Hotel check in scenario? -

Ok, so we re under 21 (two of us are 16) planning to go to a business convention in Austin TX. The hotel we are wanting to stay in is 21 check in age. We have a 29 year old friend who can use his card and check us into the hotel, but we would be the only guests actually using the room. The hotel is Wyndham. Is this allowed? They have wet bars in the rooms but we re not going to consume anything in it whatsoever.

Technically, yes you can get away with this. However, if any incidentals are placed on the room, your friend who is the credit card holder will be responsible for them. Don t cause any attention to be drawn to you (by being loud) and you should be fine.

You could probably get your parents to pre-pay for the room. Why don t you contact the Wyndham directly and ask their about their check-in policy. I m sure they re happy to have the business.

Beaches near Ventura bonfire friendly? -

Does anyone know of any beaches around the Ventura to Santa Barbara area that allow visitors to have bonfires? Any additional info or comments would be appreciated as well.

Only the campsites in the state and county beaches allow fires. None of them are the large concrete fire pits you see down around Huntington, but you can have a nice (smallish) fire:McGrath State BeachCarpinteria State BeachSolimar County ParkFaria County ParkEmma Wood State Beach

Whats a nice place to sit at early in the morning in Austin, TX? -

I like to sit out near Town Lake early in the morning (around 7:30a). It s free and I can take some time drawing, reading, or just quietly sitting and taking in the city. However, as it begins to get colder and rainier, I find it harder to concentrate on just relaxing. Is there any other free public space in town where a person could go that might be more dry or warm. Inside or outside is fine. Thanks.

I love Town Lake also........great place to take your dogs and enjoy everything. Why don t you go to the Capitoll and look at all the beautiful history there? When it is raining, you need to be inside I guess..................

forgive me if I steer you wrong, but when I lived in Austin a year ago I often went to Book People on West 6th (near Lamar) and would sit at the cafe there and read. It was a nice atmosphere and they had coffee and baked items. There are also places to sit inside Whole Foods across the street, but it would be up to you to determine if that store is too crowded or noisy. It can be an interesting place to watch people if it is not too busy.

im going to a concert on wed. at the national in richmond virginiaand i live in falls church va (2 hours away).me and my friend want to take a bus there, we ve never done this before and never been on a bus. is there a metro? if anyonne knows and has websites pleaase let us know. thanks in advanceeeeand we dont want to spend a lot of money!

Please state you help question in the first part. All the Ps does note help at all, I usually ignore these, same as I am ignoring your s right now.

Ask your parents. If you re too young to figure this out, then you re too young to be going there alone. If you are already planning to go there, you must have had some idea of how you were going to get there, no? Does your metro in Richmond go all the way to Falls Church? [I doubt it.] There is a bus system called Greyhound that goes between cities. And, I, too, find the extraneous P s annoying.

Just by reading this question, shows me you are way to immature to even go.

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it s very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

Take the bus tours, they are fun. Try one of these companies...http://www.citysightsny.com/http://www.newyorksightseeing.com/

Go visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, two landmarks of New York City. To get there by the ferry, you need to purchase round-trip ferry tickets at Castle Clinton National Monument in Lower Manhattan. Ferries from New York operate on a loop, stopping first at Liberty Island and then at Ellis Island before returning to Battery Park, New York.Directions to get the ferry dock:http://www.nps.gov/stli/planyourvisit/puGo visit the Empire State Building, one of the many landmarks of our city. It is located at 350 5th Avenue. To get there by MTA subway, take the 1, 2, or 3 (Seventh Avenue Lines), A, C or E (Eighth Avenue Subway) to 34th Street/Penn Station. Or take the B, D, F, N, Q, R or Path to 34th Street/Avenue of the Americas.Go walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, which is, if I m correct, which I might not be, is the oldest structure in the city. If not the oldest structure, the oldest bridge. To get there, and walk across it, take the 4, 5, or 6 to the Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall stop. Another option would be to take the J, M, or Z to Chambers Street.Go visit Coney Island, the home of the world famous Cyclone roller coaster. The amusement park will be closed, especially in the winter time, but the aquarium is open year-round, and sometimes the pier is open, so you can get some snacks -- they have fantastic corn dogs on the pier. To get there by train, take the D, Q N or F train to Stillwell Avenue, which is the last stop. This takes about 45 minutes from midtown Manhattan, and sometimes longer, depending on where you are coming from.Go for a ride on the Circle Line. There are numerous different cruises C one is the Full Island Cruise, which takes you around Manhattan on a three-hour cruise. The Semi-Circle Cruise sets sail on a two-hour cruise down the Hudson offering a stunning panoramic of the famed New York skyline and a close-up view of Lady Liberty. The Liberty Cruise turns 75-minutes into a quick and inspirational way to see New Yorks highlights from the water. There is also a Harbor Lights Evening Cruise, which allows you to view the hotspots of New York City from the water at night. Then, there is The Beast. Its a boat that travels at forty-five miles per hour down the river to the Statue of Liberty. Both cruises are fun and informational, and are a great way to kill some time if you dont have anything to do.Here is the Circle Line schedule:http://www.circleline42.com/site/schedulCircle Line special events:http://www.circleline42.com/site/browse.Go to visit some museums. There are so many, that listing directions to all of them would be a waste of your time and my time, so instead, I will give you a list where there is a list of all the museums of New York City. You can pick some that sound interesting, and then you can find directions to that place, either from the website, or from Google, simply by typing in directions to and insert the museum you would like to go to beside it. Washington University in St. Louis? -

okay. so i just go this letter in the mail that told me that Washington University deemed me as one of americas top scholars and sent me like a thing that said i needed to go to their website and fill out stuff. im confused and idk what it is. haha. have you gotten anything like this

Sounds like Wash U is recruiting students. If you are a top scholar and you are intersted in attending this college, it wouldnt hurt to get more information from them. You dont need to actually apply unless you are seriously considering them.

It s all optional for you. You NEVER have to fill anything out for a college until after you ve actually visited the school and decided you want to apply there. It is just a marketing thing probably that they are doing to get new high school students interested in their school. And yes, Wash U is in St. Louis. It is an amazing and prestigious school. It is fairly difficult to get in to it, but if you do, you are guaranteed a pretty great education. My daughter will most likely be valedictorian of her class and we live about an hour from there and Wash U would be her ideal school. Problem is the cost. Very, very expensive. Now they do have scholarships but they also are extremely difficult to get if you re thinking of a free ride there. It s a compliment that you were sent the letter since only those with the best grades get in usually but without a free ride the cost is about 42,000 a YEAR last time we looked! Of course, most students get some sort of scholarships but at that price, even if you cut the price in half, you d still end up about 80 grand in debt after 4 years. So unless you are the best of the best in terms of high school students in the country, or unless your parents don t balk at the idea of paying 42 grand a year, you might not find it s the place for you. If you have the money though, it would provide you a wonderful education!

Apparently your GPA is very good and the school you go to recommended you for a possible scholarship. It is a prestigious recommendation since it is one of the top Universities in the state.
