I m not sure that I understand your question. If you have found a hostel (there are plenty in NYC) then I don t see why you should have to book a hotel, to my knowledge Virgin does not MAKE you book a hotel when you fly with them, they just have it as an option because they have deals with hotels. But I do have a website that you should check out that might be helpful (I ve used it in the past). It s Hostels.com, they have everything you need to know about hostels across the world and in NYC including pricing, pictures, and even personal ratings from the people that have stayed in them.
