Moving to Albuquerque, NM...? -
In this economy being offered that kind of money is amazing. New Mexico is a great state. It is a Right To Work State, but the scenery is wonderful. Especially north towards Taos or Santa Fe. I would do it. Look at www.realtor.com if you are looking for a home, or www.rent.com if you are looking for an apartment.
wow, I would be surprised if ABQ is more expensive than SAT....there are a lot of poor people there...of course NM has state income tax, which we don t have in TXYou are right....look at bestplaces.net....ABQ is 27% more expensive than SAT. Wow! (mostly due to housing)
Why is washingington D.C not in a state? and what does the district of columbia mean? -
When our country was founded, several states wanted to have the capital in their state. It was decided instead that the capital should be on -federal- land, land not belonging to any state. So some land was taken from Virginia and Maryland and the capital was built on this land.Originally there were no people actually living in this district, it was just govt. buildings. It s only recently that people in DC were allowed to vote in national elections! The District fo Columbia is named after Columbus. A lot of people think the New World should have been named Columbia rather than America, after Amerigo Vespucci, who was only a mapmaker. The South American nation of Colombia (notice different spelling) is also named after Columbus.
Back in the early days of the United States, the states had much more control than they do now. A riot broke out in Philadelphia against the members of the federal delegation. The federal delegation was powerless to force the Pennsylvania authorities for help and the federal delegation had to flee to nearby New Jersey. To prevent a similar situation, the federal government decided to be located in a city that it had control over. It created the federal Territory of Columbia which became the District of Columbia in 1871.Columbia (with a u) is a poetic term for America. The unofficial national anthem was Hail Columbia prior to The Star Spangled Banner . It has nothing to do with the South American country of Colombia (with an o), other than they both derive their names from Christopher Columbus.

What are the worst areas (Crime amp; Security) of each borough of New York City? -
to add on to lili s staten island. bad neighborhoods: mariners harbor, parkhill, stapleton, south beach projects, new brighton, west brighton. since alot of people dont know bout staten, they are tryin to get as bad as they could. so dont go through the neighborhood i listed or ull get sticked for wats on u.
manhattan:1. harlem (east and central): harlem has actually gotten a lot better, with some parts going through gentrification. however, it can still be a bit sketchy at night and there are still a good number of robberies, and gun shooting going on in some parts of harlem.2. washington heights: same as harlem, gotten a lot better but there can still be some negative activities going on.brooklyn:1. east new york2. brownsville3. bed-stuy4. crown heightsall these brooklyn neighborhoods are high in crime and still have a lot of gang activities. although some parts of bed-stuy is going through gentrification, it is still a questionable neighborhood. these neighborhoods are mostly consist of a high concentration of government public housing. brooklyn is a great borough but stay away from the east side of brooklyn, where these neighborhoods are located. bronx:bronx is the least desirable borough although the areas in north bronx are quite pleasant and prestigious. any neighborhood in south bronx is dangerous, high in crime and have gang activities. the neighborhoods in south bronx are residential but are very runned down and very sketchy during the night. queens:there is a section of Jamaica in queens that can be quiet shady, but nothing compare to south bronx and the aformentioned brooklyn neighborhoods.staten island:not too sure. staten island is the borough that is the least acknowledge and have the least association with nyc. staten island takes after the suburban lifestyle of new jersey or long island.
