New York City apartment classified..........? -

Me and guitarist is moving to Manhattan ( lived there before ) from UK. We might be there for a year. Anyways are there any website ( NO MORE CRAIGLIST FOR US ) that we can go to look for ROOMS in Manhattan or NYC area?2) To avoid scams what must I look for in an owner before any cash transactions? Can I look for SSN number?I lived in Brooklyn for a year and west bronx for 5 months in 2003-2006 times

You should already know if you haved lived in NY for more than a year. Check the Village Voice for sublets because a paying landlord is not likely to be a flake. Use an agency that offers either home swaps or sublets. You can look for a permanent place later.

The other person is right. You cant get a person s SSN to check. You don t have authority to get information on them, do you? You can try a fee R.E. broker for temp rental. Try to deal with owner, not super, some scams ask for key money. Some sublets are illegal. Report Abuse

No owner is going to give you, a complete stranger their SS #s You could be a scam artist too after all and cheap space in New York will be snapped up without any problems. There are a number of agencies that specialize in finding roommates such as:http://www.roommatefinders.com/Please note, I have no personal experience with this agency. You may want to register with a few good real estate agencies and put your name on college campuses looking for reputable shares. If you are willing to deal with the commute, try living in Staten Island and taking the ferry in. The North Bronx such as Morris Park, Bedford Park or Pelham park is also well-served by express buses, rail and public transportation so you may want to check this area too.

What part of Boston should my family move to? -

Were a Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian, Native American Indian, Arabian/Persian (East Indian, Israeli, etc) family of 5. We plan on moving to boston, we have a reason (not job/work). As you can probably see, were looking for an area that s racially even, and is affordable. We want a nice, well kept area. Preferably a suburb, not too far from the city though, not to close either. Somewhere with a really good public school system. Our budget is anywhere between $250,000 - $600,000. We need a 4-5 bed and 2-3 bath, w/ yard. Please be specific on naming the neighborhoods, thank you!

westwood wellesley weston canton milton

southie has a good irish-catholic neighborhood. housing varies from projects to penthouses. brookline, cambridge (where harvard is), and a couple parts of jamaica plain are my favorite parts. boston latin and latin academy are two of the best public schools around.

What are the nicest cities in california to live in? -

Preferebly surburban areas. Low crime rate, pretty surroundings, friendly people, good schools....Stuff like that. I want to move their when I m 19 so places for people starting off..

Compton, Watts... the list goes on and on

California has more residents than the entire country of Australia, so your question is vague. Do you want to be on the coast? Do you want to be in the mountains? Do you want to be in Southern, Central, or Northern California? Are you going to college, or are you hoping to go straight into the workforce? We need answers to these questions before we can give you practical answers. Here are some thoughts to get you started:*San Francisco Bay Area - Great place for young and old alike, but very expensive. Moving here without first having a job arranged, or without being enrolled in college, is a very bad idea.*Los Angeles - A large metropolis that is more affordable than the Bay Area. Culturally different than SF, as there is more of a focus on the Hollywood lifestyle, etc. May have better luck moving here without a job or college arranged, but do yourself a favor and do not move here to be an actor. You ll end up a waiter/waitress.*San Diego area - Smaller of the three big cities in California. Very nice weather, costs about the same as LA. Not the best job market, but still respectable.*Sacramento area - Cheaper still, but inland (read: hot and potentially boring). It can work. Job market is okay, but state government is a huge industry there and the state is not doing so well right now.*Central Valley (Fresno, Bakersfield, etc.) - Avoid avoid avoid!*Central-ish Coast - Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara are both beautiful places to live, but the job markets are absolutely terrible. Even if you move to either town for college, there s a good chance you ll have to move out to find work. Monterey and San Luis Obispo have their charms but are small with tough job markets, plus they are not as youth oriented as other parts of the state.

The nice cities are the most expensive so I hope you have a trust fund.I live in Marin county and that is all the things you are asking for -- very close to the ocean and the bay, hiking, boating, upscale restaurants, boutiques, hi-end food markets, little crime, great schools, very beautiful scenery.Sausalito, Tiburon, Mill Valley, Corte Madera, Greenbrae

there are tons of nice cities in CALIFORNIA... california is huuuge... like bay area, southern cali, sacramento.... theres tons.. theres also taho (mountains and snow) bay area (bay... very diff from southern cali) theres the desert and then the major cities... so when u say what are good cities in california.. u must be specific cuz cali is all diff and very big

daly city, a little town just south of SF, pretty cheap living, low crime, very friendly, schools not bad, kinda suburban, very diverse

Santa Cruz might be perfect for you. It d a small-ish city and home to a pretty good college. And even though it s small, there is still a lot to do for a young person.

santa cruz, half moon bay, danville, lafayette, north oakland, mill brae, san ramon, walnut creek, greenbrae

i never lived, but San Francisco was amazing!!!!!

How much is renting skates, plus iceskating at? -

Rockefeller Centerand Chelsea Piers?

At Chelsea Piers, it will cost you $7.50 and at Rockefeller Center, it will cost you $9.I hope this information is very helpful.Good luck and happy holidaysNative New Yorker

I forget how much it was at Rockefeller but I thought it was a rip off. The view of the tree isn t that great, it s very small, and the ice quality is awful. I would recommend a day trip to your local ice skating rink you ll get a much better skating experience. The skates we re also very uncomfortable and there was absolutely no room to put on your skates very crowded and hectic.

I KNOW Rock Center has a website with that info and I d guess that Chelsea Piers does, too.

Native New Yorker has got it right, but i would just like to add, my great gpa built rockefeller center! :]

If you could go to 3 of the 4 disney parks what would they be and why? -

Magic Kingdom is a must!!! It is Disney World in a box! This is what people think of when they hear Disney and the trip wouldn t be the same without it. It is the fantasy land you dreamed of as a child that has come to life. There are so many wonderful attractions; it would be impossible to see everything in one day. This park holds many Disney World legends such as the 3 mountains (splash, space, and big thunder), The Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Epcot: I love Epcot! It has lots of attractions related to imagination and fantasy in future world. It is very interesting to go through world showcase and see all of the different countries. They have more of the real world attractions then say magic kingdom. There is 2 buildings called Innoventions filled with different science-ish type activities. They are definitely not boring and school-like though. There is tons of simulators and things. There is the Nemo exhibit where the Seas used to be which is fun for kids, but worth stopping by for adults. Also, Test Track and Mission space are great for thrill junkies.Animal Kingdom is a great park filled with a big variety of attractions. There is first of all, all of the animals, as well as thrill rides, shows, and parades. It is NOT a typical zoo. Also, there is lots for kids and adults to do. It has been extremely renovated in the last few years. Expedition Everest was added for a new thrill ride. Finding Nemo the Musical is spectacular! Also, you may not always see alot of animals on the safari, but there are other smaller pens you can see them. Warning: It is a VERY big park so if you will be with people who cannot walk for long periods of time this may not be for you. Overall, I loved it though. Hollywood Studios (previously MGM) is a great park, but in my opinion has the least to do. When I went this June, we did everything there and were finished by 5pm. We could have found a couple more things but overall there was less. Don t get me wrong, I love the Old Hollywood atmosphere, thrill rides, and movie attractions. There is more things here that appeal to older people. The attractions include movies that may be rated PG-13 and can sometimes be scary. I really enjoyed it but again has less to do.Overall its up to your personal opinion which ones to choose, but as far as getting you money s worth Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom would be my picks. However, if you aren t interested in Epcot or Animal Kingdom, you won t be disappointed by Hollywood Studios.

Like most others here I would skip Animal Kingdom if I had to, even though I actually enjoy the park. However, if you re only going three days total, I would probably go the the Magic Kingdom twice and one other park once - especially if it s a busy time of year (i.e. Christmas). The Magic Kingdom is the park that everyone thinks of when they think of Disney. It s worth it to take an extra day to see it in it s entirety. You also might consider the hopper option. One day at MK, one day at your other top choice park and then the third day split between the final two parks.

magic kingdom- has all of the classic rides and attractions which makes it feel the most disney .hollywood studios- has two of the best thrill rides (rock n roller coaster and tower of terror). plus it has stage shows like beauty and the beast and the little mermaid and it has many features of the golden age of hollywood which is what i m really into. epcot- its fun and educational at the same time. its a very interactive park where you can check out all the latest technology and culture. its slightly more relaxed that the other parks above and it has the best fireworks display.i would NOT go to animal kingdom cuz to be honest i really don t like it. i feel like its just a zoo with a few other attractions. the animals hide in the shade so you are lucky if you get to see them at all. other than where the animals are there is no shade so you are out in the buring hot sun all day. there s a lot of walking even though there s not much to do. and if you are a thrill junkie then expedition everest is disappointing. (even my niece who was 8 when she first went on it cuz thats then it opened said it was boring).

1. Magic Kingdom -classic Disney magic, you can t go to Disney World and miss the classic disney experience#2. Epcot -wonder cultural experience. Great food, and can actually be educational and fun, no joke. *Fun Fact: At the World Showcase, everyone working at that country is from that country*#3. Hollywood Studios- fun relaxing day , lots of shows and more interaction. I only spent a 1/2 a day there and wished i would have done way more!

1. Magic Kingdom- it has all the rides, and the castle/the princessess and it has the best parades.2. Epcot- Love LOVE loveeee the countries in it. also you can try a little bit of everything there. 3. MGM- the 50s restarauntt and the ridess i love it alli would not go to animal kingdom because 1. its hot. 2. its too spread out.

MGM studios- It s Freaking awesome, It s very captivating and cool. Stars Wars and The Muppets are pretty cool, in my opinion.Magic Kingdom- Also freaking amazing, that s probably the best of all 4 placesEpcot- Only if your older or an adult. There s not a lot to do for kids and I think only one rollercoaster. On the other hand if your a kid go to Animal Kingdom, Kids are always facinated by animals.

You must go to the heart of Disney, and thats Magic Kingdom, my favorite though was Hollywood Studios.Toss up between Epcot and Animal Kingdom, both have some great rides, really depends on what rides you are interested in. Research that first, pick which rides you are most interested in and do it.

Magic Kingdom-makes me the happiest and is the most magical parkHollywood Studios-my personal favorite and has the best rides and showsEpcot- super fun and super interesting and has the best fireworks show of all timeAnimal Kingdom has less attractions and is more educational I would skip out on that one

MK, everyone should do this one regardless of age.Disney Hollywood Studios, the Lights, Motors, Action show is great.Epcot, the GM Test Track and Soarin are worth the price of admisson.Tripadvisor.com a free site, check out the Orlando section for more info.

Is it true that Melbourne in Florida USA was named after Melbourne Victoria Australia by a postman? -

also...how do both cities compare?

The city was named Melbourne in honor of its first postmaster, Cornthwaite John Hector, an Englishman who had spent much of his life in Melbourne, Australia. there is no comparison both are completely different in every way

Whats the best US City to move to and start a new life on my own? -

Braddock, Pa.

For a US city to be the best, you have to look at several things like public transportation, budget, employment, good quality of life, low crime rate, scenery and more.Seattle really is an interesting and great place to start a fresh life.it is very green and its nickname is the Emerald city.the city has magnificent views of Mt Rainier and the Olympic Mountains, and the Pacific Ocean is only one hour and 45 minutes away or nearly 2 hours.Big companies are based in Seattle like Microsoft,Starbucks,Boeing,Amazon, among others, and the city is Bill Gates hometown.

Depends on your lifestyle, really. I grew up in the midwest and decided I wanted to do the same thing, so I moved to Tampa, FL. Florida is beautiful overall. I despise cold weather, but if you can t tolerate heat, I would suggest someplace else. My 2 suggestions would be Tampa or Miami... but you can almost bet that the cost of everything will be much more expensive here than what you re used to. That is, unless you re coming from some place such as NYC or Cali... Very fast paced life style, lots of diverse cultures and people, so if you re the farmer Joe type who likes the rural settings with cows and chickens, I d suggest moving to Indiana or Kentucky LOL

How do you convince someone to move to NYC? -

I m trying to convince a friend to want to move to New York City. (:Any ideas? Please and thanks.

I honestly think this is a bad idea. Let people decide on their own where to live. NYC is not for everyone. I love it here, but nothing is worse than someone who doesn t want to be here.

Start with a visit. Or send them copies of the local paper highlighting things that might interest them. Things to do and see or job possibilities.

I AM M.B.A. amp; WANT TO GO TO USA FOR FUTHER SUDIES? -

mba in finance

If you want to come to the United States to continue your studies contact the nearest U.S. Embassy, and inquire about obtaining a student visa. Understand that with a student visa you are NOT allowed to work in the United States, and once your studies are completed you are required to return to your home country. Also be prepared to pay a higher tuition rate as an international student.

peedlepup is correct for the most part but you would be allowed to work: * Students may work on campus as long as they are enrolled in school. * Students may apply for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) to gain work experience in their field of study while being a full time student. * Students may take advantage of Optional Practical Training (OPT) once the degree is completed as a full time employee. * Many students obtaining a bachelor or master s degree in the United States go on to be sponsored by their employer for an H-1B Work Visa.

My son wants to take a weekend trip to Seattle, WA...any suggestions? -

My 16 year old son has always been fascinated with Seattle (don t know why) and wants to take a weekend trip with my husband. Any suggestions on what spots to visit and what to do? It d be sometime early January. We are from Los Angeles.

EMP is a definite must-see if he s into music at all. They could go see Bruce Lee s grave up at Lakeview Cemetery. Or Jimi Hendrix s grave down in Renton at Greenwood Cemetery. Take a ferry ride, for sure. Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe is cool and that s on the watefront, just north of the ferry terminal. Take a ride on the monorail then go to EMP and up to the top of the Space Needle. See the Fremont Troll, which lives under Aurora Ave in Fremont. Drive up to Snoqualmie Falls if they re going to have a rental car (chains would be advised in January). Check out the Museum of Flight down at Boeing Field. Take the Underground Tour in Pioneer Square...very cool...then if he s into books go to Elliot Bay Book Store in Pioneer Square. Go to a Seahawks game. And Dad will be the coolest dad ever if he takes him to Dick s Drive-In (burgers and fries) for dinner one night. Go to the location on Broadway Ave in Capitol Hill.I m just rattling off ideas that may appeal to a teenage boy...you can Google any of these things to get more information or directions. If you need directions to Bruce Lee or Jimi Hendrix s gravesites, email me at jedi_party@yahoo.com and I ll tell you how to find them in the cemeteries.

Yeah, you can take him to Seattle Centre that s the big park where Space Needle is and Key Arena and also the Pacific Science Center is there and they have a planetarium. http://seattlecenter.com/events/location Then you can go to the water front and go to the Seattle Aquarium, Then you can go on the underground tour in Pioneer Square, http://www.undergroundtour.com/ Seattle oldest downtown and also in Pionner Sq on king street is where the Qwest Field is where the Seahawks Play. Oh and I almost forgot, you should definately do the Ride the Ducks Tours http://www.ridetheducksofseattle.com/ And here is a good Seattle Map, all the areas in yellow in the center are bus ride free areas where its free to get on and off any metro bus before 7 pm. Its great to get from the Pike Market to Pioneers SQ on first ave. http://tourmap.com/map_inside.aspx?city=

I ve lived in Seattle my WHOLE life! I ts really a fun place to go to. I recommend Seattle Center. A great tourist spot! I love going there. There s a giant water fall, art everywhere, concert halls around(key arena), the famous space needle (cost money to go in, but it s worth it), rides, monorails, and the emp! I think that s what its called. It s a must go. It s ALL about music! They used to have an area dedicated to Jimmy Hendrix but now that s gone. :( But that doesnt mean anything else isn t fun! Lots of music history and things to look at there. And take the monorail from there and go to Westlake mall (which is in Downtown Seattle). Downtown Seattle has TONS of places to shop. Westlake mall is just one place. (great food court on the top floor though). If your son is into shopping or just walking around, its just like newyork! (except cleaner, haha.) And when you get the chance, go to Public Parket Place (better known as Pike Place center) There are great places to eat there, (try to mac and cheese it s to die for!) and there s lots of boquetts of flowers, honey sticks, fresh fish (fish tossing is very popular there) and just walk around there too! It s got a real seattle vibe to it. And if you guys are really bored, you can go by the bronze pig and go down the stairs. Keep walking to what looks like a dark alley (it s not dangerous), you ll see the BIGGEST wall of gum there. It s really something you have to see for yourself. There s also international town (china town) and there are a few cool places there! Go to Uwajimaya. It s a japanese store, and its huge! They have lots of food and cool things to look at. Also if he s into baseball or football go to Safeco feild (baseball) and Qwest field (football). Theyre truly amazing! Also you can go to the seattle aquarium! Near the train track, the water front and the spaghetti factory (which i recommend going to if you get the chance). And walk around that area. There are some really neat stores there. Lots of food and antique stores..souvineer shops. One of the antique shops have real mummies. Quite scary if you ask me..but they re cool to look at!Well hope I was at help to you in some way :) If you have any more questions please ask me!

How good of a city is Long Beach? -

I m looking for colleges and I m considering CSU Long Beach. How good is that city for a college student?

I am considering CSU Long Beach in the near future as well (currently in community college.)Long Beach it s a pretty chill city. My uncle and aunt live there and I am always looking forward to go whenever they invite me over. For things to do in Long Beach, this site has plenty: http://www.longbeachagent.com/101things/I just wouldn t recommend North Long Beach that s all.As for the campus itself? It s beautiful! I love the campus! And for the education? My English teacher graduated from CSU Long Beach and she said that she loves it and would want to go back and do her 4 years all over again just for the heck of it.

North Long Beach is known as the ghetto. It s unsafe and crime ridden. Report Abuse

CSULB is a good choice. My oldest daughter went there and got her degree. Very nice campus, Try to live on campus, it s much cheaper. Stay out of north Long Beach.

Where can a family hear Christmas carols in northen Virginia/Washington DC area? -

I ve looked online, can t seem to find anything. Thanks.

I think your best best would be in Old Town Alexandria. By the old torpedo factory right on the Potomac river and the boat house, everything around there always looks very Christmas-y, and I know I ve heard carols there before, I just don t know the schedule. To get there, go across the 14 st. bridge, exit immediately after you cross the river onto the GW Pkwy southbound, and take it straight into Old Town. Parking there will be difficult though, and you ll probably have to pay for a garage.

It is too early. Most places do not really get into that mode until after Thanksgiving Day.This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America. Please pick an answer as the best answer, even if it is not mine.Sorry could not tell what you meant. There are kids right now chomping at the bit for Christmas. Please look at the below URL and it should help you with what you are looking for.
