Just to make sure you understand:Living on the Olympic peninsula sounds really great and all.Yet, The facts of the matter are; Unless you are independently wealthy, have a fat retirement income, or a sugar daddy, you will have a hard time scratching out an existence in any of the communities on the peninsula. Population size as of 2000Port Angeles: 18,397Shelton: 8,442Port Townsend: 8,344Forks 3,192The only city in your size range is Port Angeles. It s mostly retirees and lumber mill employees. There are no opportunities. Shelton is really small and poor. The median income for females is $23,617 versus $25,215 for females in Port Angeles. If your ambition in life is to make $12.00/hr. then, go for it. Just bring plenty of cash to get started. Go out into the world. make your fortune. Get some experience, learn, grow, go off to college, have a life, drive over and enjoy everything the peninsula has to offer on your weekends. Then, consider joining the retirees in Port Angeles.
Are you going over here to retire? Then pretty much anywhere is nice, but there are a lot of areas with very few people. (Like Forks...)Do you see a need to have some form of employment at any point in your future? Then that kind of limits you to the east side, as the rest of the peninsula is pretty empty of people.Artist? If so, I would recommend the Shelton area (where I live) as it offers easy access to the Evergreen art community at Evergreen State College. (Olympia)Care for the ocean? As much as I love Port Angeles/Port Townsend, I prefer the ocean to the Straight, and would recommend Grays Harbor county (South of the harbor, which I guess technically isn t on the peninsula anymore).I love all areas of the peninsula though, would be hard for me to pick a favorite place.
i won t because forks is in the middle of nowhere on the western side! most of the olympic peninsula is mountains and national parks, forests and a lot of indian reservations the best places are on the east side like shelton?
Port Angeles has a population of about 18,000 and is one of the (in my opinion) best places in the United States to live. More Info:http://www.ci.port-angeles.wa.us/
