Is the job market and economy in Las Vegas improving or is it getting worse? -

I m hoping to land a job in one of the major Las Vegas strip resorts for hotel management or anywhere else in Vegas besides the strip hotels. Will the job market improve anytime soon?

14% unemployment and growing daily. State, county and cities are laying off and furloughing employees. Casinos have cut hours by at least 8 hours. Jobs in the gaming industry are limited and few. You don t get into hotel management without a degree like from UNLV Hotel Management. The expected job market improvement is at least two years ago according to UNLV.

It s getting worse and I don t see any recovery any time soon. In fact the Sahara just closed two of it s hotel towers for lack of occupancy. The 9,000 jobs created at City Center had more than 150,000 applicants. For the first time in a couple of decades, more people are leaving than coming in. The budget has another 50 million shortfall of revenue and the state will be forced to make more cuts in services. Our official unemployment rate is still over 13%, now the highest in the nation. A friend was let go after 17 years middle management with a strip hotel as her job was eliminated. I don t see any improvement for another 3-4 years as we have not hit bottom yet. After the 1st of the year, expect another round of layoffs across the entire spectrum of the jobs here.

Highly doubt it. Hotels are going to start closing towers, floors or wings to save money. When they do that they can lay off the employees. This is the next step as the hotels are loosing money here on a regular basis. Don t see it turning around for many years. When things start to pick up they will just open the closed rooms and call back the laid off workers. Might want to read the following web page.

How do I move back to Miami? -

I used to live there for 7 years then totally randomly, my mom decides to move to connecticut because she can t afford our apartment and her ex husband who she hates but he pays the bills live here. I ve been living here in fairfield,ct and i hate it. i hate the trees with no leaves, the gringos, the boredom, and the cold. And the mold on my walls. And miss my friends like crazy. Yeah ive told my mom all this but she doesn t care, she thinks ill get over it and that ill make new friends, but i know it s not gonna be the same EVER. If you didn t already know Miami is expensive, so we don t have the money to get a new place over there now. WHAT DO I DO?To be honest, i really doubt anyone is gonna answer this but let s give it a try :)

No, it won t ever be the exactly the same again. They re good memories. A big change like that is a hard pill to swallow, no matter the age. I ll bet your Mom doesn t want to appear weak to you, so she s not going to tell you that she hates it in CT just as much as you do. Parents are supposed to be that way. You can plan a trip back to Miami for a visit by doing some odd jobs, stash the cash, and check Amtrak for round-trip train prices to Miami. If that s not possible, just do what you can to hang with a few friends, keep the grades up in the school in CT, and then get easy admission to the various higher educational schools in South Florida area after you ve graduated from high school (of course, with honors). Do well in college and then you can live a prosperous life in Miami, and not worry about having someone cover for you. Things to look forward to. Little goals for you to reach. That s what life is supposed to be all about. Start with the odd jobs.

Move naer Miami like to Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach, etc. That way you stay somewhat close to the city but have affordable housing.

First of all, none of those places that person mentioned are close to Miami, some are at leasty an hour away and some are at least even more! Second, all those places are suburbs, boring, and everything that is not Miami. Third, the majority in those places are white, gringos lol. And fourth, those place aren t affordable, they are extremely expensive. I don t know why you say Miami is expensive, but it s really not, the first time I moved to in Miami only cost me $650 a month, and it was a beautiful big one bedroom/one bathroom, with parking spaces, etc. everything that is usually included in everything. It was less than 5 blocks from Midtown Miami, and that includes the Design District and everything else, and less than 10 blocks from Downtown Miami. The place I moved in after that, which is where I cuurently live is a 3 bedroom/2 and half bathroom, for only $750 a month and it was even more beautiful and larger. It was also very close to Midtown and Downtown. It all really depends on where and what you want to live in. Honestly, I recommend just doing a little googling around, but a smart googling around lol, and also go to craigslist, that is where I found my second home in Miami. Here s the direct linkhttp://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/apa/ It s really easy to move to Miami. Just do what I said and you will be here in no time. Hope to see you soon.
