In winter, Colorado-track lows typically bring heavier snowfall to the Great Lakes than do Alberta-track lows? -

Explain why in winter, Colorado-track lows typically bring heavier snowfall to the Great Lakes than do Alberta-track lows.

The heaviest snows happen on the north and west side of the low due to the fact that the low is bringing in the moisture and the warm air from the south and it wraps around to the northwest side therebye making it colder air with the moisture. Hence, you get the thunderstorms on the east and south side, and heavy snow on the west side. So thats a little about how lows work which is needed for this question:Alberta clippers as you speak of usually track quickly because they are linked with the jet stream (fast winds in the upper atmosphere) and thus heavy snow is hard to get anyways- but they usually track too far north for any of the us to get on that northwest side of the low (thats why there canadian clippers) In addition, they are usually cutoff from a moisture source (the Gulf or Pacific) and thus dont have much to let loose with when it snows- and most melts before it hits the surface in the clouds. Note- they wouldnt even be known, but they happen so much that 2-5 inches are typical about once or twice a week. They also tend to go over the warmer lakes and thus lake enhanced snow make the storm stronger. Colorado storms typically are not linked with the jet stream and thus move slower and have time to dump more snow- and also track further south into the us which allows portions of the us such as Colorado, NB, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, etc to get into that northwest side so critical to temperatures and snow. Hope that helps!

New York City apartment question? -

Okay, so this is the first year I have rented an apartment in the city, and my last. The only thing is, is that my lease is until the end of June, and I want to go and take a trip by at least the beginning of June. My rent is expensive, so I don t want to lose a whole month. Also my apartment is furnished, and I don t particularly want any of the furniture I have now (its all second hand stuff), and would prefer just to leave it.My question, what is the most practical thing for me today do come May? Should I post something on Craig s list where I advertise a furnished apartment with a 13 month lease (where they would just sublet from me and then take over my lease come the end of June), so I don t have to deal with my furniture? I should I try to get someone to sublet it for a month and have them ditch the furniture after? I think about this all the time and am so stressed about how I am going to get out of here to take a trip, but not lose a whole month worth of rent doing it. Anybody with any kind of NYC apt experience have any advice?

Sure,Check your lease and make sure you are allowed to sublet. If so, post an ad on Craigslist advertising the place for a one month sublet. It shouldn t be a problem finding someone. Try subletting it for the price of rent for the month plus a one month security (for if they trash the place). With the furniture, you may offer it to whoever is going to sublet the place. You could always leave it there, but then you d more than likely not get your deposit back. Or, start selling the stuff on Craigslist now.Another option: At the end of the month, put up a Craigslist ad for free furniture. People will come by and take it all, I m sure.I ve sublet my place before while going on trips. It saves you a ton of money.Good luck!

Inexpensive Inn/Motel close to Boston? -

I need an inexpensive Motel to sleep in on Monday. Preferably close to T line specially Greenline. However, I have a car and I can drive. Pls help . Thankx

You may have to find one out side of the city for inexpensive rates. You can also pick up a Room Saver booklet at a rest stop, find one in your area and clip out the coupon. If you don t like city driving you don t want to try driving in Boston.I ve been to Boston a couple of times and I was great full that my boy friend drove because I really don t like city driving.

Honeymoon to San Diego or Sanfrancisco ? -

me and my wife are getting married in 10 days and I wanna surprise her by the honeymoon trip ..I m going to book it tonight ...pls from your own experiense whats better SD or SF ? pls respond asap coz im booking the package now (this hour ) .also : how about Florida ? but I know she likes to go to the west cost more :)thank you

I know this is outside your time frame but maybe it will help someone else. I live in SD and honeymooned myself in SF. Some of it will depend on where you live now and the things you like to do. SF is more like New York or Boston, SD is much more laid back. SF will probably be more expensive. Each has it s own unique feel. The weather this time of year in SF is much more stormy than in SD. SD also has many more places to stay right on the water than SF has. SF on the other hand is easier to get around on public transportation and on foot.My preference is SD, but I live there but I also love visiting SF.Here s a place for more info on SD.http://www.smart-tourist.org/sandiego/inGood luck

I d choose San Francisco over San Diego anytime. San Francisco is much more romantic than San Diego and such beautiful scenery and excellent attractions, shopping, and restaurants. You can get some romantic views of the city from Treasure Island, Twin Peaks, or take a sunset bay cruise. More romantic spots are Telegraph Hill by Coit Tower, Golden Gate Park, Palace of Fine Arts, and The Sir Francis Drake Hotel (overlooking Union Square). As for Florida, Ft. Myers, Sarasota, and Clearwater are all great destinations with excellent white sand beaches and beautiful sunsets.

Book this hotel in San Diego. Even when living only 13 blocks away from the beach I would stay here occasionally and take an in-town Staycation. Get room 105 or 107 looks right out onto the beach and ocean.http://www.bestwestern-bluesea.com/photoI m suggesting San Diego right now only because the storm tracks are just starting to roll in and the weather in SD will be a little better than SF over the next ten days.Enjoy your honeymoon!

SD will definitely be better weather. you also have all the awesome southern california attractions within 70-80 miles of SD! SF will be pretty cold but is a cool town too... just go to maui!

my son is at San Fransisco Statehe says they are Freezing their @sses off at this time.but I would go to S.F. anyway because I live in San Diego.

What is the best hip hop club in NYC for a tourist to visit? -

I am from Los Angeles and I would prefer to go somewhere with a late 20 s early 30 s crowd. I was thinking about Jay-Z s 40/40 but I would rather go to a place where real New Yorkers go.

40/40 is more of a meeting place or a place to throw a get together/party. Webster Hall is cool...
