I lived in San Antonio for five years, and in Texas all my life. Native Texans tend to be friendly folks, but San Antonio is a very large city, full of imports , so it will be like any other large city...some folks will be nice, some will not. Likewise, some parts of the city will be safer than others, just like any city. The north central and northwest sides of the city generally have the lowest crime rates. The worse thing about downtown San Antonio is the street system, which takes awhile to figure out. It was once said that the street system was designed by dumping a load of longhorn cattle at the Alamo, then each longhorn was followed by a street crew.San Antonio has the Riverwalk, which is nightclub heaven. If you re looking to party, you re coming to the right place. There are also many, many other things to do for fun in San Antonio (depending on what you think of as fun ), too many to list, in fact. Google visit San Antonio and you will find a bunch of websites that will outline some of the diverse things to do in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. The weather is hotter than a half-acre of hell in the summer, but the winters tend to be mild. If you live between the ocean and the mountains in California, you re probably going to hate our weather, but if you live east of the mountains, you ll feel right at home.As for Texas getting a bad rap from California; California gets a bad rap from us, so we re even. Welcome to Texas!
