We have been searching B B s, hotels, Inns, resorts, etc and are having a tough time figuring out where would be best to stay. A friend told me to stay in Calistoga, but I ve also heard to stay in Downtown Napa. We will definitely be visiting a winery in Calistoga, and also plan to visit more wineries around the area while in town. We will be there Thanksgiving night through the Saturday afterwards, so we want to maximize what we can do in such a short amount of time, while still enjoying the ambiance and romance of the area. Any suggestions on what city to stay in and what place to stay at? We are looking to spend less than $200/night and if breakfast and/or hors d oeuvres are included, even better.
Calistoga would be better then Napa. In Napa if you stay in a hotel downtown or South end, it will take you 15 to 20 minutes just to get to the northern end of Napa.Staying in Calistoga is walking distance to everything ans 5 minutes or less to the highway or Silverado Trail. So here are some B B s first. Cottage Grove is is very nice surrounded by trees # is 707-942-8400. La Chaumiere also is downtown, # is 707-942-5139. Washington street lodging # is 707-6968.For hotels there is Indian Springs, # is 707-942-4913. Then there is Stevenson manor Best Western. # is 707-942-1112 There is The Lodge at Calistoga. # is 707-942-9400. Finally there is Wine way Inn. The # is 707-942-0680. All of these are nice and convenient, but I don t have pricing for any of these. I left out the really expensive places that I know are way over $200. Enjoy your stay. It is a great place to visit and right now lots of colorful trees and grape leaves. BTW, if you stayed in St Helena or Yountville, they would cost more then if you stayed in Calistoga.
Since your price set for $200 maxium, you will not have trouble to get one, it is light season, you can get $99 in napa valley in Silverado trailYou can get $59 or less in Vallejo, Santa Rosa area.
I would suggest not staying in downtown Napa - that s really kind of remote from the places you will be visiting. When my wife and I were there last year, we stayed at the Jack London Lodge in Glen Ellen (Sonoma Vallley). It s a small motel and the price was within your limits, and the location was very convenient to a number of wineries in Sonoma, and the drive to Napa Valley was only about 30 minutes. It has its own restaurant/bar, and within easy walking distance to a number of other very nice restaurants. Calistoga is at the northern end of Napa Valley. I didn t look for accommodation in that area - I know that there are a number of resorts and B Bs around there, but I don t recall seeing any commercial lodging along any of the roads as we drove around. But I wasn t actually looking for anything.St. Helena and Yountville are more in the center of Napa Valley.
