About how much rent for studio/1 BR apartment in a safe area in the NYC metro area.? -

I m currently a college student in Tampa, FL, and planning on taking a job in NYC, starting this summer. I don t need anything fancy, just a small studio or 1 bedroom apartment in a safe area within reasonable driving distance from Manhattan. What are some affordable areas to get started in? How much would rent be in these areas?

First of all, reasonable *driving* distance? No. What you need is reasonable *train* commuting distance. [Among other considerations, if you re asking this question, you can t afford to park in Manhattan.] Try a budget of $1200/mo. You can probably find something nice in southern Brooklyn, in Queens, or in Hoboken/Jersey City, New Jersey. If you need cheaper than that, you can go farther afield, e.g. to New Jersey suburban towns or Westchester County or the Bronx.

In Manhattan - 1,400 to 5,000.Lower in the outer boroughs. Best bet? Find some areas that you might like that are safe and walk around them to see for yourself. Narrow it down and either look for a building you like or go to a realty office. From there you might get an apartment that is cheaper than what you might see in ads. Sometimes the Super can help, sometimes you HAVE to go through a realty office.

if you have trouble in booking the cheapest hotel, i may help!

It depends what part of Texas you live in. Part of the state (El Paso) is in the Mountain Time Zone but most is in the Central Time Zone. California is in the Pacific Time Zone so it s one or two hours ealier.

Buses from Boston to JFK or LaGuardia? -

Wondering if there are any buses that go directly from Boston (South Station or Logan Terminals) to LaGuardia or JFK in New York.

I don t think so. You d have to take a bus in to Manhattan and then get either a bus or a train out to the airport. You can also take Amtrak down to Manhattan. Getting to JFK from Penn Station is relatively straightforward.

SHould i go to great wolf lodge in the summer? -

i was thinking of going to great wolf lodge va, for my summer b-day (im turning 14) and i was wondering if it would be a good idea -will i have to have a adult follow me around all the time-will it be expensive -will it b enjoyable for my age group or wud it be god for only little kids

If you are talking about The Great Wolf Lodge in The Wisconsin Dells, it is an awesome water park for all ages. I believe they have life guards so I wouldn t worry about the adult thing. Yes it is expensive and you have to book it well in advance. I am a 54 year old big kid and I have a blast in water parks. They are fun for all ages. Go for it. If you cannot get in to the Great Wolf, there are a number of other water parks there as well.

I think your age group would have fun, it would be somewhat expensive, and you will need supervision depending on your parent s decision

Los Angeles or Orlando for vacation? -

I m getting started planning my vacation next year and i m wondering which city would be better for a 10 day vacation with a 5 year old?

There would be far more for a five-year-old to enjoy in Orlando. It s definitely a better family vacation destination than Los Angeles.

Orlando, hands down. Take your 5 year old to Disney, it truly is the most magical place on Earth. But do it right, stay on property and take advantage of everything Disney has to offer. You will not regret it!I put a few sites to help you out with the planning below. The disboards is a message boards type website that is all about going to Disney. You can get resort reviews, trip reports, restaurant reviews, and so much more. I have been to Disney many times and I always learn something new when I go on the site.Next, check out the Disney website. The Disney website has a ton of info as well, and a resort comparison tool that will help you pick the right place to stay. I would recommend the All-Star Movies resort, it is perfect for the kids. And remember, staying on Disney gives you all the perks, such as transportation and the great Disney service. Disney has a resort to fit any budget. You can also check out allears.net, another pretty good resource for travels to Disney.I hope this helps, have a great trip!

Orlando, Less smog, more fun.

With a five year old at hand, go to Orlando. The city holds Disney World (5 parks, or is it 6), Sea World, Universal Studio, you can visit the Space Center, go to the beach. I remember seeing a water park there too. It s a great place for a vacation, I ve gone many, many times as a child and as an adult.

There isn t any other choice than Orlando. Disney World, Universal, Sea World, Wet n Wild, shopping, dining, shows. How much more do you want?

OMG ORLANDOOO. I live in Cocoa beach.. 45 minutes east. I love going to orlando. wonder works, sea world, universal, disney. C mon!

Los Angeles peaceful and exceiting place..

orlands fun, but ive been there many times..try miami if you want florida? but nothing beats california, and the life there is sooo amazing, and the beaches..shopping..everything.

orlando for the beach or Los Anseles for holleywoodwhich ever you are more interested in , go there

Orlando, although WDW or the other parks are expensive. Not much to see/do in LA, especially for kids.

Your 10 year old would love Orlando. Not much for a 10 yr old to do in LA.

Orlando, it s the bomb!

When you think New Jersey you think? -

Just wondering,Whats the thing or things that come to your mind as many as you can think of good or bad.I always hear thinks like Atlantic City is amazing the shore is great or people are so rude We should of went this place instead I m from New Jersey and I don t see whats so great about it, I also don t see whats so bad about it.You tell me. (:

I think of a funny accent...

I automatically think of The Other City By The Bay or James Gandolfini. It pretty much sums up my part of the state. But New Jersey s a couple different states rolled into one, the northern end is nothing like the Jersey Shore, the Pine Barrens area, or the western farmland areas. It s got a lot of diversity packed into a small package. That s what s cool about Jersey there really isn t anything that sums up the entire state (except maybe the Garden State Parkway. Every Jersey resident has been on it at least a hundred times). To be honest, Beth, New jersey has a lot to offer. I ve lived in many other states trust me, NJ isn t half bad..

Having lived there 1960 to 1972 I think mosquitoes.Having visited there in 1989 (including formerly rural areas), I think suburban sprawl.

One word, three syllables: Aquanet.

A state full of skanky ho s!

Has any one from New Zealand taken a gap year in America nannying? -

Hi im thinking of taking a gap year after year 13.. i was wondering if anyone from New Zealand has done this and could give me any advice on it???Anything would be useful, even if your not from NZ.. THANKYOU :)

To legally work in the United States you will need a work visa, which means an American parent would have to sponsor you. The are some agencies that may assist finding one. Be on notice that often the person you Nanny for may also consider you to be their maid, and expect you to also do house cleaning. Be EXTREMELY careful about selecting a family to work for. Occasionally you will find a male living in the home who thinks you are also there to entertain him, if you get what I mean.

Orlando - air florida helicopter ride, sky venture amp; airboats seem exciting but are not mentioned in websites? -

Apart from disney, universal, kennedy, sea world and busch gardens, these look very exciting but are not recommended on websites. Why is that ? Are they not good or just being missed out ?

Check out tripadvisor.com, a free site, find the Orlando forum and ask someone there. You may be able to find reviews for the companies that offer them there also. We rented an airboat off of 192 in Kissimmee one year. It was just okay. Looking at the water, thinking about the possibility of alligators and poisonous snakes and thinking that my whole family was in that airboat, knowing if I messed up, we could drown or get eaten, didn t make for much fun.

You seek risky masculine activity but Disney World is safe feminine activity.Disney customers are anxious-avoidant and hate the unknown.Someone feminine and anxious-avoidant would not go into a swamp full of snakes or fly a helicopter that could crash.Gold is a masculine investment because you dig it out of the ground.Stocks are a feminine investment because there is plenty for everyone.Tourist traps offer panning for gold but not in Orlando they just dress up like princesses.

They re mentioned on this site:http://theotherorlando.comThe site has complete reviews of hundreds of Orlando attractions.
