AlabamaTexas is more western than southern. And while Florida is literally the most southern, it s only southern in the northern part of the state.
I believe it is Georgia with its beautiful old southern mansions on plantations, pecan groves, southern hospitality, magnolia trees, refined southern accents, close family ties, etc. Who can think of Gone With the Wind without thinking of Georgia. Lovely state in the old south. They will defend the south until the day they die :)
I usually think of the Alamo , Texas as the most southern state. Not all of Texas has Southern traditions, like Austin for example, but I can t help but getting reminded of Bar-B-Q and the Dallas Cowboys. It really does get Southern in rural Texas.
The first one that pops up is Hawaii, then Florida , and Texas in that order.
Alabama and Mississippi.
