Want to move to NY... help, advice tips? -

So I m 20 and I ve lived in the Midwest my whole life. I want a change of scenery and a larger city so I figured NY would be the next place for me. I don t really know how to start planning for this. I know that I need money and lots of it, but other than that, how do i go about searching for an apartment? Where is a good location for the reasonably broke. Help please and also pass along any other information that you may want to share. THANKS!!

Moneys no joke.No money is a bad joke.Typical apartment rent is about $1000 a month with utilities if you shop well. The closer you get to Manhattan the less you get for that grand. You can contact a real estate broker, they usually charge 1 months rent as a fee.So just to get started 1st months rent, last months rent, security deposit and broker fees $4k. or $15k per 1 st year $12 per year after that. All you are now is off the street. $7 per meal x 3 per day x 7 days round it off $ 220 per week or $11k per year. So now you re dry and fed for $26k. Entry level city job(civil service) $30-35K plus benefits. Can you do it ?

to start u can look at apartments prices there.. www.craigslist.com is not that hard to move here and u dont need that muchhh money, a job will help a lot after get here..good locations anywhere u want to stay its ok

New York is a wonderful place, may you be happy there.
