Parents working on my birthday... what to do? -
priority #1--make sure you have the money to get home.ding
Be happy that your family has jobs that they are able to go to.Some are not so fortunate. You could go to Lucky Strikes Lane (on West 42nd Street) alone or hangout with your friends as they allow under 21 there Monday to Friday until 5:30PM and Saturdays until 8:00PMhttp://411newyork.org/clubs/events/2008/Nightclub for 13 to 20 (21 and older not allowed).http://411newyork.org/clubs/events/2009/
The United States is in a recession. Be thankful your parents still have a job. I m sure they didn t forget you. When you become a parent you will understand that you don t forget your children s birthday. They are probably planning something for after they get home from work.
Be careful in NYC at age 13. Im sure your parents didnt forget about you. Living in NYC is quite expensive, they need to make money. Perhaps, they will surprise you in the evening.
FRIENDS NYC! 100 DOLLARS ANYTHING MORE I GOTTA I SAY!!!
I lost my nj drivers licence. and now i want to get me a new one but a ny one now cause im in ny so what shoul? -
Get a copy of the license from the NJ DMV or whatever they call themselves. Then go to the NY DMV where you will only need to take a written test. The manual is available on line, so give it a quick read through.Without the Jersey docs you would probably need to take a road test in NY.
By lost I take it you mean taken by the cops. You re going to have to take the written test AND the driving test all over again. Get an appointment with the DMV for the written test, pass that, then schedule your driving test and pass that. You ll also have to have proof that you live in NY now.
Picking someone up from Union Station in Chicago, somewhere I can park my car in the meantime? -
Right across the street on the opposite side of canal street there is a huge indoor parking lot where you can park and i think if you get you ticket validated its free there is a small Indian restaurant/cafe there called The Village where you can go and buy a coke and they will validate your ticket and you can park for i think its 45 mins.
In that area you have to pay unfortunately down the street is a parking lot that charges eight bucks an hour. Time your schedule right and you will not have to pay allot two minutes late is a additional eight bucks.
Is Mesker Park Zoo amp; Botanic Garden in Evansville,IN amp; Evansville Zoo in Evansville,IN the same Zoo ? -
What to do in the Richmond District of San Fran? -
* Lands End (park). NW end of the city, just north of the Cliff House/Sutro Baths. Especially if you get off the main path, lots of small paths through the forest, along the bluffs, to the beach, etc... For that matter, the Sutro Baths and Sutro Heights Park are quite nice, too. Also, the Seal Rock Inn is right across, and the restaurant makes great omelettes. * Geary St, from about Funston through 25 Ave. Number of great Russian markets (Europa, 19th Ave, and Old World Market, 20th Ave ?, are quite nice) and bakeries. Also great other stuff... Gaspare s at 20th has the best pizza in the city, imo. Strip also contains a great smoothie place with lychee and aloe gel in the smoothies, various other restaurants, stores, etc...* Clement St, from Arguello through Funston, mostly around 5th/6th, I guess. Very Asian (mostly Chinese), lots of cheapo little general store type places, great markets, restaurants, fantastic dim-sum dives, etc... Also includes Green Apple Books (as mentioned on the site), which is a pretty good bookstore.* Presidio. In addition to trails and all that (most of which are being renovated , which is really ******* annoying, but whatever), there are tons of abandoned buildings, bunkers (some preserved, some wih great graffiti), etc... The bluffs just south of the GG Bridge are also quite nice, and the beach below (can either take the stairs through trails or just walk down an easy part of the cliffs - my preference) is the quietest in the city. You can take the beach all along to the base of the bridge. Also, near the cemetery (which is nice, too), there s the oldest church in SF (built in the 1700s, originally Catholic but now interfaith... interesting the look in if you just avoid services).* Legion of Honor. Fine art museum... probably the best in the city, and definitely the best for classical arts. * A few blocks east of the Richmond is the Jewish Community Center, which typically has some interesting stuff.Lots of other stuff too, but those are personal favorite places/areas. Also, Golden Gate Park is fine if you re not familiar with the area... but frankly, all the other parks bordering the Richmond (Lands End, Presidio, Sutro Baths, Ocean Beach, etc...) are much nicer.
Golden Gate Park has lots of great things to see, the Academy of Science, the Deyoung art museum, the conservatory of flowers, japanese tea garden, paddle boat rentals, the Park Chalet for drinks and dinner.Clement street between 2nd an 10 has lots of great shops including one of the city s best independent books stores Green Apple. Also lots of good restaurants and a few interesting bars.Explore Ocean Beach from the Windmill to Sutro Bath ruins. These things should keep you busy for a weekend.
You gotta check out Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach.
Is it cheaper to book online for a bus tour to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas or buy tickets in Vegas? -
The problem waiting to buy your ticket is how do you compare prices. At least online you can check different sites and compare. Check at the bottom of this webpage for a short listing of tours. You can click on them and find a huge list of choices to fit any budget.
If you want to save $$$ drive yourself. The part of the GC that is most advertised bus tours is for an Indian Reservation at the extreme West of the canyon. If you want to see the real Grand Canyon go to the South Rim of the park. There are really lots of places that you can see easily on way to the South Rim. Lake Mead http://vegasnature.com/LakeMead.htm Hoover Dam http://vegasnature.com/HooverDam.htm Colorado River http://vegasnature.com/ColoradoRiver.htm Oatman http://vegasnature.com/Oatman.htm Grand Canyon http://vegasnature.com/GrandCanyon.htm on the way back stop in Laughlin http://vegasnature.com/Laughlin.htm http://www.vegasnature.com/ has videos of each area followed by maps showing how to get there
A bus trip only makes financial sense if you are travelling alone. If there are two of you, then rent a car. Go to the South Rim (it is further than West Canyon ). West Canyon is very expensive to do anything. ------------The smartest thing is to make it an overnight trip.
You will most likely get a better deal if you buy your tickets ahead of time than waiting till you get to Vegas. You are also guaranteed a seat for the time you want to go on the tour.http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/las-vegas
My parents are headed down Dec. 6. My understanding is they re renting a car to get down to the Grand Canyon. You can probably get one pretty cheap... I d say it s worth looking into. Check out the site I m putting together too... http://vegas-hotel-reviews.com
It depends on your flexibility... You will get a cheaper price on the strip... Yet the time may interfere with your plans...
Buying the ticket ahead of time may not get a cheaper deal but you are guaranteed to go the time and day you want
How far is the distance between the two? Would it be possible to walk from Grand Central Station to the MoMA? -
The walk is easy. Grand Central is at 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue. MoMA is on 53rd Street near Fifth Avenue. Figure the walk will take about 20 minutes, and will be through a safe and interesting area.I wouldn t bother with the subway or a cab unless the weather is lousy.
MoMa is located 10 blocks north of Grand Central, therefore, you can either walk the half mile and do some window shopping on Fifth Avenue, or take the subway to the museum. If you re taking the subway, take the uptown (northbound) #7 train (Purple Line on the subway map) from Grand Central to 5th Avenue-Bryant Park, where a transfer can by made to the 6th Avenue Line (Orange Line on the subway map).At 5th Avenue, transfer upstairs to the uptown V train (Orange Line), which will take you from 42nd Street to 5th Avenue-53rd Street.Once you exit the subway at 5th Avenue-53rd Street, walk a short distance to the museum. The fare on the subway is $2.25 each way.Good luckNative New Yorker
It is a short walk, about three quarters of a mile. There is so much to see that it will seem like niothing. The subway would save at best a couple of minutes. A bus up Madison maybe a little more. Each is $2.25 each way. A cab may run about $5 or $6.Walk! Try to leave the Terminal on the Vanderbilt ave Exit at 45th street. Walk west to Fifth Ave, one short and then one long block. Turn right and go up to 53rd st, eight short blocks. Turn left and you are there. Save the carfare, it costs $20 to get in.
The subway is $2.25 one way. It s definitely walkable (as outlined above by Don W).If you decide to take the subway, you can take the 6 up one stop (to 51st and Lexington) and just walk the rest of the way (it s only about 3 avenues) or transfer (free!) at 51st and Lex for the E or V trains and take either of those one stop, to 53rd and Lexington.
Subway round trip less than 5 bucks.Cab more like $15- upWalk ? like 2 miles
