Advice about buying in Oakland/Berkeley area (for a new mom and aspiring musician).? -

Hi, I m Stephanie, I m 19, engaged and expecting. My fiance and I are moving to the US to be with his family and to get a bit more work as we are both musicians and I m an actress (We re both Aussies and we live in Australia at the moment). We are looking for a small home or an apartment around the Oakland/Berkeley area in California, as his family is around that area. Because I m expecting we want a place that is in a gsuburburb and close to a good pre-schoelementaryary school.Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Housing in the Oakland/Berkeley area is very expensive, even the smallest one bedrooms are $1000+. I would definitely NOT suggest Oakland at all, it s very dangerous. I would recommend the Central Valley area like Tracy or Stockton as prices are at least half of the Oakland/Berkeley area with good schools and it s only an hour to drive to his relatives. To compare... My sister, husband and step son spend $1300 on a two bedroom with one bath in the Bay Area while I am in the Central Valley in the same size apartment for only $700.

What are some nice, small towns in alaska? -

i am trying to look into how much an alaska trip would cost but i dont even know where to begin. i dont want to go to a big city, just a small cute town with a nice bed in breakfast of something. we want to look at houses while we are there and hopefuly experience some other attractions too. help? ideas?

Every city in Alaska is a small town except anchorage becuz AK is very big with very small population, talkeetna and girdswood worth visiting.Just remember AK has short visit time( June to Aug, other time mostly closed) and very expensive( motel for $199/night)

Driving from Gatineau/Ottawa to Chicago...? -

Hey! I am on my year abroad in Quebec (I m from England) and I have never experienced snow like this before! For Christmas, 6 others and I are going to be driving to Chicago to spend the holidays. (I ve been told this is not a good idea...but you only live once hey, and why not make it an adventure!) So to make it as safe as possible, can anyone from any near by areas give me any tips? We will be stopping off at Toronto for a night to break the journey up a little bit. Are there any roads that are better than others for example? Any particular spots I should be especially careful at?Is the wind really that bad on the road to Chicago?! Also...will driving at night be really difficult because of not being able to see upcoming problems...or will it maybe be better because the roads are quieter?I want this to be a memorable trip for the right reasons, so any suggestions are welcomed! :)

Below is the general route for your 803 mile (1,292 km) trip:http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=m lat=43.5064Expect to be in the car at least 13 hours. for the total trip. You will have to stop for fuel/food/toilet 3 or 4 times. Stay on expressways and interstate highways in the US. They will be the best maintained in snowy weather.I would expect to encounter the heaviest snow near the Great Lakes...Brockville to Hamilton in Canada and western Michigan to Chicago in the US. Right now the windspeed is 21 mph (34 km/h) with lower rates until Wednesday. The temperature is 2F (-16.5C). Does anyone know of a hotel in Myrtle Beach that will rent to a 20 year old and 19 year old? -

I was planning on spending my 20th birthday at myrtle Beach this year, however, I am having problems finding a place that will rent to a nineteen year old without a $300 deposit (which is not an option for me even if we do get the money back afterward). Any help would be appreciated.

yikes I must be old didn t know there was an age limit other than being over 18, been to mytle beach quite a few times , check off shore abit around conway , sorry good luck

These hotels allow 18 year old s to checkin. You must check the hotels check-in policies for minimum checkin age (of 18), because some hotels allow only people of 21 years old.
