Sounds like Wash U is recruiting students. If you are a top scholar and you are intersted in attending this college, it wouldnt hurt to get more information from them. You dont need to actually apply unless you are seriously considering them.
It s all optional for you. You NEVER have to fill anything out for a college until after you ve actually visited the school and decided you want to apply there. It is just a marketing thing probably that they are doing to get new high school students interested in their school. And yes, Wash U is in St. Louis. It is an amazing and prestigious school. It is fairly difficult to get in to it, but if you do, you are guaranteed a pretty great education. My daughter will most likely be valedictorian of her class and we live about an hour from there and Wash U would be her ideal school. Problem is the cost. Very, very expensive. Now they do have scholarships but they also are extremely difficult to get if you re thinking of a free ride there. It s a compliment that you were sent the letter since only those with the best grades get in usually but without a free ride the cost is about 42,000 a YEAR last time we looked! Of course, most students get some sort of scholarships but at that price, even if you cut the price in half, you d still end up about 80 grand in debt after 4 years. So unless you are the best of the best in terms of high school students in the country, or unless your parents don t balk at the idea of paying 42 grand a year, you might not find it s the place for you. If you have the money though, it would provide you a wonderful education!
Apparently your GPA is very good and the school you go to recommended you for a possible scholarship. It is a prestigious recommendation since it is one of the top Universities in the state.
