Moving to the DC, Maryland Area? -

New employment has me relocating to Suitland, MD. I am looking to rent a room for an extended period of time to allow me to settle and and get to know the area. I would like to find a location anywhere that will be within walking distance to a green-line metro station. I am unfamiliar with the area and could really use any tips.

Suitland!Brotha, I am not kidding. You do NOT want to LIVE in Suitland. In fact, I doubt if you even want to work there.Nearby communities include Waldorf MD and Upper Marlboro MD...possibly even Clinton MD. But even these community have their fair share of crime. But Suitland! Stay the hell away from Suitland my friend.

Im moving from Philly to the southeast (SC, GA or FL). How do I pick a moving company and not get scammed.? -

Thee are so many different fly by night moving companies and I need help on how to choose a moving company and not get scammed.

Here are a few tips that the moving company is not on the up and up:1. Many scammers prefer to give oral quotes over telephones and do not offer to enter into any contract in writing. 2. They are really not interested in inspecting the goods that are to be transported by visiting the premises and making an accurate estimate. 3. They quote prices that are ridiculously low and insist on deposits in cash. Several moving companies which have created online presence possess nothing more than a van and a logo. They paint the logo on to their van and quote for moving bids undercutting the competition.Get at least 3 quotes and if one of them is ridiculously low, throw it in the trash. Usually it is a good indication that they are going to scam you. Quotes should be be competitive. Ask friends for recommendations and going with the major carriers carriers is usually a safe bet. Remember the saying, You Get What You Pay For .

Don t use a fly-by-night company. Use one of the majors . Your phone book will have lots of them listed. You could also use Angie s List to see comments from past clients.

Other than Miami.. what other beach destinations are out there? -

it happended that i got 1 week off on the new year!.. I m thinking of spending it on the beach.. i m looking (white sand, clear blue water, great views, palm trees, vollyball.. u know.. beach stuff)..i was thinking San Diego.. but i realized today that the water get really cold in the winter.. :(so the only other destination is Florida.. i ve been to Miami before and i m looking for a more naive beach, so: where else can i go for a perfect beach vacation..thx in advance..

Consider one of the resorts in the Keys that has a private beach and scheduled outdoor activities.

if You bring Your girl friend i personally recommend Key west .You gonna have sunrises and sunsets, fast party or relaxing time as your choice. You can go and snorkeling or skin dive in a charterer boat ( in cay tortuga) or get at white sandy beach at the national state park.and the best of all.everything is at a stone throw it is a real paradise.

Deerfeild beach its by ft lauderdale i live in miami and go to deerfeild beach almost every weekend at a hotel called rainbow on the ocean great place trust me you wont regret it.. if you need more info you can email me at franchise_fast18@hotmail.com

Key West would probably be your best bet because it is the furthest south you can go without going out of the main land. Key West is the only place without recordings of 32 degrees at night. The water would be the warmest there.

The Gulf Coast part of Florida is really nice... it s SouthWest Florida Fort Myers beach,Sanibel Island,Captiva island,Marco island etc all are in the same area and are really nice beaches. Then there s KeyWest as another option.

key biscayne. but honestly miami is the best this time of year. i dont like the west coast beaches. i really like jupiter as well but water there is a bit colder than miami

St Petersburg, Clearwater, Naples, Sarrasota, Fort Myers ring a bell?

ft lauderdale beach is nice. lots of bars on a1a near las olas blvd has clubs and restaurants

Repulse Bay, Clearwater Bay, Sai Kung in Hong Kong, unique and wonderful. Hong Kong is recently confirmed a must-visit by a CNN poll. Check www.DiscoverHongKong.com and enjoy!

Corpus Christi TexasMyrtle Beach.Venice Beach. Anywhere in Australia.

Dyker Height (NY) - Christmas Lights? -

We are coming to NYC and would like to visit Dyker Heights lights. We plan on getting the subway to 71st St Station, but would like to know the best streets for the dyker street area for christmas lightsWe are walking from the station to the dyker heights (unless we can catch a taxi), so want to know the best areas and to get there straight away... Thanks...

71st ? on the D train ? oh no no, i would suggest getting off the R train on 86st.You will end up on 4th ave and 86st when you get off. Head towards 5th ave direction and keep walking, when you get to 7th ave keep walking the next block, which is 11th ave. There are no 8th,9th,or 10th aves. So when you get to 11th ave or 12th ave (if u want) *while on 86st, turn left (thats the only turn) and from there you can walk about 2 blocks more if you want. That ll be like 84st and you will see the houses. Most houses do their lights every year, but some skip a year or so, so it s not always accurate which one to go for. But deffinetly some of the good ones are between 11th ave and 13th avenues on 84th st, 83rd, 82nd, and there s more towards the 70s. Woah I hope that wasn t confusing

What street does the Hollywood walk of fame start on? -

It starts at Gower, but it also runs north and south on Vine, besides just on Hollywood Blvd, and ends at La Brea.

La Brea and Hollywood Boulevard it either starts or ends, but it does not go beyond that either way.You can start there and keep walking east on Hollywood Blvd. and it goes beyond Hollywood and Vine and maybe it does end further east at Argyle..

I think Argyle ave is the starting point but i ll level with you IT S BEEN YEARS since i was there

Texans i need your help!? -

the wife and i want to move to texas, but we have no clue as to what areas are better than others. We both work for national chains and can transfer pretty much anywhere in texas.. so any suggestions? we are looking for somewhere not ghetto and just regular middle class america to start a family

Suburban Dallas might be a match for you. There are nice middle class communities throughout the area, not just in the suburbs north of the city.

There is every possible chain store in the Fort Worth, Arlington, Dallas area. You can read their papers on line for more info. Another area is Hurst, Bedford Euless,( East of Fort Worth, West of Arlington.) These suburbs known as HEB. All these run togeather. There is some undevoloped areas before Dallas after Fort Worth on I30 but filling up more every year. I would suggest suburbs and not inside city area. I have good friends that live in area near Austin called Cedar Park. Another suggestion is look up the Chamber of Commerence for more info on your final decisions.

Hi..I d love to help you if I could. I am a life-long Texan. I live in Longview in Eastern Texas off I-20 near Shreveport La. I have also lived on the gulf coast region, so basically I know my way around. You don t mention any details of why types of cities you like or more rural. Longview is considered to be economically stable and doing well. Come see what we can off you. Fee free to email and talk. I can hook you up with info about different areas of texas...email me.

I live in The Woodlands Tx. It is a great area and it is growing rapidly. It is like living in a mini city because we have all of the nice restraunts and a mall but there are a lot of affordable houses in the area. Great school systems and tons of hike and bike trails. If you are curious just look online. The Woodlands has a website. It is about 30 min. north of down town Houston.

The area north of Dallas looks pretty good. McKinney et al.

Why Texas? Move to California man. The best little country in the world.

HOUSTON!!!

What your looking for is San Antonio,I live here and its the Bees Kneesplus we have a sweet night life

try Arlington or Quinlin

Anywhere north of Dallas, or Longview in east Texas, or Nacogdoches. Lubbock is not near as big as Dallas but is big enough to have opportunities and bigger than Longview or Nacogdoches. Greenville is a smaller town that is nice on I-30.

Does the Caballo NM KOA rv park have cabins to rent? -

Most, if not all KOA s have at least one if not more cabins, but you need to bring your own bedding. And I too recommend that you go to www.koa.com or call them directly.

If that info isn t on the KOA website, then you ll need to contact them directly to find out.

I am in Kansas city and want to know what type of food is Kansas city know for? Where should I go? -

Kansas City is known for BBQ. Based off personal experience, however, BBQ in Kansas City is no better than BBQ you can find in other cities and states. But I guess the same probably holds true about Maine lobster, New York pizza, Texas steak, and many other things.

barbecue, there are dozens of good barbecue restaurants in Kansas City. The best way to find a good restaurant is word-of-mouth. Ask people in the area where you are located what the best restaurant is.

The steaks especially Kansas City Strip Steaks. A few good steakhouses are Jess Jim s in Martin City, The Hereford house in Independence,The Savoy grill Downtown, or The Golden Ox by Kemper Arena.

Kansas City is known for its barbecue. You d have to ask around for the best restaurants. Reviews won t REALLY help.

Big T s BBQ, Gates, or Arthur Bryant s. Theres joints everywhere so no worries

Kansas City is famous for its barbecue. Jack Stack is the best.

you could go to the states website or look it up on google.

Do hotels charge more money for each person that stays in one room? -

I m young, and I ve never been in a hotel before, maybe once. But I need someone to fill me in on the expenses of staying in a hotel. Its for a math project. I mostly need how much a hotel like The New York Time would cost for 5 days for 6 people, and 3 rooms. (I would like the cost per day)

Most room rates are based on double occupancy. There is usually a charge for more than 2 people in each room.
