even in nursing, you have to make sure that you can still get certified to work here as a nurse. Not to mention you will need several thousands dollars saved up for a deposit and first months payment on an apartment. As far as your question are there opportunities for British people? . It s NYC, probably the most diverse city on the planet, there are opportunities for everyone no matter where you are from but it is very much a meritocracy, so be prepared.Hope this helped.

There s an opportunity for any kind of person to work in NYC, as long as you have the education and some kind of experience in it. Volunteering is a good way to start for sure, theyyy loveeee volunteersss here !

diverse there s that word againnursing school

New York to Chicago, which is the better airline: American Airlines, Delta or United? -

I m looking to book some flights and all of those carriers fly the route. I m hoping to find someone with specific experience with the NY-Chicago route. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely not Delta and not AA unless you want to fly in one of their crappy MD-80 s or similar, so I d suggest taking United. They d probably have the best service on that route anyways since United is based out of Chicago. They usually use the newer embraer planes that are very comfortable.AA and Delta are only good for international long-haul travel. United is fairly good with their domestic service.

United. I fly them everywhere. AA has those noisy MD 80 s which are so antiquated you wonder if you will make it to your destination in one piece. United, I believe has the most nonstop flights from Chicago to anywhere in the world.

I travel UNITED bi-weekly from Laguardia Airport in Queens NYC to O hare in Chicago. United is ok. Sometimes there are delays but nothing over 45 minutes. I ve been doing this commute for the past year now without incident.

I like United best and then Delta. American makes their seats too narrow and therefore you spend the whole flight with someone in your lap.

Well, here s one thing - the L.A. city council backed a two-year ban on electronic billboards.--------------------------Council backs billboard ban; A state bill would give officials time to study the safety of the signs.Maeve Reston. Los Angeles Times. Los Angeles, Calif.: Feb 12, 2009. pg. B.5Abstract (Summary)Calling the bill a wolf in sheep s clothing, Alarcon said he was concerned there were no safeguards to prevent the state -- given its dire economic predicament -- from poaching money that the city might glean from digital billboard operators.A divided Los Angeles City Council threw its support Wednesday behind a proposed two-year moratorium on electronic billboards drafted by state lawmakers from the L.A. area. The council first passed its own ban on billboards in 2002 but has been struggling since then to enforce it. The proposed state ban would go into effect Jan. 1, a date that concerns some council members who fear that it could lead to an influx of new signs during the interim. The legislation s author, Assemblyman Mike Feuer (D-Los Angeles), has argued a two-year ban is necessary to study whether the signs are safe. There are several federal studies underway, including one by the Federal Highway Administration measuring eye movements of motorists when confronted by the signs.Four City Council members -- Richard Alarcon, Tony Cardenas, Bernard C. Parks and Ed Reyes -- said they could not support the bill because they were concerned a state moratorium would encroach on the city s control over billboard rules.Calling the bill a wolf in sheep s clothing, Alarcon said he was concerned there were no safeguards to prevent the state -- given its dire economic predicament -- from poaching money that the city might glean from digital billboard operators. Before the city put a temporary ban on billboard signs, officials collected a permit fee for each new billboard and inspection fees annually for each sign. Alarcon said that if the state seizes control, state officials could oversee the franchising of digital signs -- quashing potential opportunities for L.A. communities to negotiate directly with digital billboard companies for money to help their areas. This is just the first step in the state taking control of these signs and taking the opportunity to generate revenue away from us and putting it in the state coffers in the midst of the worst budget crisis in the state s history, Alarcon said.Feuer said he was surprised by Alarcon s comments and not certain what revenue the councilman was referring to.

What is a Decent area in Pennsylvania to Move to? -

Im coming from NY I want to move to PA. What is a good safe area with cheap rent and jobs and good schools? Thanks!

The Pittsburgh is an affordable area that has a lot of jobs these days, but the Philadelphia area offers most. Philadelphia has a lot of nice suburbs and exurb communities that you may like. I d suggest avoiding Erie, PA and anywhere in the central part of the state like Altoona or Allentown as the economy and general state of those cities is not too good.
