Helpful hints for going to 6th street NYE 2010? -

Guess I m just looking for a little info so my group can be prepared for certain things. Such as, is there free parking anywhere near it? Which bars/clubs generally have free cover? Besides the obvious, is it much different on NYE then a regular night? And I d love to hear about your sixth street experiences!

Yikes. 6th Street on NYE.....No free parking anywhere after probably 3 PM. No free covers. 6th Street will be closed to vehicle traffic. Way different as there will be many more people than on a regular night. Cops everywhere, which is good because of the pickpockets and assorted other scum. Many many DUI, DWI, and drunk in public arrests. My advice is, if you can afford it, hire a car and driver to drop you off and pick you up.

Here s a helpful hint: Don t go.Sixth street, especially the bars and nightclubs on Sixth, amounts to one of the most-hyped, least interesting areas of Austin. ... But if you do go, go to the Ritz Theater (now known as the Alamo at the Ritz). (My family has a financial interest in it.)

There s a hotel on Frontera and Glassell (Fairfield Inn, I think) where you can park in their lot without being hasseled. As for seeing stars, you should be able to see about 13 of them. You re still in the city, and have a lot of light pollution.

How close do want to live to Berkeley? The BART runs through from Bay Point to concord to Union City to S.F. so transportation is pretty easy. I can tell you the cities NOT to live in. =) Antioch, Pittsburg, Bay Point, Oakland... Brentwood is nice, Some parts of Concord are nice. San Ramon, Dublin, Clayton are all very nice but a little pricey. Email me if you need more info

Can I get into the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor? -

So I m a senior and I have already submitted my app for MIchigan BEFORE the early notification date.. I m taking 2 ap s this year.. but the only problem is that in one of my classes, (Precal) I currently have a D. Will that ruin my chances?? The rest of my grades throughout highschool have been consistantly good with all A s and B s.. it s just this ONE class that I can t seem to get.. can i still get into the university? pleaseee give me info!

Ann Arbor - with As and Bs and now a D? You need an A- or better GPA with great SATs etc.So no way, sorry.EDIT: don t be mad because I didn t tell you what you wanted to hear. Probably 3,000,000 high school students get As and Bs - so what? Then let s not forget non US students... millions get your grades or better.

If you don t have a 3.9 + GPA - you will not get in. In the past UM and many other schools were letting us women and some minorities in with less, but lawsuits are screwin up the gravy train for us.precalc is an easy class - if you have problems in it you will never make it through and degree requiring math.
