Depends on what kind of food you like. Two of my favorites are a Greek place and a Middle Eastern place (Arabic, I think). The Greek place is called South Street Souvlaki and is located between 5th and 6th street. The Middle Eastern place is called Alyan s and it s on 4th street just below South. Most of the interesting and funky stores are in the low-numbered streets, starting around 9th or 10th and working your way east (lower numbers) as far as 2nd street or so. Also around 10th and South is Isaiah Zagar s Magic Garden , the studio of mural artist Isaiah Zagar. He is kind of a Philly institution and so is his studio. If you ve never seen his work you should check it out.http://www.philadelphiasmagicgardens.orgThe address is 1020 South Street, so that means it s between 10th and 11th.Once you see his style, you ll get to recognize it and realize you re seeing it on storefronts all over town.
