What are good places to visit if youre going on a cross country road trip? -

Yes, I ve googled it I know this has been asked before, but I m just trying to see if I can get some different answers and your personal opinions about what places are best. Thanks (:

Up and down the Rockies are a number of amazing national parks. Depending on where you cross, be sure to spend a few days at the closest two:* Glacier in NW Montana* Hells Canyon, E Oregon* Yellowstone, mostly in NW Wyoming* Zion, SW Utah* Bryce, S Utah* Grand Canyon, NW Arizona

U.S. 50 If you wish to see rual america, And a few bigger cities. From Annapolis, To Oakland Cal. One of the more scenic routs left. U.S. 6 Across the land if you like a more northern drive. And more timber and less desert Or 6 out and 50 back. Wonder full site seeing trip. If you have some months to travel. I have been across all of it. But never in one trip. Be live Reno to St.Louis was the longest trip at one time.

You can t go wrong with the National Parks. You can buy a year pass for about $80. Here s a link:http://www.nps.gov/index.htm

Yup, National Parks are the way to go.Check out http://www.roadtripjournal.com/ for a state-by-state guide to many of our nation s beautiful parks written first hand by road trippers like you!My personal favorite is San Elijo State Beach in CA (especially considering its 7 degrees where I am right now). http://www.roadtripjournal.com/californiWhen you visit the site be sure to enter in their monthly giveaway for a chance to win a $200 gas card to help finance your road trip!Happy trails!

Moving to Washington state? -

I live in Michigan, 20 minutes from Detroit. I ve always wanted to live on the west coast so I plan to move when I m done with college. I was thinking somewhere in Clallam County. It seems to be the best area since I m trying to stay close to the Olympic National Park. Any suggestions?

Well, I live in Spokane and just moved here 8 months ago. Contrary to what that poster said about people not being friendly to outsiders, I have found the people in general to be very warm and welcoming. I love Washington, but would love to live in a small mountain town. But work, or lack there of, would be an issue. I don t know about the work situation in Seattle area, but Spokane is hurting big time. Be that as it may, it is beautiful here. Cmon out!

I personally don t like that area simply because I ve lived in hubs in Washington my entire life - Seattle and Olympia, etc. To be fair, if you live near Olympia or Tacoma everything in Western Washington is only 2 or 3 hours away at most.

If technical jobs are in your interest, the North West is very good, especially in the Seattle area. There is Boeing, Google and Microsoft and countless others. The climate is also very good, it is not to hot in the summer and not to cold in the winter.

Oregon is better. Washington is not rea friendly to outsiders moving in, whereas Oregonians welcome outsiders. Washington has adopted California s views on to many things, including thinking they are the best state and outsiders should stay outside.

forks, washington. vampires, *****! :3

Gig Harbor WA. You will just love it and it is close enough to Seattle to commute to a job there.

oregon is better

i was thinking the same thing, wisconsin. I was trying to laugh a little.

I am going to Florida, Orlando in January, how likely is it for me to catch a scorpion in two weeks? -

I REALLY LOVE SCORPIONS, SO HOW COMMON ARE SCORPIONS THERE IN THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AND WHAT TYPES OF SCORPIONS LIVE THERE?

I had 2 in my house last year. You need to know where to look for them or you ll never find them. I had no idea scorpions even lived in Florida until I found the first one last January.

They aren t common. You are less likely to see one in nature than you are an alligator or black widow spider.. and I only saw one alligator in the wild in my five years of being there. And I used to clear out storage spaces which are a great place for creepy crawlies.

I ve never encountered a scorpion in Orlando. If they re there, they re probably not very active in January.

Very rare. I have lived here for 18 years and have only found 2.

Weather in orlando in december? -

i m going to orlando (disney) at the end of christmas and im wondering if the weather will be warm enough to swim i know the average is around 72 but any onw who lives in florida do they know if its usually warmer then that around christmas?

My wife and I went last year in early Dec. We had two days of highs in the 70 s then two nights it was below freezing and we needed our heavy coats and gloves. It is best to check the ten day weather forecast before you go and take lots of layers. Have a great time and here are some fun things to do at Disney at Christmas.

yes the average is around 72 but daytime highs can pretty much range from the low 60 s to the low 80 s. thats typically a dry period with mostly sunny skies all day long so even when its slightly chilly the sun makes it feel warm. all pools on disney property including hotels and water parks are heated to a nice 82 degrees so you can count on them being warm. most other area hotels heat their pools as well. definitely plan on bringing the bathing suit!i went from dec 27th to jan 2nd last year and it was in the high 70 s- low 80 s the entire time. the nigh time lows get down to about 51 so you will want to bring a light jacket for early mornings and later at night.

Go to weather.com and they give you a 10 day weather forecast which is pretty much how the weather is going to be the next month. It is usually around 75 and the water temp is in the mid 60s to early 70s.The water is great to swim in anytime of the year!

probably in the 60 s im going this week and the weather is supposed to be in the 70 s and all the way down to like the 4 s so a bit chillyer but still probably sunny and nice i mean its florida but its unexpected weather mostly

It s been hot until now. Today the high was 60. Tonight it is 46 and still dropping, tomorrows going to be the same.

Whats the Difference between st, blvd, ln, ave, etc. or is there any difference? -

In my city, and it s probably this way in a lot of citiesStreets and Courts run East - WestAvenues and Places run North-SouthBoulevard is a street that is landscaped and has trees.Quite often down the center of the street.I have nothing to base this on, but I think most avenues tend to be wider than streets.Thats not true in all cities tho.

There used to be differences, but they don t really exist anymore. In Manhattan, avenues are wider and run north-south while streets run east-west.In St. Petersburg, streets and avenues are the same width but avenues run east-west and streets run north-south.And in Washington, DC, streets run north-south and east-west while avenues run diaganolly. The original difference was avenues were wider than streets and boulevards were wider than avenues. Places were short streets. Lanes were originally small country roads.

There is no clearly defined difference; however the following generally applies: Lane or court are small, local, residential streets. Streets can be short or long, residential or commercial. Avenues are frequently longer and often wider than streets. (New York City-Manhattan streets go East- West whereas Avenues go North-South). Boulevards are usually wider than Avenues often have a tree-lined divider.

What are places to visit in east tennesse except smokies? -

I would be visiting there with friends during the labor day weekend.

The Chattanooga area of course is awash with Civil War history and has a very nice aquarium. Between Chattanooga and Knoxville there is Dayton, the home of the famous monkey trial and the Lost Sea in Sweetwater. The Knoxville area has the Womens Basketball Hall of Fame and to the north in Norris is the Museum of Appalachia. In Upper East Tennessee you will find the home of Andrew Johnson in Greeneville along with the home where Confederate General John H. Morgan was ambushed and killed. Near Greeneville is the Davy Crockett birthplace state park and over in Rogersville you will find the oldest Courthouse still in use in the state. Jonesboro is the oldest town in Tennessee and the downtown is full of great little shops and historic homes. If there is anything in particular that you are interested in just send me a private message and I will try to help. Oh, there is also a huge fireworks display in Knoxville on Labor Day called Boomsday.

If you were coming to Northeast TN, I could provide more first-hand recommendations, but here are some links to things you can do in Knoxville and Chattanooga. I think you have a good plan to stay away from the Smokies/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg because it will probably be very crowded there.Things to do in Knoxville-visit the Sunsphere (built for a World s Fair in the 80s); they just reopened the observation deck this summer.-visit UT campus, maybe watch the football game (I think they re playing Away that weekend, though).-zoo (it s pretty small)http://knoxville.org/eventshttp://www.10best.com/Knoxville/FYI, they are doing a LOT of road construction on the interstate through Knoxville, so it s a mess right now. Sorry I can t give better ideas, but I usually just go to Knoxville to visit my sister.Things to do in Chattanooga-aquarium-riverfront has all kinds of things to do.-See Rock City! (Okay, that s kind of a joke because there are signs all along the interstate for Rock City and Ruby Falls)http://www.chattanoogafun.com/http://www.10best.com/Chattanooga/Hopefully you can use the websites to find something that sounds interesting to you, as I don t know exactly what kinds of things interest you, so my suggestions are pretty general. Have a great trip.

I suppose it depends on what time of year you go, but there are some wonderful things to do in East Tennessee. Of course it also depends on what you like to do.Jonesborough, TN. - one of the best story telling festivals that I have ever been to.October 5-7, 2007Phone: 423-753-2171Toll-Free: 800-952-8392Chattanooga, TN - there is a large shopping area, I believe it is called Warehouse Row. Of course you have the TN Aquarium and the IMAX Theater. If you have children they might enjoy the Creative Discovery Museum. And,of course there is always the yummy Russell Stover s Candy Store.Knoxville, TN - UT Vols!!!! - Anyone can buy tickets and go see a great game. Course, if you aren t a foot ball fan, sometimes its fun to just go watch the crazy people. Knoxville also has a good zoo and the Old City district with lots of shopping at Market Square, with over 600 yummy restaurants to choose from in town.Crossville,TN - Has the Cumberland County Playhouse, which has had many great Plays, including Broadway favorites like Cats. Here is their website - http://www.ccplayhouse.com/Well, I hope this helped a little. And, have fun discovering East TN.

Go to Chattanooga and go to the Aquarium and the Imax theaters (right near each other.)And of course Nashville....music city!

Would it be dangerous for a english girl? -

In 2 months I m going to new york with my family, and I like to explore. I might get these names wrong, so please excuse me. But I m sure that the places me and my best friend want to adventure into together is the bronx, queens, harlem and so on. I v seen things on tv and stuff , but I don t always judge from tv , so can i get your opinion on two white english girls going in these places.

You wrote, the places me and my best friend want to adventure into together is the bronx, queens, harlem and so on Well, OK, those would be good places to visit if you re interested in seeing the worst, most boring parts of New York City, but, other than that, I d recommend that you avoid them.I mean, it s not that you d get mugged or killed if you went there, but, frankly, they re just ugly, boring neighborhoods with little redeeming value to them, to tell you the truth. If you d like to explore New York City, I d recommend that you stay in Manhattan or maybe venture into Brooklyn, but avoid the other boroughs altogether.Good luck, and the link below is to a webpage about Greenwich Village, one of New York City s more charming neighborhoods, and the links on the left side of that page will take you to good pages about all of New York City s other explorable neighborhoods...

WHY???? I m from Scotland and was in NY in May this year and saw brilliant amazing things in Manhattan, and wonder why you would want to leave there to go to these notorious places. you can see Harlem from the hop on hop off open top bus tour, but there are so many areas around Manahattan to explore, you don t have to stick to midtown, you could explore all the avenues from east river to Hudson river. In my honest opinion, it sounds to me like your after a reaction, either on this site or in these areas. if going to NY think yourself very lucky to be able to afford to go and enjoy the things that are safe for 2 `white girls` to see.

No it won t be unsafe as long as you are safe. Certain parts of the bronx are very good, but because your not from there I wouldnt go exploring. Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx have nice and bad areas. Dont go at night obviously, and I would make it a general rule to not go past 100st in manhattan at night. During the day its ok. All and all though New york is a safe place, just dont be stupid

....ok so you want to explore eh mateswhy don t u go down to east london where all black, paki, indi and hispanish live ....it just like that in bronx , queens and harlem and worst.

Well it depends on where u go there. There r areas that r not safe there, while there r places aren t. So be sure on where in those places ur going to visit first.
