Where is a good area to stay in Los Angeles so I can be central to everything? Beaches, Dizzyland ect...? -

Going to LA in a few weeks, want to be central to the tourist things, Farmers Market and the like.Where should I stay? Which area, maybe even a nice inexpensive villa (haha) or hotel. Thanks

Since LA is so spread out, there is no single place that is close to EVERYTHING. Most people who come here tend to stay in Hollywood, Santa Monica, or Anaheim. In Hollywood, I recommend the Orchid Suites, Hollywood Celebrity Hotel, or Holiday Inn Walk of Fame, all near Hollywood and Highland. Another one is the Best Western Sunset Plaza. In Santa Monica, the Holiday Inn Santa Monica is close to the pier and reasonably priced. In Anaheim, I recommend the Howard Johnson (HoJo) Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. There is also a nice place in Burbank called the Best Western Media Center, very close to Warner, NBC, and Universal Studios. We see this every day in this forum: Everyone who wants to visit here is looking for cheap/affordable and safe . However, such a place just doesnt exist; the two terms are mutually exclusive. It s all about supply and demand: If it s in SoCal, then it s not going to be cheap to begin with. If it s a safe area, then it s more expensive.

Renting a house or a condo would be a great idea, and there are a lot of choices for rentals in the Los Angeles area. It s best to do your homework and use online research to find available places to stay that fit within your budget.Rather than give you a specific property name and location, I would suggest that you do some research on the available houses/condos, the prices and the locations. I have used justvr.com in the past and it was quite helpful for narrowing down my choices and booking a few nights stay.

Should I use a car service or yellow cab to get from Penn Station to Bushwick in Brooklyn? -

I will be traveling to NYC from Philly in a week or so to visit friends who live in Bushwick in Brooklyn (a few blocks from J train Gates Ave. subway station). I will be arriving at 5 on a saturday evening, but it gets dark early now, I m going to have at least two bags, and I do not feel comfortable navigating the subway and then walking through an unfamiliar and not so great neighborhood alone. I ve only been to NYC a few times and always stayed in Manhattan.I ve heard horror stories about the city cab drivers refusing or getting pissed off when you say you re going to Brooklyn, especially an area like Bushwick. Also, I m concerned that the driver wouldn t know the exact location, and I wouldn t know how to tell him to get there. However, I m also wary of car services. They seem overpriced, and I don t want to be stranded somewhere for an hour. I also have NO IDEA which ones are reliable, fairly priced, and will actually take me to Bushwick. Please help! Do you think I will have problems getting a taxi to that part of Brooklyn? If so, can you recommend any reliable and safe car services that will take me there? Thanks!

At Penn there ll be a taxi stand, so you won t have to flag a cab on the street. When you go out from either of the main exits you ll see a line of people waiting and a line of cabs at the curb. Just take your place in line, and when it s your turn the attendant will point out which cab you should get into. He also should give you a slip of paper with the cab medallion number, which will also be on the TAXI sign on the roof and displayed in the cab itself. If it s not given to you, make a note of it.Once you re in the cab, just give your destination. While it does happen that in some locations in the city a cabbie might suddenly tell you that they re going out of service or give some other excuse if you ask for a destination he considers inconvenient, it won t happen under those circumstances, at a taxi stand line. Expect the fare to be close to $30, maybe more as traffic may be heavy. All yellow cabs in NYC now accept credit cards, so it s not necessary to have cash on hand to cover. Don t forget to tip.

Take at taxi, from Penn Station. Just make sure you have your friend address and a Google map from Penn Station to your final destination in Brooklyn so you can tell driver where you going. Also, make sure you have plenty of cash, because it might cost you a pretty penny.Good luck

I d say they re both pricey but I d take a taxi. I ve been to bushwick, my best friend lives there I d say you re gonna feel uncomfortable either way. It s wayyyyyyy different than Manhattan so don t expect to see some kind of similarity between the two. lol uhmm i m pretty sure, the taxi driver will know their way around there, so that shouldn t worry you. when have you heard of having difficulty of catching a cab in NEW YORK ? that s a first. lol they re all around. I suggest you take enough money for the taxi, they re rip-offs if you re not careful.hope you have fun hun 3

Taxi cabs cannot refuse a pickup because of location. If they do, you should take down their Taxi # and report them.Secondly, 5pm is not late, there are lots of people on the train. That s a 40min train ride which is not so bad. And Bushwick is not as bad as it used to be, lots of white kids there. I m sure you re visiting some :PYou are looking at $30 + tip as the other dude mentioned. And as mentioned before, get the google directions printed out just in case. Learn the route.

Im 17. And i want to take a flight by myself to Seattle from Detroit. How do i do this and what do i need? -

Im wanting to take a trip for 2 weeks to see my girlfriend who just moved. But most airlines require 18 to fly solo. Im 17 and I want to go by myseld. What do I need to do so and how to Obtain it.

Just order it through a travel agent or the airline ticket agent. Payment will be the issue, really, more than age. If you have a debit card you could use that, or your parents card if they will let you use theirs. Or you could get a money order and go to a travel agent personally. Most airlines consider someone 17 an adult anyway.Good luck

ALL airlines in the U.S. allow kids 15 and over to fly as adults. Of, course, your parents should approve and know where you are going, but you do not need anything special to fly. Also, kids under 18 do not need I.D. to fly.
